  • Ah hurricane ivan also known to me as the boomerang storm!

  • I remember being in elementary school in Pittsburgh and looking out the window and it was raining so hard but I remember getting home and i lived at a bottom of a hill and going down in to my basement and having it flooded 3 feet deep. But thats nothing compared to what people down in Florida got.

  • i was all into the footage, and, the transition at 13:17 scared me. :(

  • I was caught in Ivan it was unreal how long it lasted, and the damaged it caused. Yes people are hired to track them. We to have two things in mind, staying safe and getting the news out.

  • I live in gulf shores and i remember ivan! It was terriable.

  • we got hit in pensacola. we had blue roofs for five years. katrina and ike didnt help either

  • I'm a power lineman from N.C. i was in gulf shores Ala.the day after to help put power back on.We were there for 2 months because ivan took all poles and lines and threw them in the ocean.Plus the storm surge was so high it wiped out a substation completely was nothin left but a big square fence. But after 2 months we got all power on and the people of gulf shores treated us very good

  • i actually live in Foley which is the next city right above Gulf Shores, i go fishing and to the beach alot, it is gorgous here and has the best beaches ive ever been too, the sand is the best you will see out of almost everwhere you go. We have alot of fun out there and we got caught out in a storm the other day and boy do those waves get big,but to we went out and were riding huge ground sweels, those are so fun to ride, but you cant forgot the huge red snapper here, so much fun here

  • I'm from Grand Cayman :(

  • This is really upsetting for me to see , I was living in Gulf shores about 3 blocks from were this was being shot, At teh time i was working at Hooter's which faced The gulf, The day before while at work , I had thsi funny feeling That woudl never stand in this same location again ,Scarry how right i was

  • at 4:22 it looks an tsumani

  • Why not just turn on the headlights of the Isuzu?

  • @didier350 The saltwater from the storm surge would have fried the Isuzu's electrical system.

  • At some point I moved into the kitchen. Think it was slightly quieter. Next morning discovered a huge oak tree next to the kitchen had been blown down, but away!! not towards!! It was a wondrous experience. Stayed up observing the chaos. Realized I was just scaring myself. Went to bed. Different beds. Didn't know the average house could take a hit from a giant oak. There were a lot of giant oaks! Anxious beyond belief! Awesome experience. In the republican low wage dreamland few can survive.
  • Went through the hell that was Ivan in Pensacola. The eye went over us as well. Never thought it would end.

  • Lived in Niceville ,fla when Ivan hit.

    My first (known) hurricane.

Laying in my living room (I thought safer than my bedroom) I could feel the air rush out of my lungs with

every wind gust. Very strange sensation.

Gained a better understanding of hurricanes.

    Left florida shortly after Katrina.

Good riddance. Republican low wage existence is contraindicated by disastrous events.

    Nuff said.

  • my name is ivan hahahahahahahahaha

  • One of the hurricanes i followed the most i was 14 and every morning before school and after i was glued to the tv watching this unfold i lived in southern alabama and when it came towards us we had 3 tornadoes around us one a few min from my parents house we stayed up all night when it hit thanks for posting this video ive never seen some of this footage

  • this took place on my birthday

  • i was watching a video about videogames. how the HELL did i get here?

  • @bluelink4sword I don't know but forget videogames man you want a real rush study and watch weather anything about weather tornadoes, hurricanes, thunderstorms and supercells

  • 11:35 SOUNDS LIKE SOMEONE IZ SIPPING THE LAST BIT OF SODA

  • What is the name of the job to track and record information about dangerous storms? It caught my interest.

  • @silvercharizard2 Meteorologist.

  • i live in Oklahoma..and we dnt get hurricanes in our area..but we only have torandoes though but huge ones..and we get heavy rain and strong winds..god i dnt lke bad weather...its sucks..ass...i hate my town its sucks too lOl ?

  • One place una neva looked at was grand cayman..dats where im from...i remember wen ivan hit us ike it was yesterday

  • aww f!ck im a killer!

  • I remember Ivan ! We got the leftovers here in Tn.. We had winds of 50mph all the way up here.

