@Santa ah I thought you were talking about Audio missing from Andy's clip not ken's. Yes I cut the initial part out when you were constantly telling him to pull slowly at the initiation
I think it's interesting that the cravat never budges until that surge at the end. I think it was very near stall for a moment, from all the right brake I had to pull to keep it from diving left. Then the surge after the near-stall finally shakes out the cravat halfway. The next day, my left shoulder felt like I had been pitching fastballs all day :)
Cool, so there is some audio missing due to the edit and it's when I asked Ken to take an extra wrap and then pull really slowly at the beginning. That was an error on my part. I should have been happy with the SAT's he was doing as they were fundamentally quite good. I was just really excited for him to be progressing so nicely. I suppose that this is a common error for maneuvers coaches. We learn. For a time last year, we had gone 1500 tows with no water landings.
I clearly heard the throw request over the radio. A few seconds were spent clearing lines tangled around me, quite a mess. Then more lines to clear to get the reserve pulled. More seconds pass, and a number of tugs on the bridle before it partially opened. Small mistakes can grow large when not dealt with quick and proper. Glad it was over water! Thanks Chris.
Iain, there was more video of Andy on my camera. You may not have copied everything. Thanks for posting for me.
Yeah, thanks Frew Z. Quick ? Where's the audio when I tell him to throw etc? Seemed like it was missing. I would be interested to know because I think Ken and people on the beach heard those transmissions.
Thank you Chris Santacroce / Super Fly, for your tremendous infusion of high energy, experienced, insightful, articulate paragliding instruction... to your Seattle Team and Nation.
