If I write the words I’m learning from your lessons in my letters, will her mother be able to understand them without going through the ChildFund translator? I am really getting a lot out of your lessons – TERIMA KASIH!

  • my lovely wife is from Indonesia, now i can learn more of her language.terima kasih.

  • Miss, kurang natural bicaranya. cuma saran, klo pas ngomong indonesia ... usahakan kecepatannya normal. soalnya ada tulisan bahasa indonesianya disana. kurang natural pas bilang "Pak"... dalam prakteknya vowel "K" is soundless.

  • bagus sekali!! ini sangat berguna untuk pacar saya yang saat ini berada di kroasia dan akan segera menjadi warga negara Indonesia setelah menikah dengan saya nanti....so i thank you so much to you dandorf

  • Please keep posting .. i am learning heaps. YOu are doing a great great job.

  • @NirinaGasikara : Malaygasy? Isn't that the national language of Madagascar? Indonesian and Malaygasy are from the same language family, Austronesian (Malayo-polynesian). I call it island language. :-) When the Malay language was heavily influenced by the Dutch and Java language, it became Indonesian. :-)

Many Indonesians migrated to Madagascar so that partly explains the similarity in our language as well. :-)

  • @NirinaGasikara : There are no verb tense in Indonesian. Simply add a word to indicate past, present, or future. Sometimes, you don't even need to add it because it is implied.

    As for personal pronouns,

I, me: Saya (formal), Aku (informal), Gua (slang)

You, your: Anda (formal), Lu (slang), Engkau, Kau, Kamu (all three are informal)

    He/she/it: Dia, ia, beliau

We, us: Kita (including), Kami (Excluding the person talking to)

    They, them: Mereka

Hope this helps. :-) What is your language?

  • Hi! Apa khabar? Terima kasih. THis is a great refresher course for me. I'm married to a malay and I am trying to pick up some conversational malay to speak to my mother in law. Thank you so much. Good job!

  • Your tutorials are excellent, keep doing them...!!

Im from Mexico and my boyfriend who is half mexican half indonesian has invited me to indonesia on december...

Hopfully hearing your tutorial every day i´ll achieve to comunicate in a fluid indonesian when i get there.

    THANKS!!!

  • slamat

  • Hey girl appreciate all your efforts in doing this. Makasih ya

  • Ibu sudah makan? = Have you already eaten? >>> "already" is redundant. It should not be used in this phrase. "Have you eaten?" is sufficient.

  • not in indonesian bub

  • "sedang" is better than "lagi" (present continuous tense)....it is more formal and polite I think

-"sedang" apa? = lagi apa?=what are you doing?

    -"sedang makan=lagi makan=I am eating

  • aneh bgt ! masa bahasa segini gampang masih ada yang bingung !

  • Thanks for great videos :)

  • hi thanks for posting this video... saya jadi bisa ngajarin pacar saya untuk belajar bahasa indonesia.. he he

  • Destri thanks a lot for these videos - very helpful, and I like your style too its very natural

  • im assuming one is for men, the other is for women?

  • no you can use either one of them. "saya" is a formal way to say "I". "aku" is the informal way. You use "aku" when you talk with someone who is really close to you. Hope that helps.

  • @mus1402: Although in Indonesia, people don't really care if you use "aku" or "saya". To them, it is all the same.

  • how do you say, "i love you"?

  • saya cinta kamu or aku cinta kamu

  • Terimakasih, bagus!

  • saya tinggal di australia dan saya belajar bahasa indonesia untuk enam tahun, tetapi saya kurang baik!!! saya di kelas dua belas (which i think is equal to SMU 3 but anyone correct me if this is wrong) Saya mau berjalan di indonesia tetapi sekolah saya tidak diboleh saya. saya mau belajar bahasa indo di universitas supaya saya bisa meningkat bahasa saya. p.s please correct any wrong words/grammar.even though saya belajar bahasa indonesia untuk enam tahun, di sekolah kamu (learn)sekali sedikit.

  • Dandorf, Terima Kasih. I enjoy again, return to your lessons. I suggest one use a note but and write down each set of words and phrases. I study at home, at work during breaks and in cafe (Starbucks). Terima Kasih for taking the time and effort to share!

  • Terima Kasih.. (practice...) I enjoy your lessons and they are very helpful. Thank you for your efforts and presentation. Perfect way to learn.

Selamat malam dari San Antonio, TX

  • Haha... Suicide bomber?? Lol... Just for your information, most of the suicide bomber is not Indonesian. Indonesia is just a target..^_^

  • Maybe there is a need to learn indonesian lingo. I say this only becuase the extremist religious schools in Indonesia known as pesantren are teachng English to their students so that are able to come to US and with their knowledge of English makes it easy for them to look for targets for potential suicide bomb attacks.
