I don't really approve of what was said around the fire after the story though, don't have an awesome ending where it's implied a stressed out buttmonkey takes to feeding people who piss him off to a monster in return for rewards and then cop out and say "oh he didn't really feed his bratty sister to it, he just made her behave! How? Err".

Don't be afraid to have a proper horror ending.

This was undoubtably the darkest ending they ever had on the show (I'm still amazed they got it on the air; the Nick censors must have been drunk on the job that day). What's creepiest is the smile on the kid's face at 2:09-2:13. Looking at that, you just know he's going to end up like his uncle.

Darkest episode of the series by far, even with that tacked on "oh, he didn't REALLY feed his sister to the monster" bit at the end. The smile on the kid's face at the end speaks the truth; that he's going to end up just like his uncle. I still don't know how this episode slipped past the Nick censors, but I'm glad it did.

But the uncle was eventually found dead in the basement at the foot of the root celler, which implies he either (a) forgot to feed it or (b) refused to feed it and it therefore killed him. It seems likely Andy will suffer the same fate.
