@MrAznPillow no it's not. zone defense wasn't allowed in the nba back then. Even though teams used it more then today. when players were caught "not guarding anyone" they were called for illegal defense. it's really complicated. some of the things that were changed with hand checking back in 05.

2000 NBA Playoffs: Blazers at Lakers, Gm 7 -part 3/12
@jose420port Portland was indeed talented but the Lakers ain't no slouches either. In addition to Shaq & Kobe they had Glen Rice, Ron Harper, Robert Horry, Derek Fisher, and Rick Fox. Great supporting cast there.
amazing to look back on this series, with all of the stars and role players that were on both teams and became big stars or big role players in the future. We already knew about Kobe, Pippen, Steve Smith, Shaq, Harper, Detlef, Sabonis, and Horry, but you also got Bonzi, Rasheed, Jermaine O'Neal, Damon Stoudamire, Brian Grant, Derek Fisher, Devean George, and on and on. Amazing just how deep these two teams were, it's no wonder how they were the two best this season.
you are exactly right, these two teams had everything. if you ask me either of these teams would beat the Celtics if they existed at the same time. four game series would be a sweep whether it was the lakers or the blazers.
the depth of the blazers is amazing you have their starting 5 then throw in detlef, bonzi, jermaine (even though he was very young), brain... too bad kobe and shaq were at there peak though
Anyone see that nasty block by J.O!? Damn lol

@Simataa They didn't use a zone back then. They just spaced off their guy. That isn't a zone.

it's the destiny of the gods. Lakers are a team of destiy. Portland is not a team of history. Not like L.A. I'm half kidding here.

Funny thing is Steve Smith and Rasheed Wallace ended up getting championship rings after this, and of course Pippen has 6.

Portland's team had more talent. Lakers had Shaq and Phil.
