  • and peter sounds terrible here. he usually did any time he was live back then.

  • not really diggin' this version. i think it's mostly the keyboard player. he just doesn't have the same vibe of awesome that tony banks does. i guess it's not fair to compare them though.

  • Peter was just trying to outrun this "old" tune. He had progressed beyond the nostalgic that some of the fans wanted to steep in. You can see he is bored with it.

  • @farticusplus2 i dunno, he looked pretty into it to me.

  • ho i brividi.....

  • bit fat , bit poofy

  • Is that Tony Levine on bass? This is awesome!

  • Tempo is too fast for my taste.

  • Peter. Il Re del progressive rock e Dio della musica in generale

  • Fascinating. Totally punk for a prog song haha. Peter was headed in that direction as we all know.

  • Immenso Peter, grandissimo Tony Levin, ma imparagonabile nei confronti della versione originale che musicalmente è infinitamente superiore.

  • i support Tony Levin, the BASS GOD

  • Tony Levin bass god

  • The father of punk ! Kerle, war ich auf dem Konzert noch jung :o)))

  • This is rare no more lol Peter Gabriel is very young here. Must be his first show out of Genesis?

  • Rael imperial serial kid!

  • Don't they look like a bunch of twats?

  • @TheOmanJam You know, I love these guys, but they do kind of look like twats in this video.

  • 1:09 troppo figo...

  • Peter in his early solo days was still struggling to be comfortable in front of an audience, without all the make up he used to employ with Genesis. But as the years have gone by he has become a fantastic singer and entertainer

  • @BLUESMANRONCHICAGO Everyone has their weak spots now and then, am I right? Even me and you aren't perfect, and these people who are dwelling on the flaws of this particular recording are missing out on some good music!

  • @TheBrothers759 Oh I defintiely understand, and i wasn't really criticizing, just pointing out what appears to be the case watching the video. Peter is a truly amazing entertainer, I remember having my awkward moments on stage, but they happened when I started thinking too much. Playing the blues demands that it comes from the heart, and sometimes i became too focused on what I was doing on the harmonica rather than letting the riffs just come out.

  • @BLUESMANRONCHICAGO Oh, I know you weren't just criticizing :D Peter's great, I know, and yeah, this recording's a bit flawed, but it's still very good! Cheers.

  • Classic video!! Awesome piano intro! Peter looks and sounds a little strung out, but still amazing!

  • HES LOOK RELAY NERVUS

  • LOL. this id the badest thing i fucking ever heard from peter Gabriel . this shit is fucked up. i know the song is from the genesis time. but liste in the begining wehen he start singing "and the aaamb lies dooow on broadw...." AND HE MUSLTY FORHET THE LYRICS

  • @MrBjanka Are you a fucking idiot? Please tell me you're just messing with all of us.

  • @TheBrothers759 are you crazy... .lol....i dindt like it, so you dont need to get angery. fuyou the brothers bitch..... i like peter gabreil i have seen him peform better than this.

  • @MrBjanka You are an idiot. Of course he was a bit nervous during this recording, but there's no need for you to use such foul language about this recording and just out rightly insult Peter. The instrumentals in this version ROCKED, even though the vocals might have been a little weak. You can't understand fully what this recording is, so shut the fuck up and stop being the little bitch you are and listen to good music.

  • @TheBrothers759 NOW YOU SHUT UP!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! AM GETING ANGERY ON YOU, BROTHER FROM ANOTHER. AM JUST SAY WAHT I LIKE OR NOT LIKE ANDYOU DONT NEED TO CHOSE OVER ME, I SUE YOU!!!!

  • @MrBjanka Danger, Danger Will Robinson! I am detecting a severe case of retard over here! Look at your grammar. You obviously fail to understand music past the shallowness of pop culture, which dwells on conformity. Just grow the fuck up and admit you're wrong.

  • @MrBjanka Also, before you make another childish and stupid reply... Sue me. I'd like to see you try. You just insult an amazing artist, and then back it up with big boy words and "I actually like him though!"? Bullshit. I think you need to either just listen to this wonderful music and shut up about the flaws, or go listen to some shitty-ass Eminem that has absolutely no talent in it at all.

  • @TheBrothers759 you know, you cant see eminem like peter gabriel,,,, peter has learn his musick eminem did not. i am a fan of peter. SO WANT YOU JUST SHUT YOU UP. AND DONT CARE ABOUT ME, AM JUST SAY THAT I LIKE WITH THIS OR NOT, ANSER ME A QUASTION? PLEASE!!!!!! WHAY ARE YOU CARRE ABOUT MY COMENT, ARE YOU PETER GABREIL HU????? GO BACK TO MOTHER AND LET HER SING SOME CHILDREN SONG. FUCK YOU.

