  • i love you jordan

  • Jordan Rudess is the best in the world................his fingers are like streams of running water..........

  • What an unbelievable journey that was! Thank You Sir!

  • that piano is damn shiny

  • Jordan Rudess..........thank you so much for posting this! It is absolutely amazing work, and gave me immense peace of mind.....it's so beautiful and calming. Thank you for being a stunning musician and for posting parts of your musical self like this for us all to see :)

  • It's weird how this doesn't have more views. I mean, here we have the greatest keyboard player of all time improvising a seven minute piece of pure awesome, and it only has 7k views.

  • im gonna go... shoot myself... cause i can pretty much die happy now!!!!!

  • lmao his hands are alive and rebelling !!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • This sounds awesome.

Sounds like a movie sound track.

    Very inspiring. :)

    :) TSF

  • O man, 1:57 - 2:23 made my day.

  • I lol'd at the last silent chord. PERFECT. This might be my favorite improv by you, though it's hard to compete with the dozens that have impacted me in the past.

  • A melhor improvisação do mestre Rudess ever!

  • amazing

  • lovely mood, lovely piano. Thanks for posting. Calls to mind the story of Monk's solo carried out with the hands frozen over the keys, ready to play. And either the bassist or the drummer elated because: "think what's going on in his head!" Couldn't catch all the lyrics, but wish I could. Again, thanks.

  • Thanks Jordan for sharing this with us. Was incredible to watch you play with such honesty and integrity, in such a private setting. I hope you do more like this in the future.

  • I wish I could listen this live... you are really a music wizard... it's amazing what you can create...

  • lol at 1:58 XD

  • Jordan they say music comes from the soul of the player... Your´s is a beautiful, powerful soul. I feel transported when I hear this improvisation I can imagine all sorts of beautiful landscapes mostly in blue when I hear you play this. And you made me cry at 7:00! and I´m a tough guy!! hehe.

Thanks a lot for sharing this with us DT fans (and with everyone in general).

And I really enjoyed filling the gaps in the song, thank you for that as well...

  • Please, Jordan, play a piece by Chopin or Liszt

  • wow Jordan!

  • you're the best!

    thanks from belgium!

  • Awsome JR!

    7:38 of pure magic :)

  • Im out of words. No words can describe how sweet this is. Thanks for sharing JR.

  • 4:22. Love it. Are these your lyrics and everything?

  • 6:45-7:15

  • This improvisation has:

    20% Gershwin

    5% Chopin

    5% Bach

    and

    70% Rudess

    Simply great and Inspiring

    Long live the Keyboard Wizard!!!

  • Best musician ever

  • its funny that i see you posting here, because i seriously thing your a great musician and a GREAT singer :)

  • awesome

    simply awesome

  • "I hope you enjoy it and also can imagine the silent moments. Those are the best parts because it is your own imagination needed to fill in the gap."

Now, I really think you are GREAT. :)))

  • Jordan, I strongly believe that you are the best musician alive right now. A virtuoso, nothing less that that.

  • A good musician is not only a virtuoso. Jordan is a Great High Quality Musician not only for his wonderful technique, but for his creativity and the work he has done with the synthesizer world, his new music is different from what he already made in the past . Personally i think he is the best keyboardist nowadays, if you see the other guys from other bands.

  • cool beat em all

  • Jordon - that was gorgeous.... just wonderful to watch, listen, and be involved in.

Thank you so much for sharing these moments.

  • Wow you're kind of ignorant, huh?

There's no way I could be female.

There's no way I could have actually meant those sentiments.

There's no way you're actually going to be successful in life.

  • @Macycrystal

Take your rude words and get the fuck out.

  • @Macycrystal If I knew where to find you, I would kill you where you stand.

  • Haha sure you would.

  • i wonder who is better... emily bear or jordan rudes???

  • Amazing!! Jordan, you are the best.. I'm anxious to see the concert here in Brazil.

  • Nice, Jordan singing...oh, nice improv too.

  • But may I suggest putting paragraphs in your description. It's quite hard to read.

  • In an odd way, this works very well. It was a number of note before I realised I was making up these notes. Nice effect!

  • The silent note in the end was a perfect touch after such a beautiful outro, everyone can insert a chord they see... or hear fit in there. Jolly good I say!

  • i wish i could rate 10 stars...

  • @Natataek i wish i could rate stars......

