I am seriously blow away by what you can do with so few notes and such simple techniques. Going back to watch the basic videos and practice from them now (yes, yes, I'll get your book later).
Wow, nice instrument!A friend of mine was thinking of buying it but was put off by the price(i believe it was 2k)...anyway,just out of curiosity, are you a professional piano player?i was sure you are until i heard in one of your vids that you had to do a lot of typing for work.
@nikolas8ira4 I'm actually an advertising copywriter (though I do a lot of corporate training work, too). My degree was English and Music, and I started out as an English teacher before I started my business :)
By the way, Bill, aside from musical instruction, even for example in this little vid, it's the rhythm that struck me as "important to learn". It may seem a simple thing, but I find it very helpful to mimic your rhythmic embellishments to get the two hands to "feel" the whole structure of pop (in this case), one more thing to get under my fingers. Thanks!
Cool, I love red. My flightcase is bout that colour too :)
What kind of amp are you getting? I have a Hartke KM100 for playing in the band, its pretty good but changes the sound colour a bit. Somehow it just sounds better with headphones.
For at home I'm waiting for the Audioengine A5+. it's 2 bookshelfspeakers with build in amp. They sound awesome (wider frequency range than the hartke) and easy to take with you.
@JeroenvanKleef A fairly bog-standard Roland KC110. Will probably go for a speaker set up soon, but am moving house next year, so I want to see what kind of space I need to fill :)
Very helpful video as always. Thank you. I would love to see a video where you add different layers of notes to a song as you work through it,just as acer1994 asked for...thanks again for these tutorials!
@cain1s Hmmm - not a bad idea - will give that one some thought. You mean adding depth and complexity to a melody line rather than off the melody improvisation, right? Glad you like the vids!
Nice rig Bill. The trail has gone a bit cold for me as far as my piano practicing. Home improvements, new flooring, kids at university and high school athletics all seem to gobble up time. Appreciate the new ideas - definitely appears useful and do-able. Will give it a go. PS is that a gigging instrument or does it stay at home? Oh, and you forgot to plug your book! ABC always be closing if you want the knife set.
@threehourzsleep D'oh! Sorry Matt - knew I forgot something :) It's going to be a bit of both - I got something that's good for practising and mucking around on, but which is also robust enough to gig with. Get back to practicing, else I'll name and shame you in the next vid!

What does the far left pedal do? I have one and I don't notice anything when I press it down and play.
Skadoosh417 3 months ago
@Skadoosh417 It's a soft pedal - you won't notice a great deal on most digitals. I'm planning to make a video about it soon :)
