Free running? Hell no. They're not very comfortable or supportive. If you want to free run, get some tennis shoes.

@assassin32320 Well these aren't real jikatabi, real tabi shoes that I wore in Japan have steel over your toes and one the sides. They're EXTREMELY light weight and would be perfect for free running. You cannot describe the feeling of wearing real tabi. Imagine having the security of a american style work boot but the freedom of completely barefoot. Real tabi are amazing.

Well these were imported from Japan. A quick look at information on the web says that they don't have to have steel toes (not sure how helpful steel toes would be on a cloth shoe, but whatever)

The tabi I bought at a carpentry/hardware store in Hijirigaoka, Yokohama had steel over the toes, not normal steel blow at the tip, but actually a later of upsidedown "u" shaped steel or metal over the toes and it felt AWESOME. They looked the same as yours though. With the exception of just the steel of course. Maybe I'll make a video of them.

Hey, I just thought I'd throw this in...

The reason you can't run in those (and a lot of other "barefoot" style shoes is that your boots and shoes have weakened the muscle and connective tissue in the arch of your foot.

Wear them for a month or so and they will get better and you'll get stronger. Maybe do some reading on barefoot running. It may not be what you're into but the science applies. Thanks for the review!

Thanks for the comment. I recently bought some pretty boss looking boots that were more... well they were less rubbery on the bottom, more... like desert boots with smooth tanned leather instead of hide. The first few days, the muscles in my legs were aching, I guess because I was working a different set of muscles from wearing them.

Hey man, very nice review of footwear. I come from a Construction Family, meaning that 97% of my family work in our construction business. I have very odd feet and most footwear hurt my feet.

I have found that the more obscure type of shoes really feel good on my feet. I also study Ninjutsu, so I picked up a pair of these. I paid well over $100 for a good brand and I dont regret it. They feel awesome and fit better than the cheaper ones. I no longer work in constuction, but I still wear them

Look it up. Ninjitsu is a style of martial arts thats like...well I don't know, but people use Jikatabi's for martial arts that require special balance and leverage moves. That's all I know, check it out for yourself if you really want to find out.
