Ok, so i have a magnet with the diameter of the hole inside of 1.1 inches. Can you tell me how can i do the voice coil. I mean what copper wire, how many turns per layer, how many layers, ,the lenght of the wire, and how many ohms must have.
You know anything about speakers and their parameters!
Did you hear, that speaker's magnet should work in closed loop? Have you calculate the resonance frequency? Damping of this speaker is made only by friction between voice coil and magnet. And these rubber bands makes me laugh:)
@netmonicus STFU you tool, hes only mimicking how real speakers are made and real speakers have spiders too numbnutts. Resonance is determined by the box, box size is determined by the speaker and how stiff or loose it is. Flimsy speakers need smaller tighter boxes.
@Tab54o every speaker has it's own resonance frequency, and it's not the only parameter. Read more about Thielle-Small parameters fi you ever heard about them... Resonance of the box is the other thing!
hey ive built a subwoofer very simmilar to your design, i need a little help with the voice coil though. What guage wire did you use for the voice coil and how many layers of the coil did you wind. - does the direction matter?? thanks.
wow, thats awesome! it really works! amazing. I'm thinking of making an own speaker too, i just don't know how to make a really durable spider. Great Job Dude! :-))
i cant understand... how did you make a power supply for that sub? you know if it dont has a power supply it is not making a sound. if you understood my question then answer please! :) between great sub!!!
If you have money to spent, you can buy a 2.1 system, and sodder two more wires to wires going to the sub and hook theese two to the sub you made, ooor hook the cables from the comp. to a strong radio's reciever, in radio, there's a wheel, for changing stations, and there are 5 connections, hook to the middle and the left one, and then to the sub.
once again, great work. you do need a better camera tho.
i remembered that i had a meccano kit lying around and built a super ghetto style coil winding machine out of it. it turned out quite good actually, i made a 4-layer voice coil on aluminum former in 30 mins which is 4 times faster than doing it by hand. and 4 times less frustrating as well.
it's late now, but i'll work more on it tomorrow as i also have an usable spider now, so expect some stuff from me this week.
The bicycle tire was a great idea. I am thinking of making another. My first one kinda failed. What are you using for keeping the coil in place? still gorilla glue?
Thanks. Yeah still using gorilla glue. This sub can handle some power. I had it playing in the car on a Power Acoustik BAMF-400-1D with 1700 watts RMS at 2 Ohms I kept the volume at 3/4 for about a minute and it took it. I didn't have a nice video for it but I will have one soon.
