Why did you quit chasing the storm? It appeared that you were approaching the storm from the South, there was no hail during the video - large or otherwise - and a nice clear base to view. How fast was the storm moving away from you?

we didnt actually quit chasing it... when i first saw it... it was quit a bit away from us... so we jumped in a car... and drove as fast as we could toward it... we probably drove about 8 miles or more trying to get as close as we could... but my camera didnt have a memory card at the time

It's incredible to see it. I was born in Munster and raised in east chicago. my family is still up there and their home was severly damaged. its both incredible footage to see but its bittersweet knowing that it happened there of all places.

My neighbors tree crashed down ontop of his car. The photo was in the ridge times. It was insane. They say an F3 or F4 hit Griffith, IN. I was without power for about two days, and Munster was on boil water for that week. Lansing, IL didn't get their power back until three days later. My brother works for the Thornton, IL Firedepartment. He said that most damange done around us in Munster, was caused by the lightning strikes. At one point, I thought my house was on fire from lightning.
