  • This is a joke compared to the original. Howard's voice makes Doc Dart (of the Crucifucks) sound like a song bird. It is weird, but the so is the original, as-well as being creepy and beautiful all at once. Only Lydia"s voice saves this from total failure . I don't think i'll be listening to this version again. Just my opinion.

  • Best cover, almost outweirds the original!

  • Phaedra is my name

  • I think Boy George and Celine Dion's cover is the best version of this song.

  • @hwAbdiel :P

  • @hwAbdiel ahhh no! this is definitely the best :)

  • But I still have the vinyl.

  • I love this song tooo much.......

Best cover from Lydia and Rowland

    Thanks for posting.......

  • Kind of a Punk'd out version of the original?

  • sexy beast of a song. thanks.

  • Lydia has pics of her with a .357 to my head. I'd love copies. . . .

  • Like it. Excellent remake. It's a little like...no...kind of sounds like the...oh! what? It's over! Must listen again and see if I'm right.

  • what is the name of this cd?

  • @MrP953 Honeymoon in Red.

  • Terrible. She is IN those stockings though.

  • A singer is a genius? If he were he'd have cured cancer and would have avoided this terrible wall of puke.

  • @PorkyPants seek xpert help you bloodclaat half wit!

  • @pzgdr he's fat, fat people are bitter. i'd pity him but i'm too busy grooving to this brilliantly crazy song.

  • @PorkyPants mate i actually think nick cave is a serious southern gothic artist and rowland s howard an unsung genius, but thank you for expressing your opinion. may people refrain from flaming you

  • One of my fave duets ever!

  • Thank ye gods that this is still here. Lydia and Rowland. I do have the vinyl but not many people still know of this duo. Bit like Lydia and Jim Thirlwell. Mind you they were a bit rude to me in London when I asked for a chat.

  • @TheMimifur i live this version. She was really nice to me when I met her in North Hampton Mass.

  • @TheMimifur die welt mourns with you......what did you expect?....hugs & kisses?...bumbahole!

  • Lee Hazlewood + Nancy Sinatra DESTROYS this terrible version.

  • Dave here. I need no instructon on musical taste. Where I've been in a position to select the music in a public arena, I've almost always been complimented on my good taste. He still sounds drunk to me and she sounds slightly off key. I know the mythological origin of the lyrics. Nancey Sinatra and Lee Hazelwood did a great job with this song, as they did with other songs, such as "Ladybird." I'm with baddogg62 on this one.

  • @Myrtle791 It was recorded and perfromed in atonality. That is a motif of Lydia Lunch, everything and anything she does is atonal. Her and RS Howard completely deconstructed the tonal melody of the original. RS Howard set a precedent for the Zero Wave of music, No Future.

  • Seeing this and hearing this makes me cry. A lot.

  • This is the greatest!!

  • Oooo horrible singing ! Thought it was a joke !?

  • Saw them perform @ The Greyhound Hotel St Kilda when Neil Wedd was booking the bands. It was packed, great show!!!!

  • The morally pure married to the ethically sure leaves but a philosophical hard core to ponder.

  • da miedo la musica jajajaja

  • meh

  • god this is so perfect

  • He sounds like he's drunk. No accounting for tastes.

  • @Myrtle791 what are you saying?

  • @Myrtle791 No Myrtle - no accounting for your bad taste. Now you have heard of artistic interpretation haven't you...!? Do I need to explain the whole song and the (Greek) myth on which it's based?

  • She looks better upside down.

  • Rowland Howard sounds like ptrick star from sponge bob, just saying

  • @milkspam23 hahahahahahahahhahaha.-

  • 30 justin bieber fans missed the like button

  • @planetraptor420 I think this just as annoying as that.

  • the b side of the original 12" i fell in love with a ghost is stunning, still got it :-) brilliant, R.I.P. Rs Howard

  • God this is shit

  • Nearly one year on since Rowland left and the world is a lesser place!

  • been looking for this song for ages Fantastic love it from the first time I heard it 20 odd yrs ago

  • omg, this is so sad...r u kidding me....sucks big time...

  • @canrsiegrl I agree. It's an abomination.

  • @FairAtBest Your an abomination

  • @FairAtBest Your an abomination

  • @KatDOgzz True!

  • @KatDOgzz You're not your

  • @canrsiegrl you are so sad

  • Love it

  • I love this song!! I'm pretty much addicted to it! :)

  • really like her voice in this remake. the guy's voice doesn't capture any of the essence of hazelwood, though. it's hard to do. one of the better covers of the song, though.

  • Love it! RIP Rowland

  • love it! RIP Rowland

  • nice-mad-beautiful xxx

  • yeah, some velvet morning when i´m straight

  • This is just appalling !!!!

Some songs are sacrosanct, and this is one of them, the Nancy and Lee original is just so perfect that everyone else should leave it alone and bathe in it's sonic wonder.

  • best version!

    thanks

  • lydia and rowland rock together.

  • Didn't like it much at all. Seems like they tried to do a 'different' version and got it

  • Didn't like ur m

  • Trrrrippy.

  • so fucking cool!

  • not great

  • This absolutely sucks!!!! Neither of these fools can sing a note! The guy sounds like a half-brained idiot with a sponge in his mouth and she sounds like a reclusive mental ward psycho!

  • @Titan752 lol most the ppl who commented love it....i think its so good...they made a great sound and atmosphere......i didn't know who these artists were the first time i herd it.

  • @Titan752 - What do YOU like, the fucking Beatles or something?!!

