  • yup glow plug relay

  • It's your glow plug relay take a piece of wire and make a jumper and touch the two post together or get a new relay. Happens to probably every 7.3 eventually.

  • seems like diesel is struggling to get to the engine, check the fuel lines, maybe the fuel filter?

  • try the glow plugs

  • I swear that glow plug relay gets everybody at some point. And you go crazy trying to figure the fucking problem out, and then your like. Oh...

  • Sounds like you might want to try and hold the starter for another half second once it tries to start

  • if u use starting fluid DO NOT use the glow plugs after u spray in the starting fluid

  • @73chevyk20 end youself

  • sounds like low compression??

  • YOU FLOODED IT!!!!!

  • starting fluid isnt good for a interal combustine enigine ,but a compression combustine enigine isnt hurt by staring fluid... it might fuk with your electronics im not sure tho

  • @jetfirebirdjoe unless you KNOW you glow plugs arent working, you shouldnt use starting fluid or ether. itl blow the bolts right outta the head

  • @HeartJager88 true that man i saw it happen

  • @HeartJager88 lol right out the heads huh ever seen that happen?? i use starting fluid to crank a 60's model track hoe when i have to use it at work hasnt blow up on me...yet lol

  • well that was cool lets put my truck on you tube either know that it has problems starting ur a fuckin fag

  • Fix or repair daily, shoulda got a cummins man

  • Them are some gay ass tires you got there!

  • My 1997 7.3 was doing the same thing, change the glow plugs and it'll fix that "hard to start" problem, worked for my truck, starts in cold weather with no problems what so ever now.

  • doesnt white smoke mean tht there is low oil?

  • @kxdirtrider85 no thats fuel thats not heated coming out

  • P.O.S

  • sounds like it's trying to shove too much fuel through it

  • Take that POS to the junkyard and buy a Cummins.

  • i have a 95 f250 7.3l powerstroke and i have the same problem...just spray some ether in the air intake and it should fire rite up

  • @dieselboy250 It slowly destroys the engine.

  • @studpuppy69 Ya. ether will mess a diesel up and bad.

  • @FF4X4 ether is made to start a diesel engine .... it is only not supposed to be used on an engine with glow plugs or diesel engines with precombustion chambers

  • @chevguy502 you dont make any sense. diesels have glowplugs. thats what starts them. diesels do not have spark plugs. thats what starts gasoline motors. so no, it is not recommended to use ether in a diesel. it will absolutely destroy the motor over time.

  • @FF4X4 i am a heavy duty mechanic ether is made as a starting aid for diesel engines without glow plugs diesel engines that have glow plugs have a precombustion chamber that has the glow plug located within it and if ether gets in there yes it will destroy the engine however on heavy equipment there are no glow plugs the engine uses the heat of compression to start the engine, why do you think heavy equipment has a start aide button in the cab??? guess what it does.... activates a can of ether

  • @chevguy502 yes but this is not considered heavy equipment. this three quarter ton has glow plugs, so no, do not use ether

  • @FF4X4 you said ether is bad for diesel engines in general

  • @chevguy502 yes, most people do not have heavy equipment, so yes in general ether is bad for diesels

  • @FF4X4 point is its still a false statement

  • @chevguy502 ok. go ahead and use ether in your diesel just dont cry when it messes your engine up.

  • @FF4X4 yah we do every morning when we fire up our heavy equipment which have no precombustion chambers, i am a diesel mechanic i know what i am doing obviously you dont

  • @chevguy502 thats great. i am glad your a diesel mechanic. but no offense, i will definately not be be needing your mechanicing skills on mine because i know the damage that ether will do. and if you dont know that, theres probably a lot of other things you dont know about on the diesels, just speculating.

  • @FF4X4 why do you think heavy equipment manufacturers put the equipment for fluid starting aide on their equipment??? you think its good to turn an engine over for along period of time without it firing??

  • @chevguy502 a properly tuned engine does not neet a fluid starting aide to fire up

  • @FF4X4 HAHAHAHAHAHAAH maybe where your from lmao come to Canada ... shows what you know

  • @chevguy502 ya it shows that it is pretty easy to have more common sense than your average Canadian diesel mechanic.

  • @FF4X4 HAHAHA and common sense is thinking the weather is the same everywhere in the world LMAO dumb american

  • @chevguy502 i never said anything about the weather nor referred to it. your probably one of the stupid people that comments saying, "oh it's suppose to snow today." i got news for you though, the weather is not supposed to do anything. there is only one thing that will change the weather but you probably dont know that or are in denial about it.

