OMG this is a stomach puncher. for a wooden roller-coaster this is one of the scariest ones. its fun but it almost killed me ( I'm exaggerating)

How nice to see this. Brings back alot of memories. The grizzly was literally the first real roller coaster i went on as a kid; before the "hurler" was built and the mountain had a bunch of pirates in it (who remembers that?). I was about 12. Scarred the crap out of me. I literally pissed my pants. Good thing the log flume and the white water canyon were close by and next on the list!

I used to love to ride the Grizzly....when it wasn't broken. It was one of the scariest roller coasters I have ever been on. I think it was because of:

1.the tunnel that always felt like you were going to hit your head as you entered,

2. and the damn thing was so rickety, you didn't know if you were going to get off the ride alive. IT IS AWESOME!!

The Grizzly is one of my top 5 favorite coasters. I rode it the week it opened when it was smooth and very fast. On the right-hand bend coming out of the tunnel, I was pressed against the car and when I pushed back with my arm I tore a left pectoral muscle. I felt it pop and thought, "That's gonna hurt." this ride traumatized me! the lap bar got stuck & they couldn't fix it so i had to ride it like 4 times in a row... cuz heaven forbid they should hold the ride up when it was malfunctioning in order to fix it! i was sooo sick after that :-P

no this is not the roughest wooden coaster...TRY "SON OF BEAST"!...that was the only wooden coaster with a loop. They had to take the loop off because 30 people had neck injuries...NOW THATS ROUGH

Only great wooden coaster at the park. Some days it lets you down, but then in future visits it surprises you by the excitement you get. So, in general its always gonna be a good ride. I always ride in the back cuz thats the only thrilling seat on this particular ride.

So I've ridden both the Grizzly in Great America (Northern California) and the Grizzly in Kings Dominion (Doswell Virginia). For some reason I found the one in Virginia to be a lot more thrilling... However I don't know exactly why... It might be because of the atmosphere. Does anyone know if there is any difference in speed or height between the two? They seem practically identical.

The Grizzly is a very modest coaster. Very Original and yet still unique. It doesn't go upside down, underwater, or anything like that but it's freaking made out of wood. Old Wood Coasters are Scary. What could be cooler than that?

Nah, you didn't ride it. I am a recently hired employee at King's Dominion, and I was assigned to the Grizzly but since it is BEING RE-TRACKED, I got moved to White Water Canyon until maintenance is finished. There's no way you rode it this season.
