I dont care what anyone says, this is a fun game for the Atari 2600. People need to keep in mind, not everyone grew up with the same systems.. my Atari woody was the first system my family owned. We didnt get an Intellivision, Colecovision, or NES until about 90 or 91.
@retlaw1976 That's pretty unfair. The primitive 2600 graphics aren't much to look at but the gameplay is there. Stop judging books by their covers. Besides, what were you expecting from a machine with only 4k of memory?
I love when Popeye dies he disappears into a grey flash and it makes this sound as if he is being disentegrated. I used to crack up as a kid just dying intentionally by walking into the back of Bluto.
I was 5 I think when I got this I was like WOW! 2 of my favorite things are now together as 1 Popeye and Atari. But still I was like why is Popeye tan like orange and wearing an Hawaii flower necklace and why Brutus looks like a walking old cash register or typewriter and Olive Oly looks like a red old lady. But oh well it's Popeye.
Damn I had no idea this came out for the 2600. Not that I would have liked it, it's total SHIT lol the arcade game of Popeye rocked. I will give the music and sound effects credit for this though compared to other arcade renditions on the 2600.
@e11aguru So right! I couldn't believe that one when I saw it. This game is actually really fun. The graphics are not the best, but they do make the characters look nice.
I can't believe I had this Popeye for Atari 2600 what was I thinking look at the grafics I should have had Collecovision that one had real arcade grafics.
@buzzlewie But the prob was We thought these graphics were (FRESH) LOL! Ok the arcade was a bit better depending on the game but man this started the home arcade. Ha if it wasn't for this no PS3/Xbox. We had Atari Colecovision on up I luved this suff now I hate video games LOL! Luv Movies :)

@teakz89 If you think Atari 2600 "Popeye" is bad, look up the Odyssey 2 version. Makes the Atari 2600 version look like Super Nintendo by comparison.
