cobh8crew2009,How easy to form an opinion of something you know nothing about you brainwashed fuckwit..You obviously get walked all over a great deal in your life and are to chickenshit to stand up for yourself..Do you know what Royal Mail profits were this year ? Do you know someones fuckin' your wife ?
thats right go to work be slaves and do what ur told and have no workers rights COBH8CREW2009 if we all had ur attitude the country would have a minimum wage of £1.50 an hour and no breaks YOUR A TOTAL IDIOT
Yep, when the Conservatives get into power next Spring, we can all kiss goodbye to employees rights.
They opposed the minimum wage at every step. That's the first thing they'll abolish. The Tories want an army of 3 million sub-minimum-wage-slaves as a source of cheap labour for fat-cat employees.
And we can kiss goodbye to public services as we know it. The Tories have nothing but contempt and loathing for public spending on schools/hospitals/transport.
I agree that it's wrong for employers to exploit workers, and right that workers should stand up for legitimate rights.
The reason I think postal workers are stupid to strike is that it's guaranteed to have exactly the opposite effect to protecting their jobs. They're guaranteeing the loss of millions of pounds of contracts. Amazon is just the first. This will eventually lead to the loss of thousands of Royal Mail jobs.
of course there are dozens. I used TNT as an example only.
When Royal Mail are a dim and distant memory do you think TNT or DHL or any of the other carrier services are going to take a letter to the other end of the country for pennies. Not going to happen and then we'll all be screwed.
AN NO, I AM NOT A POSTAL WORKER OR ANY WAY INVOLVED WITH ROYAL MAIL. I do however have regard for other people and what they are battling for. (This is a general comment not aimed at anyone in particular).
So postal workers are "stupid" for wanting to protect their jobs, their families, their income, their way of life.
If you let yourself be walked over by your employers that's entirely up to you but these people are doing what they need to do to ensure their jobs are there in the future.
And do you not see the irony in stating that all your correspondence is done by email or the fact that Amazon have withdrawn their contract. When the only option is TNT you'll be singing a different song.
Here are some alternatives to Royal Mail. You say TNT is the only option, but for businesses the options include: Interparcel DHL APC CollectPlus Fedex City Link CitiPost Why do you say the only option is TNT??? And what about the hundreds of small businesses going to the wall because cheques stuck in the post have killed their cash flow? If the employees of Royal Mail want to protect jobs, going on strike is the worst possible thing they could do.
Tell me then at which point should the postal workers say "so lets get crapped on because, God forbid, we don't want to disrupt anyone elses lives". Do you actually understand the term "to strike". Do you seriously think they are doing it for a giggle?
It seems to me, from what I've read and heard, going on stirke is the ONLY option they have.
You'll be surprised to hear that we're in agreement on more than you think.
I agree that it's important to defend the principle of a postal service that is a real service to the whole of Britain at a reasonable cost to the user. And the principle of treating workers decently, vital.
However, what I disagree with is the tactics. However justified the cause, the effect of strikes will cripple Royal Mail and put far more postal workers jobs in danger than not striking.
you disagree with the tactics so i ask you WHAT OTHER OPTION IS THERE ??? do they go back to work and take whatever comes because for the last year they have been talking and its all one way and changes are being imposed not discussed SO TELL ME WHAT SHOULD WE DO ??? GO ON WHATS THE BIG PLAN HOT SHOT ?????
hello KingHotDog - Here's the plan: Each postal worker puts £200 into a kitty to produce a £6million fund to hire a national PR/lobbying company.
This will fund a national publicity campaign to explain to the public and government the reasons for the postal workers dissatisfaction.
The majority of the public are ignorant of the fact that our national postal service is being run down. A publicity campaign will force government to re-think its policies.
we would support you of course we would,if you didnt shit on us in the process! now we all get blacklisted and bad credit reports because we do not get out paper bills on time giving way to late payments...ARE YOU GOING TO FUCKING FEED MY FAMILY NOW I HAVE NO CASH AFTER BECOMING BLACKLISTED BECAUSE OF YOUR STRIKES?. phhh!
You wouldn't support me. It's nothing to do with me. I AM NOT A POSTAL WORKER. But to respond to your question, who is going to feed the postal workers' families while they are all being crapped on from a great height. Why the hell do YOU think you're so fucking special that these guys shouldn't have the right to fight for their jobs? Is your world so small that you are the only important person in it? Fucking think before you comment eh? THINK OF OTHERS.
Oh bring out the fucking violins,I dont give a fuck what you think but I will say im the complete opposite kind of person you seem to think i am,im just sick of all the fucking strikes they have and then have fuckers like you spouting off with woe.they do it to often and dont seem to give a fuck about millions of others going into the red because of the fallout from the strikes.its not all about them either you know.
Thank you for that considered effort at a response. You just made yourself look a complete twat.
So answer me this Mr Smartarse. HOW THE FUCK IS A 24 HOUR STRIKE GOING TO AFFECT YOU? If you go into the red because of a 1 day strike, then that is down to YOUR bad organisation, and not the postmen.
Jesus christ - what is wrong with you people. Are you all throwbacks to the Thatcherite years of "I'm OK Jack, fuck you"?
i would love to see your response if you were in the same position.
hello slartyuk - both you and Charlienmeg have weakened your own arguments MASSIVELY by reducing your comments to slanging matches with foul language and disrespect.
You both have valid points. Why can't you debate on an intelligent and respectful level without demeaning yourselves and detracting from the force of your own arguments?
The issue of Royal Mail and the principles involved are far too important to be arguing with the language of uneducated teenage street gangs.
lol u are now no different by having a go at both at them now u have involved yourself with no constructive debate on your side either STUPID AS A STUPID DOES
What I was criticising was foul language and infantile mud-slinging. I wasn't doing the same as them at all. Surely you can see the difference between constructive criticism and mud-slinging?
And it is constructive debate to warn that strikes are guaranteed to destroy the postal service as we know it, and will cause more job-losses than even the Royal Mail employers have in mind.
ur right its not all about us its about workers rights u must work somewhere with job security or u have no job at all but if u worked in royal mail u would be no different from any postie GIVE THEM SUPPORT or BE A YES MAN and give up everything
This is good news about amazon,I will now buy more from amazon rather than other places thatuse the postal service. I do not want to support the UK postal service one bit.
come on the postal workers i support you in your strike. show those fat cats it dosnt have to be about profit espically for a public service.
stay strong lads.

The ultimate irony is that a national postal strike will help the Tories into power at the next election.
Wait and see how sympathetic the
Tories will be to the notion of Royal Mail as a public service, or the notion of employee rights.

I can't believe how stupid the strikers are. How can they possibly win the support of the public when they make the public suffer so much.
Small businesses are going bust because these militants have hijacked our post.
I'm delighted that Amazon has withdrawn their contract with Royal Mail, and I hope other businesses do the same.
I try to use the post as little as possible. I do most correspondence by email. The strikers can't attack our email system at least.
