  • He was the shit and what a great recording! He had it all and few peers if any/

  • 2:29 Jesus Christ?

  • wow, that crowd really seemed enthused, lol. They looked like poor souls chemical straitjacketed in a mental institution. Maybe Freddie was doing some free good samaritan entertainment. fine guitar playing though...

  • @emotionalinvalid bahahahahah... naw, just sum scandinavians getting skooled by one of the Masters.

  • If you;re a guitar player you'll understand that this is PIN POINT timing by Freddy... Very difficult and in his case pure natural. He had a HUGE gift.

  • i loved it, especially the audience lake of enthusiastic at the end, from the soil to the soul keep it real haha

  • That is certainly Freddies brother playing bass. There's a TV interview here on youtube from the same Swedish tour where Freddie presents his bro.

  • Awesome clip! Never seen a bass player, play with that much funk and soul using a pick.

  • HE MAKES YOU SMILE!

  • he was awesome .he looked like roy clarke.I have always loved f kings playing great performer and he always got into his playing.this was a time when a guitarist played you didnt have to see him but could hear a few measures and knew exactly who it was.

  • This is blues, this is Freddie King.

  • dig it! his chops almost as big as he is, his collar reins superior to all

  • What a great clip, great example of one of his signature tunes. I think it is his brother on bass but not sure... it was almost always this same guy. I was fortunate enough to see Freddy many times in Houston in the early 70's, mostly at the old Liberty Hall on Chenevert. You could get good red beans & rice there... also heard Lightnin' many times there and also Clifton Chenier when I didn't even know who he was... that was a real mind-blower...NY eve performance, probably around '72.

  • Love Freddie's guitar playing.

Can anyone confirm; is that his younger brother playing bass?

  • when u start playing gutiar with ur fingers picks sound like crap...

  • What a talent with a blues voice and the ability to make difficult guitar playing look easy. This is one of my favorites but they are all better than good.

  • The Road was cruel to Freddie... RIP!

  • The road was cruel to Freddy... RIP!

  • yeah, what Scott said, it was so good I just can't watch anyone else tonight but Freddie, lawdy mercy that man can sing and play.

  • The organ is Baad 2..I love Freddy more than BB..

  • The Best!

  • Ahhhhhhhh! Greta...and check out our version.....

  • just goes to show how good music lives on. freddie died the year I was born

    1981

  • Freddie played and sang from the soul.

  • picken and a peckin

  • the 3 kings are great. albert king, bb king and freddie king.

  • He's my fav of the three kings

  • Is that Deacon Jones on organ?

  • @phatstevie2, Damn right it is!!! lol

  • Now thats tone

  • Damn he gave somebody the "evil eye" there at 2:40.

  • big collared man

  • Looks like Freddie is playing at a church social or a PTA meeting.

  • Few guitarists in the world can merge in a touching way powerful attack on the chords and a generous handful of soul.

    And about his divine voice?

  • The Trinity of blues is: Freddie King, Peter Green, Gary Moore.

  • what the hell is with the guy behind the drummer with the antlers lmfao

  • @stonecoldslippery

LOL....thats funny! (0:59) Damn this grooves....the real deal.

  • Pure Magic!

Only Freddie can make a 355 look small in his hands. It's a wonder that he didn't bend the neck right off of it.

  • I saw Freddie King when he and the band opened for Jefferson Starship in '74. He was a guitarist and bluesman extraordinaire.

  • I love Freddie King......and I love to get a shirt like that.......No I'd rather play like that.

  • This New Orleans boy was lucky enough to see Freddie play, summer of '76 at the Crystal Palace, just outside of London as the 3rd act of a 4-band day. Irish Chieftains opened the show, followed by Rory Gallagher, then Freddie, then Eric Clapton. Of course, for Eric's closing song Freddie, Rory and Ron Wood joined him onstage. This, as it turned out was 4 months before Freddie's premature death. I'll never forget that day.

  • ONE OF THE THREE KINGS !!!! ALBERT,B.B. AND,FREDDIE !!!!! IN WHICHEVER ORDER YOU CHOOSE....

  • long live the texas cannonball

  • lol @ the scandanavian crowd that had no clue what just hit them

  • Speechless performance/insane guitar skills/ voice. I'd sell my soul 2 play like Frederick King.

  • FIRE!!!!

  • GEEZ look at the audience at the end. clapping like they dont know whats going on. they should freak out and feel what the man is playing like i am infront of my computer lol

  • this...without a doubt

is the true reason i play....fuck...i love freddy

    bring it on...still no dislikes

    :)

  • This has been the tightest i have ever heard FK so far, i mean they just stick in the pocket on this recording...love it!

  • Bass player gets extra points being able to contain himself behind the Legend.

  • The people in the audience look too calm. If I had been there, I'd be flipping out and standing on my feet never wanting it to end!!

I just wish it didn't take me 19 years to finally hear the great Freddie King.

  • @turkeyburger50 ----- I think the audience is a bit too calm because people back then weren't as free to express themselves as they are today. Freddie was teachin' em that freedom. God bless him!

  • Larger than life ( and an even larger collar )

  • @KingKramerTV That collar is epic!

  • I do like the original approach of Freddie King. This is blues through a Tube Screamer before the thing did even exist; beyond the 12 bar carcan.

    Rock on, man.

  • Freddie is killin' it the whole way, but at 3:43 he brings it to a whole 'nother level.

  • At 3:57 it looks like he's about to throw down with someone

  • 31 people love big legged women

  • I like,...but during the last few minutes, i had the sudden urge to listen to the YOUTUBE video called "Albert King-Live in Memphis 1975" . (I love you Freddie King!!)

  • Yeha...I mean yeah! :-)

  • Freddie King at this point in his career was about as good as it can get. His work has always punched me right in the gut. What a terrific guitarist and singer he was. Many thanks for posting.

  • Amazing performance!! Might as well have been playing in front of an audience of mannequins, though. Sad they didn't realize the brilliance they were privileged to be viewing live.

  • Is that Jamie Foxx on bass?

  • Yes yes yes - Freddie King was the REAL DEAL. Thank you for posting this!

  • @benzuckerman you sure got that right brother, Freddie was the man!

  • From the Oppopoppa show in Sweden 1973.

  • wow,the man is a leviathon.
