  • OMG..This is to this day one of the best shows i grew up with while living in Edmonton. Im 45 now and still quote Billy Van/ The Count/The Wolfman and all the others.

Thank you Bill for all the great laughs and more importantly.... u made us feel very comfortable. You're talent is amazing...Thank you. JerryBK

  • Billy Van will always be a superstar to me, and alot of us!

  • The Librarian was my favourite character of Billy's I used to love how he would try to make a fairy tale or nursery rhyme sound as *scary* as possible LOL

  • Watching Hilarious House was a Sunday morning ritual for my brother & I.

Funny how memories of that long ago are scattered, yet I can watch clips of the show I haven't seen for years, and still remember the lines. Thanks Billy for great a show like no other!

  • thanks billy for all the fun you were great i was addicted the this show use to watch it at 7am before school

  • RIP Billy.

  • Oh wow. I just Googled him and I just found out he died. How bitter sweet. :( Thank you for the great childhood memories!

  • OMG I loved this show when i was a kid! Even though I always knew it was coming, I would laugh HYSTERICALLY at Grizelda always hitting her head on the pots! And I also always laughed when she would always admire herself and how she always thought she was soooo beautiful. I still laugh just thinking about it!!!!!! ROFL

That was just absolute PURE genius. PURE GENIUS!

  • Thanks for sharing. I grew up in a small western New York town and watched CHCH saturday mornings. This show was my absolute favorite. Billy Van was a true genius. I have always remembered this show and it was a joy to find this video on here. God Bless Billy Van!!!

  • I now feel cheated & denied living in Chicago in 71.

Not being able to enjoy this show in those years.

We had Creature Features & Svengooli but did not compare to this show!

    Canada is cool!

    Thanks for posting! :)

  • I am so appreciative of the fact that you chose to post these videos.. thank you

  • Thanks DAKlives for posting the Billy Van interview and to all the others for posting the 'HHoF' videos. It's been great to relive the memories!

  • i would watch this show like a mental patient.... transfixed.... just staring at the many faces. Those were great make-up applications. One year for Halloween I did my best to look like the wolfman - complete with overalls and a 45rpm hanging from my neck. It was my ode to Billy Van.

  • i am a huge fan of the show - this is first television show i can remember watching ever in my life, which makes it very special to me...i've always loved it, still do...

  • It' so gratifying to see how many American kids and even one in Australia loved the HHOF and Billy Van's great characterizations. My favorite was the Count. I'm proud that Billy was a Canadian actor, and sad that he wasn't recognized enough worldwide, especially considering his awesome talent. He was truly a gifted comedian, and a humble man.

    Gone too soon.

  • billy van was the best, came before second city and sctv.

  • I an American and I remember this show as a kid! Sorry about the loss of Billy Van! I also remember his appearances on The Sonny & Cher Show. Another unsung talent that's deeply missed. I've gotta hunt down the HHOF DVD if it's available in the US!

  • I remember watching these shows, and I loved them! I don't think I could even pick a favorite character.

  • I used to live in Buffalo, NY and watch "Hilarious House.." after school. I owe a large part of my humor and writing to Billy Van, as well as most comedians performing today. I was very fortunate to grow up on a Canadian border and be exposed to such great improv talent. "Take off, it's the beauty way to go.."

    Viva Billy Van

  • I never knew of this interview. What a real suprise! Definitely made my week getting to see this.

  • "I gently closed the window, and crushed his fucking skull" I wonder if they got that on tape. That would have been funny as hell. Billy Van was a genius!

mind you there wasn't much to watch in Canada then for kids anyhow, beyond the usual "kiddie crap"

    DAK

  • @DAKlives I was 17 when I first got turned on to THHOF in 1971, proving that you don't have to be a kid to enjoy the comic genius and mad mayhem that made HHOF what it was. I especially enjoyed the Wolfman and the Librarian. Fortunately this program reached Buffalo NY (and surrounding area) where I lived at the time.

  • I thought this was an interesting film and I had never heard of Billy Van. I was thinking what a fun job that would be, without thinking of how much work it was too.