  • @FF4X4 i said something about weather when you said "a properly tuned engine shouldnt need a starting aid" and wtf are you talking about weather changes all the time you fuckin nerd you dont know shit

  • @dieselboy250 ether is last resort, if you have to spray it something is messed up, just put a couple bucks into the glow plug system, saves time and hassle

  • that thing looks good from wat i can see of it

wat lift and tires u got on that thing

  • lol white smoke yeah that truck is fucked!!!

  • was this suppose to be a cold start?!

  • Yeah its definatly the glow plugs. you can see it getting fuel so its not the injectors and it is poping so its getting fuel. Also could be your fuel filter. I just had to change mine cuz my truck would start last week. I got an 01 F250 7.3 with a bit of money put into it.

  • knock...knock...knock...DEAD

  • bad glow plugs or injectors maybe I got a 2001 7.3 its the same way when it gets colder then 40 degrees, am i in the ball park on the guess. Personal truck is a 2005 Duramax could be -30 out and I don't even have to let the glow plugs to start or plug it in. Love that truck...

  • ya this is how my 7.3 acts just not nearly as bad but the glowplugs are fading on it. but most new trucks including the duramax dont even have glowplugs

  • @MMAdeofstone cummmins hasnt since like 89

  • @jmanwild damn really! learn something new everyday

  • why does the title not surprise me?

7.3's are okay but when it gets cold they are pieces of shit

  • MINE IS NOT. R U A CHEVY MAN?

  • @nascarfordredneck

no I am a Dodge guy

and the PSD diesel has nothing on a cummins

  • my 7.3 does the same when it gets cold outside,, I keep it plugged in to not go threw the headache and smoke, someone told me once thats the reason why it does that is cause there is cold oil trying to go threw the engine , i dunno i just keep it plugged in during the winter , nice truck man,, FYI those Traxus tires aint work a damn, trust me i know

  • I wonder if he is "waiting to start" like you are supposed to?

  • 7.3L or 6.0L?

  • Comment removed

  • its a ford go figure

  • its not a carburetor dumbass

  • sounds like a bad injector

  • could be an idle air valve, if it starts when he pushes the gas, then stops when he idles it, themn its probably the idle air valve

  • or coulda just been flooded

  • i like the truck, thats the only bad part about diesel

  • Everybody has there preference of diesel trucks, just face it, though, you're not got to change their opinions. Cummins probably is the best motor, but the transmission behind it is junk. Ford's powerstrokes are incredibly durable. Duramax and Allison are an incredible combo. I have owned all three and would tell you that you can't go wrong with any of them.

  • Hot! Like to sit next to the pipe and take in my mouth and try to hold back the fumes when you rev!;

  • Bet you suck good cock then huh.

  • YOU KNOW WHAT CHEVY MEANS

Hey look its a peice of shit

Everybody look its a peice of shit

    Very big peice of shit

You own a peice of sCan you see that peice of shit

    hit

  • your an idiot

  • john deer eather dude. works great

  • Fix

    Or

    Repair

    Daily

  • It ain't Ford's fault Navistar/International puts out such a crappy diesel....why do you think the '11 Super Duty has a new Ford designed, engineered and built Power Stroke? Cause Navistar ain't cutting it!

  • yea well its better than Jags, lol gotta buy 3 of those damned things just to have one

  • i found your problem, its not a cummins.

  • lol

  • yes...if it were cummins it was already dead)))and that guy do not have even need to spent time trying to start it))

  • LOL what???? if it were a cummins it'd have a million miles on it & still starting good

  • I just want to say that I am tired from people like you...IF YOU DONT LIKE IT SO DONT LOOK IT!

someone like Ford someone like Chevy...but it doesnt mean that you must say that Ford is crap,if you like Chevy...it is very stupid dude...

if it was if it was....I like Ford...you something against it or what?for what you post comments like "you suck you suck but I am the coolest thing in the world"?

    grow up

  • easy there i dont think anyone is saying anything like what ur talking about.....in fact ur the only one who insulted anything here u said if it were a cummins it already be dead....so u should probably reconsider what u just said & realize that the only person u can accuse is yourself

  • if you think that nobody talking like..."hhhmmm you know why your truck do not work?because it is Ford" and something like that...than look other videos here...if you dont like Ford and you fan of Dodge or Chevy...I very happy for you, because all this trucks are very nice...but for what someone think that he must say shit about someones truck??

