    i wish i had the internet when i started playing , ( 30 years ago lol )

i like the old timers way of slowing down Records ! remember what they were ? LOL !

    later

  • YOU ARE VERY GOOOD

  • bloody hell u make it look so easy :)

  • :0 omg! just amazing!!

  • kahleberger obviously does not play guitar nor has he watched enough REAL playing to determine this kid is a prodigy. All us REAL players and those who just appreciate the REAL thing know what a fool you are. Get REAL and get a life. Do yourself a favor kahleberger and stay off mommy and daddies PC until you at least get out of kindergarden in a few years.

  • Perhaps you believe that Phil is a fake because your own life is a lie and your 'accomplishments' are not genuine. But an examination of all of his videos has convinced expert guitarists that his music is genuine.

Some unsolicited advice: Be more careful about your slander in the future. You'll cross the wrong guy some day and he'll sue the hell out of ya.

  • Hey douche-bag,..don't you have better things to do with your pathetic existence than to TRY to degrade a child prodigy who has nothing but greatness ahead of him,..something you'll never know a damned thing about,.now go empty that douche-bag!

  • GREAT PLAYING INDEED, GEORGE

  • IT kinda looks like you fast forwaded it.

  • Holy %*&# you're good

  • feckin hell your really good...

Funny when u did it drunk at that party tho XD x

  • nice song!

  • great job!!!!

  • is this a DDSM or DDAE? i can't tell...

  • Phil posted that it is a Doyle Dykes Anniversary Edition.

  • yay! phil your amazing!! but i know that already!! woooo xx

  • Nice...

    keep it up!

  • I like this song... and you play it very well ! 5*****

  • that was unbelievable, you are one of the best ive seen

  • Hey Phil,

You're version of Avalon is really wonderful.

I'm looking forward to your new videos.

I'm sure it will be a succes!

    Luc

  • Phil, you and Luc should find a way to perform and record together! I'll bet that would be quite special.

  • I agree, that they should tray to perform togather, furthermore they both play more or less in the same style. The only problem might be that they live in diferent countries and have diferent native languages.

Phil and Luc are the best non-adult guitar players I have seen on youtube.

  • Luc speaks excellent English, as do most Dutch kids his age. With the Internet, it would actually be easy to accomplish without either one leaving home. One records his part and sends the file to the other, who then multi-tracks his part in and mixes it down to the final version. It can be done with most audio editing software out there.

  • hey man this was great u really are good.

  • Exams?... been over ! Your subs need NEW Content. Go For It.

  • sweet!

  • why do u have a sponcer.. r u in a band or just solo stuff?

  • Man, wicked stuff. Your the flippn man! Do you have tabs or do you just pick this stuff up?

  • AWESOME!

Only need to TAB the foot :P

    But NICE

  • you do awesome work you are full of real talent you should be posted everywhere so everyone can hear you . good job !! jbg

  • Sounds great!!

  • Phil: Have you heard of a boy named Luc Schouten? He's about 13, and a remarkable guitarist specializing in jazz and blues (unless I'm mistaken). He has several videos. Anyhow, he saw your video of Avalon, and publicly admired you for it and thanked you for putting it up. He posted his own version. It's abbreviated and not as clear and clean as yours, but for someone who is playing what is for him a different type of music, he's not bad.

  • Hey man thats some great playing! How long have you been learning for because it seems that most unbelievable musicians start VERY YOUNG!!

Also, what guitar is that? It sounds great and i really need a new one! Thinking of a Taylor.

  • Phil's guitar in this video is a Taylor. It's called a Doyle Dykes Anniversary Edition, if I remember correctly. It was awarded to him by sponsors who were impressed by his dedication and professional level of accomplishment. The guitar in his other three videos is a Fender. It, too, has very nice tone, at least in my opinion.

  • Wow!!! Great rendition of Avalon!!! I like your style of playing...sort of in the Chet Atkins style of playing. Not too many people play this old song anymore, and it's great to hear it once more. The song comes from a southern California, (where I live), island, off of the coast here, called Santa Catalina Island. The main town on the island is Avalon, where the song got it's name! It was written for that town. Keep up the great work!!!

  • You are great...4 paws up...

  • Where can I find tabs for this ??

  • That's some great playing Dude!! keep it up!

  • Can't wait for your new songs Phil! But exams are also very important! Good luck in your exams! Look forward to your videos!

  • I hope you are doing good in your exams dude :) Not that you will need qualifications when you're famous :P

But then again, intelligence is always something you should never discard!

    Good luck :)

  • Do you have anything more to share?

  • good guitar

  • yyaaay!:D Ur amazin at plyin guitar and ur new guitar is wicked! keep up da good work cus! xxx

  • Time is on his side too...