  • @MrBjanka I'm not saying I see Eminem like Peter. Eminem is shit, Peter is the best. Stop being such a child, you stupid bigot. If you don't like this, be like many of the other people that nicely stated they did not like it, but don't just make fun of Peter, then start flame wars like you did. Peter Gabriel's awesome, this recording rocks, and you need to shut your five year old mouth and put your big-boy knickers on before I report your account for abuse and violation of rules.

  • @MrBjanka Hey, ever heard of the comedian Jacksfilms? Well, he has this show where he takes 7 years olds with terrible grammar, much like yourself, and makes fun of them. Have fun, because I just reported you to Your Grammar Sucks.

  • @MrBjanka You're making no sense, and you're not going to come to my home and kill me at night. You're too stupid to use a knife.

  • @TheBrothers759 we let this thing behind us,??+ okey this ROCKED I LOVE PETER GABRILE THIS AINT SO BAD STILL....

  • @MrBjanka Dude, it's okay if you don't like it, just stop being so mean to the artist and the people who are commenting.

  • @TheBrothers759 okey. i see. we forghet this bullshit do you agreed with me?

  • @TheBrothers759 first. am not 7 years old, secound, i am not gaming so mutch annymore., third. i have reported you youtube channel, i have just make a call to the theam. so you are getteing wanted. for dislike and hate me. you can just wait untill february 14. and then you loose you channel, whay?? whay??? whaaay??? wahts the point to be so bad against me??? just becuse i written in the coment. i can deleted it if you are gettn so angery.

  • @MrBjanka First, you're certainly acting like you're seven. Second, I never mentioned gaming. Third, you didn't report my Youtube Channel, you did not call them, I am not getting wanted, I never said I disliked you or hated you, I'm not losing my channel, I'm not being mean to you, I'm not angry, you are, and you're stupid, and your sucky ass grammar is about to make you the laughing stalk of Youtube. Cheers, you stupid asshole!

  • THAT ROCKED!

  • Interesting version. Wonder why all the hating. Totally shows where he was going with the first solo album.

  • @MuscLA Really? I can't see much of a link between this song and the first PG solo album. Please, if you wouldn't mind, elucidate.

  • @72seeker72 Moribund the Burgermeister, Down the Dolce Vita, Here Comes the Flood, all songs that draw back to his old work. This particular version of "The Lamb" brings out the strength of his instrumental view, but definitely not the vocals.

  • One of the WORST renditions of the piano intro I've ever heard.

  • The bleating goat gabriel voice in all its glory.

  • Gabriel doing punk

  • Poor performance

  • I like this live sound.

  • Uh, I don't think that's Rhodes. It appears to be Sid McGinnis. Rhodes didn't join the band until Random Hold (which had toured with Gabriel) was dissolved in the early eighties.

  • Different.

  • Not the best version...actually, I've seen it before, hated it then, and don't really like it now. But I appreciate the effort; one that he wouldn't make today.

  • WOW this is awful

  • @pilates68

    You're spot on - that's just embarrassing!

  • frankly speaking, Genesis did it better. Peter Gabriel was frustrated that the band (Genesis) were so stiff and rigid on stage. But this version featuring, Tony Levin and David Rhodes squating holding their guitars between their legs and contorting their faces looks pretty dumb. The irony is that Genesis performing it 5 years earlier looks better than this silly attempt to infuse energy into the song and separate himself (Gabriel) from what Genesis did. Looks more dated than 1975. Tried to hard.

  • @pilates68 That's interesting and makes a lot of sense. I wonder how much that contributed to him leaving. Musically, this is pretty dire - but I like the way he's Rael here.

  • Are you the lamb who lies down on Broadway ?

  • Wow... that's great quality for '78.

  • larry fast, you are a god among men

  • I LOVE this version.....

  • this version of The Lamb didn't go down so well with everyone at the time, Prog Rocker attempts to Punk it up was one barb aimed,, but it stands the test of time. Rael WAS a punk, after all

  • GREAT!!!

  • I think it's a punk version. Leather jacket says all.

  • @SolitudeAeturnus Peter always wore a leather jacket when performing Lamb with Genesis too. It's his Rael costume.

  • Wow - is that Tony Levin? I didn't realize he'd been a) playing with Gabriel in the 70s, and b) had been totally bald for that long.

  • Wow Gracias.

  • Peter Gabriel was Hard as a Stone that night

  • @GlaceDuFraise i noticed the same thing! jaja, he soundds like the sex pistols

  • Der Brat-Bear war live dabei grandios
