She's gorgeous! They do this when they're overheated…when mine get this hot, I make sure and wet under their legs, like at their armpit. That's where their natural air conditioners are. We keep a horse trough filled with water in our backyard for our GSP's, just so they can cool down after intense exercise. I've seen a dog overheat and die, it's not pretty. They absolutely do not know when to stop, so we as owners need to have some wisdom for them. She's a gorgeous dog!
haha i wish my dog could have got that tired, we used to take him on long long walks and hed still be hyper afterwards...i love when she drags herself across the floor...classic
Just wanna apologize for all the people thinking you need dog care advice. Your dog is beautiful and healthy and obviously very happy. What's her name?
My GSP does the same thing...comes inside from a wild game of "flying squirrel" and promptly collapses in a panting mess on the tile in the foyer or my husband's shower...tongue hanging out, sounding like a freight train...it takes him about 10 minutes to recover and then sure enough, he's at the back door ready to go again! He'll be 8 in November and JUST THIS YEAR started slowing down ever so slightly. LOVE GSPs!!!
@theosgr8 Shut the hell up, seriously. Until you learn about, own or witness a GSP outside of YouTube, avoid spreading your opinions. These dogs are /extremely/ - I cannot stress this enough; I own one - high energy breeds. The dog in the video may be tired, but trust me, seeing a German Shorthaired Pointer or any dog rambunctious or obese is way more concerning than a dog happy to have the energy outlet its breed requires.
This breed has soo much will to please they will actually run themselves to death. I have a swimming pool for my GSP that helps alot in the Summer. It's not good for them to get that worn out. Mine can be the crazy ball dog at times. I start throwing the ball in her pool when she gets this way. Consider one of those cheap blue plastic swimming pools at K-Mart, etc... She is lying on the floor to cool off not because she is tired. If you give her this she can live to 18 years. She's pretty &fast.
check his heart rate, if hes not able to bring it down under a reasonable time then visit your vet. nn to worry , its just the first impression of this heavy breathing makes me think she should be checked upon
@coltondip10 Dogs dont pant just because they are out of breath. They pant to lose heat which is what is happening here. She is is in some discomfort here and is lying on the tiles to try to cool down. If you dont have pool for her to stand in then get the garden hose out, and fast.
hehehe he's so tired he cant get up. My pointer NEVER gets that tired. We can play ball for hours and she's a little tired, not totally pooped like this. Its a major feat youve accomplished, glad u got it recorded otherwise id put it in the bigfoot/loch ness myth bin.
hahahahahahaha. yeah we took her for a two mile run and she still wasnt tired so we threw the ball for her for about another 20 minutes lol. it was also over 100 degrees lol. she has never been this tired again though lol
I have a german short haired pointer also. I just have one quetion for you how did you get your GSP that exsuasted? they have such a high energy level its insane. I let me GSP run all day let him in at like 10 o clock and he still wants to play. Whats crazy about it is he is nearly 10 years old!!(had him sense he was a pup)
dang, what did you do to that dog? ;-) My gsp only gets like that if it's 95 degrees outside or if he's been running for about 12 hours straight. I think I've seen him tired about 2 times in 3 years...

GSPs are very high temperature dogs. theyre from a cold climate but have short hair because their bodies create heat efficiently. -GSP father

Must have had a very good workout. I wish I could ware out my pointer to this point.
Also, I was kind of worried that my dog has an unusually long tongue, but seeing your dog reassured me she's just fine.

I wish I could tire my GSP out after just 200 throws, it took about 5 hours of playing with a lab to get him so tired.
