Dolly Parton Would Rather Only Wave

Dolly makes time for her fans a lot more than you might ever know. It's amazing how she manages to make time at all, considering how busy she tends to be for the most part. She is still very down-to-earth and very friendly in person. Anyone who criticizes her is simply not looking at the whole picture. There are moments when celebs are not able to give autographs, etc. At least she waves to acknowledge her fans. I bet there are some celebs who don't even do that much.

She gives a lot to her fans and works very hard to please people. She's been pleasing people all her life. I find she is very gracious here, she's obviously on a tight schedule, takes time to acknowledge and wave; She pours 200 percent of herself in everything and gives enormously to charity, much of which not publicised. Every time she stands out,sings, performs, somebody is ready to applaud and somebody else to criticise. She has to hang on to her soul, nobody owns her.

It's not really Dolly's fault for things like this happening; it's her management. Ever since she's been managed by Danny Nozzell [her "bodyguard" in the film clip] and his team so much has changed. It may be good for her, but not so good for her fans. She's become less approachable in the past few years choosing to let many people see her but only certain people meet her. That's why she's now more prone to rushing in to places, only waving at crowds and holding meet-and-greets for her shows.

@WJTV113 thx for the info. but that said, doesn't she choose her mgmt and/or make the rules that they abide by? i would think she must have some say in all this, as it is the image she is projecting out to the world.

@ms9 I'm sure she does make the rules. I didn't mean to suggest she had no control over anything. What I meant was that her management team [CTK Management] she has chosen and is working with may be taking things a bit far. As I stated this may be good for her but it is not so good for her fans. It's as if for all this time she was very accessible but now she's almost over-protected. She does have a say in everything and she is projecting a certain image to the world, it just has stipulations.

I met Dolly in Nashville. She is truly a down-to-earth real, beautiful inside and out, absolutely amazing person. She lit up the room when she walked in & the light left when she left. I know people in the music business & everyone has nothing to say but good about Dolly. So, if anyone's questioning her true character, then one only needs to see her own stage. Dolly is Dolly - a beautiful & genuine soul. As far as her waving, maybe she was on a time schedule or there was security concerns?

I love Dolly. She's one of the sweetest, kindest celebs out there. The fact that she waved hello, when she was being rushed and that she smiled, that she ACKNOWLEDGED her fans when she didn't have to, says a lot. Is it odd that I know the names of three of the people in the elevator? Her manager, Danny Nozzell, her best friend and PA, Judy Ogle, and her wardrobe designer, Steve Summers. Weird!

At least Dolly takes the time to acknowledge fans or people in a crowd, even if only waving hello to them. I've seen some on video who act like no one else is around. Perhaps it's not so much to be rude or act like a Diva, but some other reason most people do not know about. It's got to be tough to handle situations like this, especially for the nice celebs like Dolly. I love Dolly, been a fan for almost 30 years. BTW, she is never a b----. She's too sweet and down-to-earth.

OMG!!! I'm so excited about this website. I've been a faithful fan of Dolly's since way back in the Porter Wagoner days and Breeze commercials.... hahaha.... her new manager is protecting her from crazy people. shes getting older she has to have protection now. And i dont blame her i have seen some of the freaking cray people that stalk her everywhere she goes. its sad that people are like that.

she wouldn't need to worry about stalkers on her way into this place with all the security detail here. that might be if she's walking alone or something. if what you say is the case, then she needs to strike a balance between greeting fans and avoiding stalkers.

I think that is what is going on here, though. I don't think Dolly is ever rude to anyone when she actually meets them (I have met her and she was extremely kind and gracious). It's just that she does not have time to sign EVERY person's autograph. In your case, it appears that she wouldn't have had time to give attention to all of you. I have heard some rather scary experiences Dolly has had, so I can't blame her for having protection with her and being a bit leary.

I have had my lifelong dream of meeting Dolly. As a fanatic, I've heard all the tales of those not so fortunate. You have to understand that you can only be so nice in this business or else you are taken advantage of. Dolly's outgoing and approachable personality is as legendary as she is, but believe me, she can also be a bitch. I say that with all love and respect...I worship this woman mind you!

I also disagree with the notion of Dolly having a big head! I have seen Dolly 74 times in concert and have had her autograph many, many times with her being ever so gracious. I don't ask her for it anymore, only because I have been so fortunate, I'll give someone else the chance. You just gotta be at the right place at the right time! The key is "the right" time. She may be rushed for a reason we do not know. Good Luck to you!

well i can say i've been a fan of many different celebrities, but when i then have the "pleasure" of meeting the real one, i can sometimes do a complete 180 and hate them forever. in dolly's case i was expecting it, though, as i heard how bad she is. let me know if you ever meet her and find otherwise, thx.

Nothing bad about dolly - i can c why you are disapointed but she was only there for a moment & if she stops to talk to fans it's goin' to hold her up - she may b runnin' late...Everyone I have ever spoken to that have met her has only praise - can't say there are many stars of her stature that still meet their fans like dolly does

I saw her when she did a concert in Cardiff. When she was leaving she was hushered away by her bodyguard. But as the car pulled away she must have seen people shouting for her and she had the car stop. She came out and signed autographs etc and the 'burly' body guard was telling her to hurry and she said "Shuv off." lol Was so funny. But Dolly is as real as they come. Propper down to earth Lady. :) Sorry she dissapointed you that day.
