Hooooooly crap....Hope, Crosby and Wayne showing up on the same night!!! 'Wouldn;t let them leave'.....no host or guest host, past or present, would have passed up an opportunity to have three legends on the stage at the same time.
The age of true talent is gone. You'll never see this type of talent anywhere again. Their movies and specials are still always great to watch after so many years.
To make it in any business, especially back in the day, you have to have a bit of an "ego". You need to think you are good in order to make it and then stay at the top. Did Bob Hope have an ego....I have no doubt he did......but then, so did Frank Sinatra, Jerry Lewis, Bing Crosby......the list could go on and on......and continue to this day. Hell Johnny Carson had a huge ego.
This was such a priceless moment...Four legends for a lifetime, the likes of which we will never see again nor will they ever be duplicated. God bless Don, Bob , Bing and John...Long may their memories live.
John Krasinski, haha, so true, yet so sad. Everyone thinks there a star today and they are not. That clip is talent and star power. Thanks for the clip and memories.
the 70's ruled. i mean any one of those giants could have been there at any moment. Duke. Frank, Cary Grant, Bing, Orson, Stewart, Cagney, Sammy, Lucy, Groucho,
@AxeNewkill The Duke was always pie-eyed and Hollywood embraced this image despite his addictions. When a big-assed drunk starts pontificating & swaggering in a joint rarely do the self righteous, sober ones try to cut him off. They're his adoring minions with no
opinions of their own. Desperate for the moment he'll pay attention to them.
@4evershalom fucking hell. thats THE singer, THE comedian and THE cowboy. you couldnt even estimate how many people have been to see their movies or bought their records. amazing.
I've never liked Bob Hope, too many people have said he was an a-hole.

@dharmaseed No, the three men were in an adjacent studio taping a Bob Hope special when they all decided to pop in to Johnny's show.

WHO are our HEROES today?
Our soldiers perhaps. They don't even get any attention back home...

Great moment in time. 4 legends. I sure miss The old Classic Late Show with Johnny Carson. Jay Leno just doesn't cut it like Johnny did.

Great clip. John Wayne really was larger than life. He really stole the audience from the others when he walked out.
