the zaniks c bow is for monster killing preferably slayer

i have 99 rng and i can hit a 50+ with bone bolts again a slayer task with the spec

it is not for killing ppl and the spec is used against ppl who are using pray

it does about double the damage against ppl who are using pray

You have to time it just right. The special attack makes you hit instantly, so attack once normally. Right after the normal hit strikes, you click the special attack bar twice very quickly, making you hit two more times instantly.

I'd assume the Granite Mace being used by pures that use Rune C'bows/Throwing Knives with a Unholy book, since it only takes the weapon slot.

It's the special attack that makes it that powerful. The special uses up 50% of the bar. The bow also has almost double the ranged bonus as the regular bone bow.

For normal, nonspecial attack hits, maybe 2 hits higher than the normal bone c'bow. You should also hit more often too, considering it gives almost double the ranged attack bonuses.

The Chosen Commander. You can only get the bow from the quest, so yes you need to do it. The granite mace can be wielded without doing the quest though.

Yes, the crossbow is obtained only from the quest. Believe it or not, but it uses just the normal 3 gp bone bolts! So yes, that 40 was hit with a bone bolt!