  • Hey Mike Leo. Get your mom and dad to check your spelling/grammar errors. Your paragraph makes no sense.

  • hey JSEXY1818.Fuck you)

  • @1987MikeLeo

    then stop bashing cummins dammit

  • @lifeofrileycardigan

    haha yeah

  • couple questions 1 how cold was it? 2 do u have any fault codes? and 3 what year is ur truck sounded like a 7.3 but i could be wrong and 4 have u resolved ur hard start?

  • It was about 60*, no fault codes, 2003 7.3, it was the glow plug relay.

  • sounds like air in the fuel.

  • sounds like my truck when i run out of fuel

  • Sounds like that truck needs a tune-up!

  • bad glow plugs

  • Comment removed

  • time to get a injection pump!

  • People are stupid, haha.. dude nice truck but don't let "the regualr JOE" tell you any thing... what was the the probelm? I would say injector, relay or injection pump? close?... I'm pretty drink so may not be thinking right haha... hope it was a cheap repair bud

  • hahaah who would want to be gettin power stroked when you can be cummin hahaha cummin feels a lot better then just strokin dumbass hahah

  • It's not the truck, it's the owner. Ever heard of a tune-up, f*ckt*at?

  • thats what u get with a ford dodge all the way!!!!

  • thats what you get for working your truck and not taking care of it i bet a dodge would do the same thing

  • hey man my 7.3 did the same thing i took it back to the dealer the mechanic said for me to get a 5 gallon metal tank and mount it under the hood well that was the hard part but i took of the stock battery and movd it to the bed bet 2 block heaters and run ur fuel lines from ur main tank to the small one then from there to ur motor it heats it and makes it start easier you may change ur glow plugs too may help but try it mine starts prollt 55 % better now

  • As if no other diesel trucks, or no other vehicles for that matter, ever have problems. I'm sure it's just glow plugs or what busguy7272 said. The old 7.3s are great engines, as are the Duramax and any Cummins (latter being my choice). I don't like the 6.0 and 6.4 because they're really temperamental about things, but they're not "bad" engines (as I used to view them).

  • Needs a glow plug controller, not the plugs. The controllers usually melt down and separate at the posts. Very common.

  • change the fuel filter...prolly got some bad diesel

  • Usually what my 6.0 does when I get water in the fuel. Change that 60 dollar set of fuel filters every oil change TRUST ME, dont be scared to get diesel on you when draining the water out of the pump on the frame rail. I drain it as soon as that damn water light comes on! keep that allen wrench in the pocket of your door, little bastard is hard to keep up with.

  • believe it or not i have a 2005 f250 6.0 and at the ford plant they told me it could be dirt oil if it takes it a long time to start.

  • powerjoke haha peice of shit

  • id rather be gettin pwerstroked than cummin everywhere

  • i bet he naver used the glow plugs

  • duramax cannot, CANNOT out pull a powerstroke, my buddys friend rags on his all the time, says a 7.3 will kill his very own 6.6 duracrap

  • chevy is way better then fuckin ford!!!!! fuck that damn power stroke chevy will out pull a ford any day!!!i think i know what is wrong with your truck ITS ONE ITS PERIOD BUY A TAMPON FOR THAT PEACE OF SHITE!!!!!!! CHEVY RULES

  • well, its not ford, its international?..and its not chevy is some foreign country across the world that makes the dmax?

  • crazy fag...

just bla bla bla bla...you fucking cock...

  • if u new wut the fuck was wrong with it u wudnt say that was a ford for u because that makes no since u fukn idiot

  • yep thats a ford for you

  • at least it started unlike durashit

  • yeah i hate chevy too

  • why because they pass your ass up when your on the side of the road and your pissed because you cant afford a chevy

  • yo cummings is the best and always will be the best so yeah

  • its funny, i own a ford a chevy and a dodge all diesels and i love my fords but if i wanted to go with something to make alot of power i would choose the chevy for a street rod and the dodge for a puller. i hate to admit but i know that the fords cant stand up to the chevys and dodges and the money ive already put into my ford i shouldve stuck with the Dmax but for the farm rig i do like my ford. sorry if this makes you guys mad but its stupid to bitch about it!this is coming from a ford guy!

  • i have never seen a duramax broke down unlike power jokes

  • truck did the same exact thing i think glow plugs to

  • My duty did that this winter a bit. changed glowplugs and no problem after.