  • @LeshaAnn You can like both. I love the beatles and this too.

  • @angryone Sure, but they're [The Beatless] such a safe, conventional choice; That's why I used them in the above context... I guess it would've been MUCH better to say "Lady Gaga," or something current/conventional/crappy like that!

  • This is excellent.

  • Man, this sucks!

  • Amazing, I didn't hear the original. Just Slowdive's version and Lydia's. And I think I will prefer this since the Cocteaux are the only proofs to produce Dream sounds.

  • Why am i touching myself like this?

  • Well done..!

  • What can I say but so many have borrowed from this multidimensional artist. You can view Right Side of My Brain with my cuz Henry Rollins. WARNING: Right Side of My Brain video clip is not for those who see in absolutes.

  • @PragRad: Yet this was borrowed from Lee Hazlewood and Nancy Sinatra

  • she sing with nick cave?

    i love her voice

  • the guy singing is Rowland S. Howard. An absolute genius!

  • @bazza44ify the singer is nick cave

  • @psaychadiliyus No, the singer is Rowland S Howard.

  • what do you mean? she's still alive, wacko

  • *buuuuurrp*

  • You will be sadly missed Rowland

  • @AuntPearlsGlorybox

he was a great part of my formative years. The one with the real sensitive soul in the birthday party and all the stuff with lydia on the honeymoon in red album later but of course all these 12" singles. So talented.

  • Lyia wow I havent seen her in years...

  • RIP, dark romeo...

  • rip

  • Rest In Peace Rowland S. Howard.

  • RIP, Rowland.

  • @waninghope Stick to "Final Fantasy" and Olivia Newton John

  • Good -but I still like the original Nancy Sinatra/Lee Hazlewood version better..

  • Nothing is trippier than a Nancy/Hazlewood collaboration.

  • i like both versions

  • This track is actually credited to:

Lydia Lunch & Rowland S. Howard (Ex-Birthday Party)

  • They try way too hard sounding ''weird'' for the sake of it. Somehow they even failed at that since the original sounds much weirder.

  • True dat.

  • que freak!!

  • Good!

  • 最高

  • Mmmm... i wanna ravish her.

  • EXELENT

  • Been looking for this for 3 years!

  • why did it take 3 years? thats insane

  • amazing... listened for decades to sonic youth, but never had a real chance to listen to Lydia.. What a mistake..

  • Lydia hot

  • thin white rope did a pretty rad distortion and reverb drenched version in the 80's

  • I love Lydia's voice!

  • Ma version préférée.

  • This version certainly takes this epic song to new heights....or is that depths(!)

    Thnx for posting, absolutely STELLAR

  • pure art

  • So much better than any of the other covers- actually covers the sinister atmosphere and lyrics of the song and works with them really well- love Lydia and Rowland also!

  • i agree, and Lydia's voice is perfect for the whole Phaedra concept. i think this is my fave track on the album

  • @denisaxw For the last 27 years this has remained firmly as one of my favourite songs. the stuff of wonderment

  • @chaileywatts You don't know this cover: watch?v=-lGau9uJiPE

  • @chaileywatts comparing to Herb Diamante cover, this one is not very good, really

  • sounds like disturbed teenagers popping pills in the school parking lot, it's amazing

  • gosh u ve a big imagination :P

  • heheheee :P

  • oh. why am i aroused now?

  • Fantastic Awesome, historic version of this song!! - not just Lydia, that's Rowland S. Howard singing, arranging, & playing guitar - if ya' like this, check his stuff out - the band 'These Immortal Souls', 'Birthday Party'(Nick Cave origins!), and 'early' 'Crime and the City Solution'

  • a great version....

  • Time to go the original.

  • a great song differebt its needed now

  • Lydia Lunch rapes all of music a new asshole

  • WOW

    I love this version

  • nick cave is very cool

  • And thanks denisaxw for posting !

  • This is an awesome cover! - that's Rowland S. Howard singing (not nick)& playing guitar w/lydia. Re: shifts in tone in their duet, check out the original duet vrsn. by Nancy Sinatra & Lee Hazelwood!

  • yes it's very good sirdoug3, thanks for your sending

  • This song is sexy as hell, but it gets kind of disjointed at around 2:30, the cut out to each others part of the duet seems forced.

Besides that I love it. And no, thst is not Nick Cave. Now if I could only find Scarbourough Fair cover they did. That one is amazing also.

  • wow this song is way awesome. lydia is gorgeous inside and out. really. nick is just cool. thats without saying.

  • I like both versions, the original was so ahead of it's time and lydia and roland's cover was perfect for the times.I had a band called "headband' in albuquerque, and it was funny that we covered it at the same time that lydia and roland did. i still play all 3 versions.

  • Many in the music area played that game, in `95 around Kurts disappearing and Polly was singing and Nick was mad like a hornet I tryed the game and called myself the new Syd Barrett and of course I was back in Shit Factory. Before the game I was spiritually strong as a poet, now thirteen years later I am almost back where i was before the game in `95.

  • Thanks!

So you know Rowland. I like the music they make, and i listen to Lydia some times because she have these feelings

  • A scary song but better and more natural and scary than the version of Nancy Sinatra and Lee Hazlewood. Lydia and Roland is better.

  • Só falta dizer que o senhor é o Nick Cave!!

    EXCELENTE

  • no es Nick Cave, es Rowland S Howard

  • she makes me claustrophobic

  • Thanks for posting this version, I'm in LOVE with this song. *_*

  • Classic, best version ever.

  • DEFINITELY, her voice is hipnotic ♥