  • i know ivan had the largest wave ever recorded at 93 ft. but how high was the storm surge?

  • me and my friends went to pensacola beach to look at it, lol

  • AburridOO ;S

  • Was that lightning at 15:23?? I had no idea Ivan had lightning associated with it

  • @elekktrode Some of it is lightning but mostly you are seeing the glow of powerlines arcing or transformers exploding. It is rare to have lightning in a hurricane- usually it is confined to the most intense convection or thunderstorms.

  • that was the worst 17 hours of my life..

  • How far did the isuzu "travelled" from the place where you left it?

  • @AMLJ37 About a block. It would have gone farther but it got stuck on a light pole on the north side oh Hwy 182.

  • at 27:29 the view down the main road in gulf shores, looks like a scene out of some post apocalyptic futuristic movie. sand on the road, signs blown over, windows blown out, and power lines down.

  • Thanks for putting this together. I've often wondered why they don't have cameras mounted in hurricane prone areas to record the fury. I was born and still reside in Baldwin County. I rank Ivan as one of our worst. Freddy in '79 was bad too, as well as Katrina. Keep up the work. It is completely amazing!

  • i live on a basin of Blackwater river just outside of pensacola, fl and we had waves crashing at our back porch. i think the river was up about 12 -13 feet. it was definitely one of the most badass things i've ever seen.

  • i would have wanted to sit in the truck well this was happening and smoke a joint LOL

  • haha wouldnt that trip your shit out eh?

  • Good thing you guys weren't on Pensacola Beach when it landed. Because they got hit the hardest.

  • i was with those people

  • awsome coverage you get a ten

  • i remember this hurricane like it was yesterday! man i went down there after it went away and tore Gulf Shores up!

  • You guys ever came close to getting killed? Kinda dangerous work. Not for me since I'm from Krypton. And, no, I can't interfere with the events of human history. Sorry, I can't stop hurricanes.

  • is ivan the worst hurricane ever? yet

  • no the largest wave ever was 1,775 feet high

  • The largest wave was in california in 1976 at Newport Beach 654,928 feet high!

  • i live in the flordia panhandle man it was scary we took shelter in a school and our house was torn up

  • My namr is Ivan

    im a beast

  • LOL MY NAME IS IVAN TOO....WE KICK ASS

  • You from Russia? -Supergirl

  • NO IM NOT U?

  • I'm from Krypton. Ever heard of me? -Supergirl

  • That was really something trust me i know Monroeville,Alabama aint that far for gulf shores Hurricane Ivan tore everthing down.We couldn't get down the road cause trees blocked us off.

  • So what? Thats stupid thinking. I shouldnt eat anything tonight because kids in africa dont have clean water to drink. Florida was devestated in 2004. Show some respect for that. They are americans after all

  • i lived through irvan the strom more inland too in atmore alabama the wrost strom ever i lived through.

  • thanks i think i'll buy it...2004 was a memorable year for me. I live in AL and 2004 started my interest in hurricanes

  • is there any way i can save this video?

  • Not off of YouTube. We do sell our 2004 DVD which chronicles Ivan and the other events of the 2004 hurricane season. I would recommend you consider buying the DVD from our web site. I think you would find it a worthwhile purchase.

  • @hurricanetrack i bought this dvd!

  • @hurricanetrack can you give me of estimated gusts in pensacola florida, also, i some place ivans sustained winds at landfall near 120, others 125, and others 130. based on the damage, what do you think is most likely

  • yes, i loved ivan! iwas 8 miles north of gulf shores, eye wall and all. it was amazing. i was only 12 when fredrick hit mobile sept, 12 1979 and the trees that were down everywhere. on the roads.been thru fredrick, erin, opal, gustav, danny, ivan and there are 2 more i can't remember names.

  • Wow Man!! That Verry Awosome Great Job Guy

    5/5

    And wish we see more!

  • these videos r so cool i dont want to be in a hurricane but these videos help figure out the dangers of them

  • Thanks! I appreciate that. It is hard to believe though that Ivan was almost 5 years ago now. My goodness how time flies!