  • What? That japanese piece of shit diesel? No, Ill stick to PSD, Cummins, and CATS

  • lol, no isuzu no more, why are you so fucking dumb?

  • yeah right fuck duracrap it might last ya 100k those foreign pos motors

  • duramax isn't isuzu no more stupid fuck

  • Ya, DMAX i still owned by Isuzu

  • You fucker it sounds like it is almost out of fuel. Winding it up like that aint going to help you either

  • new glow plugs

  • take care of your ford you faggot

  • Shut your 18 year old mouth, asshole.

  • Use the fucking Engine block heater that wont happen, and clean the fuel lines an injectors cause the fuel is all fucking gelled up, i never have a problem wit my 02 excursion 4x4 7.3L psd b/c i plug in the engine heater

  • its white smoke and thats usually coolant.

  • lol, yeh coolant...

This really made me laugh out loud, srry

  • u didnt have to be a jerk about it...explain why its funny?

  • oh yh ok soz i forgot

  • looks like glow plugs or its got way too much fuel goin to it

  • i'm thinkin' the FPR....

  • i would take it to the dealership i have heard about issues on some of the newer ford diesles i have a 88 f350 crew cab 7.3 liter non turbo i love the old IDI engines very trustworthy

  • my momma says ford is good i like ford

  • I have a 2001 F350 7.3 powerstroke it does the same when it gets cold i am about to check the relay and glow plugs this weekend thank you for the video.

  • AWSOME is that a 7.3 ?

  • sounds like a 6.0... hard to tell with that oddball exhaust. the 7.3's, while they're cranking, seem to sound a little deeper. 6.0 has a higher pitch to it when it's cranking. i dunno, i could be wrong on this one, hard to say.

  • naw, actually nevermind, definitely 7.3. 6.0's had a different shaped exhaust tip, it's cut off square, but on 7.3's including this one, the tip is cut at an angle.

  • what is the temp out , and do you have a chip or tuner, because if its colder out and you have a tune or chip in it,it is dumping too much fuel into the engine and is flooding it,check the tale pipe to see if raw fuel is coming out,if it is take the chip or tune out and that should fix it

  • White Smoke you got bad glow plugs or bad timing.

  • somthing is wrong with that truck ppl i think the timing might be off like stated below

  • spark plugs arefukd lol it happend to my old 81 mini

  • no plugs on a diesel to much fuel in the clyinders

  • its a diesel dumbass no sparkplugs

  • it cranks fast!!!!!!! still smokin wen not tryin to start

  • F-ord-O-wners-R-ecommend-D-odge

  • either glowplugs bad or timing is off.

  • bad or leaky injector would be my guess...my cummins acted like that and i had to replace a nozzle...

  • Most of these Powerstoke hating asshole, have never even OWNED a Ford. And please you can't even compare the Turdra to an F-250. Show me ONE Toyota pickup that can tow 13,000 pounds or more. Oh wait you can't because they can't even tow 10,000 pounds lol. Let's see, even Toyota has publicy stated that they are "embarrased" of all the problems the new Tundra has had; paint rubbing off, premature rust, blown camshafts, interior parts falling off. The list goes on and on.

  • My neighbor used to have a problem like this and we would usually go out to a bar and I would come back out stuff a potato up his exhaust pipe. My phone records indicated that I didn't do it. Anyhow, he came home and then took advantage of my bathroom and just shipattled on everything. My wife was mad, she woke up in the middle of the night and had beer feces all over her face. I drove my semi over to his house, parked in his front yard, got stuck. It wasn't a low-buck recovery. What a fuckstick

  • Typical Ford

  • it may be glow plugs fuel heater or valve cover harnesses

  • gotta b a bad injector!

  • holy shinto. my piece a s#$t d max will do that at minus 20 or 30 lol

  • Looks like it's time for a new glow plug relay switch and possibly glow plugs.

  • THATS A FORD FOR YOU caps**

  • need new glow plugs?

  • Comment removed

  • no usually it is the glow plugs then if you eliminate those you check the relays ,lift pump and the the pump timing.

  • could be plugged fuel filter.

  • dam nice truck wish mine started that fkin good, takes me 47 mins an 8 seconds to get mine started then it quits for another 45 secs then it starts hopefully.... after a 6 pack. gets cold in cab an dick goes down thats all i know, good luck. broooooo on ur problemmoo

  • heh... right... i've had that much trouble trying to start a duramax before... and cummins. all depends on if theres glow plugs or if the glow plugs are working correctly..