  • Using your eyes to listen to music. That's too clever JR... I really enjoyed this piece. I really love notes on a Dream and I would really love to hear an all original grand piano album. *cough*

  • I personally admire how jordan share with us his private moments! can't wait to see him in peru this march!!

  • I love it <3

  • great jordan, just amazing how you can channel it and let it flow.. that simple little end piece activated my frontal lobes i believe..

  • Wow i feel so much things when i hear this impro... master and god Jordan u.u

  • Amazing improvisation!

  • I had chills man...

This is by far the best improv I've ever heard...

  • Nice...wasn't expecting the John Cage "4:33" influence to pop in around 2:00 :P

Gotta love the quirky sense of humor. :D

  • Holy crap man, this is one of my favorite improvisations of yours!

  • 2:20 the keys alone weren't enough to express what he wanted to so he played the rest of the piano too

  • you know what would be a good techniqe? triple spot playing, using 2 hands to form the bass chord, then using one hand to do the treble, going up and down the treble part lol. jordan would do good in that field of course

  • From 0:00 to 1:20 really reminds me of Brad Mehldau his playing style. And man, do I love that guy on piano.

  • For once, I think he's done an improv with just the perfect balance of arpeggios and scales along with rich harmonic content and melodic lines.

  • amen

  • that ending just blew my brain right off

  • wow, this needs to be recorded for an album

  • It would be awesome if you replied to some comments.

A quick and easy thing to do, that would make people extremely happy!

  • you are a great pianist and........your voice is great to wooow ¡

    viva rudess

  • Probably my favorite solo piano piece from you ever.

  • Dream Theater needs to let you have your own song, i mean this is incredibly amazing. It makes me want to play piano, even though i have no idea how to. I havent heard a piano piece from DT since "Wait for sleep." and id love to hear a new one.

  • @JoTown4 there is a piano and vocal only version of wither. it's pretty good, you should check it out

  • You realize that JR has done many solo albums, right?

  • beautiful ♥

  • Really amazing! I'll be getting my first keyboard very soon! Achieving your virtuosity will be my inspiration! :D

  • Was feeling down today and this has made me feel better. Behold, the power of music! I honestly thank you from the bottom of my musically aspiring heart, Jordan. I'm truly grateful to know such talent as yours.

  • jordan you are god

  • that was amazing...........thank you so much for sharing this :)

  • awesomeness!!!

  • What are you thinkng about when you're playing?:) About the feelings you would introduce or your mind is empty or what? I wanna know;)

  • Wow. Will you teach me?

  • wow, i loved the tense opening style, and i really loved the harmonic progressions at the end, very "Tear Before the Rain" of you. Absolutely wonderful. Even your voice has a unique tone that fits perfectly with the style.

  • Ah nothing like hearing the greatest youtube musical channel ever made...I mean it...love these improvisations Mr Rudess

Thanks mr Wizard for sharing this with us mere mortals :-)

    Jordan this truly rocks.

  • @metropofreak view counters are slow xD its still 304

  • Brilliant

  • Always amazing

  • beautiful

  • You could sit with Jordan and a piano for a month and he wouldn't bore you for one second!

  • @animationsofficial

Actually, if you stay with him for a month, it just becomes standard! People shouldn't listen to so much awesomeness, everything will seem boring as hell afterwards.

  • Thank you for this.

  • Holy smokes that was great.

  • I'm usually not moved to make youtube comments on "improv" type playing, but JR has really blown me away on this.

  • this is truly taking music to the next level /o/

    outstanding. brilliant. genious.

    Rock on!

  • AND THEN HE STARTS SINGING.

Jordan, you never cease to completely amaze. :)

  • This is absolutely amazing....the ability to improvise at virtually any given moment.

  • Very inspiring, reminds me of Via Purifico (Final Fantasy X).

  • thank god you recorded that. it would've been a lost treasure.

  • I don't think I'm the only one who got the chills from watcing this. Insanely great impro, Rudess. Thanks for sharing!

  • Comment removed

  • kinda reminds me of a stravinsky-type thing

    very odd.

you should try the 12 tone method (i think thats what its called). where you play all 12 notes, and don't repeat one until you've played the other 11. then again, i'm sure you already have done that, but i'd love to hear what you'd do with it!

  • Yay for awesome improvisation!

  • Very cool. Thank you for posting it!

  • Wow :o

  • Mind = BLOWN! :O

  • Diddo. : O