  • omg how old are you?

  • oh man, this pisses me off, i need to get better to beat you now haha. your amazing! it makes me mad that your younger than i am and are sponsored!

  • Say hello to your newest subscriber. I rememeber a while back there was a tab out for a really good fingerstyle iteration of The Bare Necessities from the Jungle Book. If you know this then please give us a video of yourself playing it :P

    Regards,

    Andrew

  • im in love with this song!! i really need the tabs...it's allright if ou can't send them but please let me know..can't find the tabs anywhere.. :(

  • I notice that your shirt and pants are color-coordinated with your new guitar. Even the background walls, and lighting, go perfectly with everything else. Looks nice, and is in keeping with your high standards.

  • That wasn't planned, but i see what you mean!

  • PLEASE!!!!

  • Dude!!....seriously NEED the tabs 4 that song!!!

  • learn to play by sheet music, lose the tab crutch

  • Reading sheet music is fine but becomes virtually impossible when using a whole range of different open tunings.

    And Tab works anyway..

  • For guitar... Well, for anything other than simple lead, sheets become rediculously impracticle to use. It's not like playing a piano. On a guitar, you can play a note in up to 6 different places probably 50 different ways or more. O.o It's good to be able to read both and have a fantastic ear, though. :)

  • Absolutely amazing sir!!

I can vaguely remember Richard Smith, as a child prodigy, playing on stage with Chet Atkins at 11 years old. He ended up, for my money, the best....but you are well on his heels!! I am really looking forward to hearing of bigger and better things for you.

Your hard work will surely pay off and there is every reason why it should do so.

The very best of luck in what must be a very rosy future.

    Regards

    Paul.

  • ur amazing man, can i ask though in ur angelina video do u use ur right hand pinky?

  • no, i never use my right hand pinky apart from resting against the guitar in some tunes.

  • Hey Philip... That picture on the wall behind you - not sure, but it looks like you and Tommy Emmanuel on it?

  • "Yeah Tommy, and me!" :-)

    I like your playing!

  • Yep thats me and Tommy, i got to play backstage with him for a bit before his show, it was amazing!

  • Sweet! Can't wait to see what's next. Hope finals are going well.

  • wow, really like your videos! amazing!

  • Phil:

Nervousness before any public performance is completely normal. In fact, it is a good thing because it stimulates you to do your best. Don't worry; you'll do just fine.

I wish I could be there. Just being among a group of people who love you would be a wonderful experience.

  • Let's hear it for the sponsor! Nice guitar.

  • BRILLIANT !!

You looks like Doyle Dykes in you face..

That's really good you play it like him both on the guitar and in the face :P

    Its not evil mean

  • Phil, you are most welcome! Do you play out live?? If so where? IN UK? Let us know thanx Perry!

  • Phil,

Years of experience as an instructor of public speaking classes has taught me that body language -- including facial expressions -- adds immeasurably to any public performance.

Phil, your performances are superb. And your honesty, conveyed in your emotion, is enormously attractive. A mere glance at the comments that have been submitted should convince anyone that you have your audience in the palm of your hand -- or the tips of your fingers.

  • Thanks, this gives me some confidence for when i play live! really appreciate it!

  • Phil, thats not what I ment. You dont look like an idiot but only a musician can really appreaciate all that you are putting into your music and your facial expressions prove that....Don't change a Thing! How old are you now?

  • Thats for the nice comment! Piperperry

  • Just brilliant. Real mature playing. Your great now - you have a great future. Tommy would be proud of you.

  • P.S. Phil I must say your facial expressions during the song are priceless, I can see the concentration and the satisfaction.

  • i know, i look like an idiot!!! i didnt even realise i was doing it! Its the camera, it puts me off!!

  • Brilliant Phil!

  • You need to put that guitar down and go play in the street or something! I hate young people.

Seriously, that is so tasteful. You are a talented guy.

  • fantastic playing!! Did you pick that up by ear or use tab?

  • great job kid!!!

  • IM CRY' That Was So Beautifull.

Im verry Impressed, KEEP UP THE GREAT AMAZING WORK PHIL

  • All I can say is WOW. Great job. You must spend a ton of time. I play but you are great!!!!

    Thanks for the vid.

  • I see a photo of you and Tommy in the background, good on ya, Im sure hes proud of your playing, I am too.

  • wait until you will hear miki harari plays the guitar...he really plays 4\4 like a son of a bitch

  • OMG - A young version of Chet Atkins! Phillip, you are quite talented. I don't care if you're 15 or 51, that was some great picking.

  • I hope someday you can post california dreaming Michael Chapdelaine
