  • Canonnnnnn Balllllllllll lol love Dr.House

  • Feel like I should be standing on a rooftop screaming at the heavens while it pours rain whenever I hear this song.

  • @anikaroni try "second life replay" by the soundtrack of our lives.... and ofcourse "hurt" by johnny cash

  • what kind of genre does this song belong to? i want more songs like this! can anyone suggest?

i always get mesmerized by songs which have a somewhat apocalyptic, surreal, and i-don't-know-how-to-place-that feeling...aaaaaarghh..

  • Arcade Fire's best song. Nice cover.

  • Wow. I thought House was going to die.

  • I always think its great when a legendary musician covers a newer band's song. it sort of breaks through all that bullshit you hear on youtube about one generation's music being better than another's and reminds you that great music is timeless.

  • @faber8251 Same feeling when Johnny Cash covered NIN

  • my life is a cage....

  • I came here to hear Peter Gabriel.

  • The most strange and atmospheric song of the last 10 years!!!

  • @ikmal37 I knew this song before the john carter trailer and Dr.House, and even before Peter Gabriel covered it :o. how hipster is that!

  • Broke my heart when I watched the House scene at that moment...

  • my body is a cage, that keeps me here for better or for worse

  • If you ask me the last 2 minutes could've been cut out.

  • my dance song brought me here

  • I dunno bout the rest of you, but Arcade Fire brought me here.

  • Through the whole song that picture seemed to be closing up to my eyes, even though it wasn't. Weird.

  • @pejeno ohmg yeah, ikr? if you juz kinda look at it for a min, its like getting closer, yet it seems not to get close enough haha

  • I found that song a week before "The films of David Fincher" (search for it great video) and I searched the arcade fire version, then i listened to this one and I loved it. Then I saw it on House, then they put it on the John Carter trailer. Strange such a great song, such a hard way to find.

  • The Batman Complex brought me here.

  • Is it just me or does this video keep going private and then back to public?

  • who came here after rubbing jelly on their feet?

  • @AlphaShadowNightmare The comment about "Who is here after watching house" is there already, and that's technically the same thing..

  • simply wow

  • @Kelly Dawn

I disagree. Both versions of this song are great; after all, Gabriel wouldn't have been able to produce this without Arcade Fire first writing it. Also, they are done in totally different styles, and I enjoy them for different reasons. They both make my nipples hard as rock, though.

  • Thumbs Up If House MD brought you here

  • The Batman Complex.

  • My Body was a Cage.......Sex Drugs and fear.Einfach nur geil das Lied!

  • Fits House so well

  • who came here after watching house?

  • @sadmanager i did...:P...unbelievable song

  • Reminds me more of his Genesis or solsbury hill kind of stuff.

  • Arcade fire's version was better imo. He should have arranged it differently, making the whole song a slow build instead of a quick one in the middle then drop off again.

  • Peter Gabriel did to this song what Cash did to NIN's "Hurt" - made real music out of it.

  • @KellyDawn both versions of "Hurt" were great songs with real music in them, but they were just expressed differently. Cash's rendition was more of a "goodbye", and had an apologetic feel to it, while Trent's original version was about his addiction, and the pain he felt because of it, while expressing it in the good ol' way that made Nine Inch Nails so unique in that way. Different versions appeal the different people, is what im trying to say.

  • there is only ONE Peter Gabriel <3

  • "I'm standing on the stage. Of fear and self-doubt. It's a hollow play. But they'll clap anyway."

  • thumbs up for those who ALREADY knew this song from Dr.House long before the "john carter trailer"

  • @ikmal37 Who even cares who knew it first? We all have to hear about it somewhere, and what's important is the musician now has wider recognition for being awesome. And no, before you get snooty, I didn't hear about it from House.

  • @AlishmcMalish : LOL, chill dude..just wanted to get thumbs up..=)

  • @ikmal37 Who cares how people found out about it as long they learn to appreciate excellent music :-).

  • @BiracialGoddess just wanted to know, i was curious, thats all.. =)

  • @ikmal37 Do you even know Peter Gabriel?. Its like Dr House fans pretending to know a thing about Massive Attack just because they happen to like teardrop

  • @Hematemesis So true! It is nice that a show manages to attract attention to a certain composer or band, but I find it really lame to write the same bullshit obsessive messages about that show. The artist is more than just a provider for the soundtrack. Knowing about a show like "House MD" does not make you a music connoisseur or remotely special in general.

  • @laviskrg Exactly, if you want to talk about House MD or John Carter from Mars you should post on such videos. And music is bigger than the commercial use it gets on TV, in fact, sometimes they do spend tons of money just to get a good intro and get more people into it

  • The apple you stole from Mario Auditore led me here.

  • I've forgotten this song, and then I watched the John Carter of Mars trailer. And how could I have forgotten.

  • I did a cover of this song.

  • I'm transsexual man and I'm almost crying now.

This song is so touching... perfect.

And it's about me- literally I live in a cage (despite the fact that my body is healthy)

  • 6 people are caged without a key.

  • @MrFaltskog this comment is not worthy of the song, although I agree.

  • The new John Carter movie brought me here.

  • This plus, rainymood . com = Ah-maz-ing...

  • Makes me think of Superman. Dude has so much power yet he's the most human of all of us.

  • I don´t know what to say about this song...it´s just awsome. There are so much feelings inside of it. Awsome is the only word that can describe the amount of feelings someone can get with that song!

    Thanks for uploading!!!

  • The music at 2:53 reminds me to thetheme song from Requiem for a Dream.

    Pretty nice btw.

  • No I wasn't brought here by anything. This song is too epic to only be discovered now.

  • I'm listening to this in my room with candles lit as the snow is falling ....

  • John Carter (2012)Trailer Brought me here!!

  • this is just breath-taking

  • 2:50 i think my heart just exploded

  • I want to see John Carter simply because this song was on the trailer.

  • @greentara313 ME TWO. this song is prefact for John Carter

  • John Carter threw me here

  • john carter trailer got me here

  • Nice song is amazing... not because it is nice music... not because it have nice words... because this is true song

  • john carter brought me here :)

  • Amazing, really.

  • Don't know why, but this song made me cry. It's just so... Beautiful.

  • Life is our greatest gift, It is also our greatest curse.

  • House.

  • The trans person's anthem.

  • Thumbs up if Google brought you here..

  • One of the best way to find good music: look for it in tv-series, good movies, ads from bigger companies.

  • @jakeofjoliet instead looking for it by yourself? Yeah, seems good.

  • Human body is the Dreamer's worst enemy :( I hate reality...

  • Comment removed

  • hmmm. idk no one hate me cuz this is my opinion but i like the Arcade Fire version better.... idk i like the way he sings it :P

  • @wv4life29

I don't think anyone's going to hate you for preferring the original version of the song. They did write it, after all :p

  • "from the one i loooove~" i love Dr.House. "Everybody lies"

  • As good as this cover is, I prefer the original much more. It is beyond perfection.

  • my body is lady for this song

  • This is fucking epic, i had eargasm!

  • Comment removed

  • I like the old ones better. : |

  • This version is better than the one on house :3

  • I usually listen to rock music, but this is incredible.

And no matter how much I love rock, I just can't get enough of this song.

  • nothing compared to the emotion and instrumental sound arcade fire brings :).

  • If I die young, my greatest regret will be not having had a long life to reflect upon while listening to music like this.

  • Comment removed

  • ...And he makes the song his own.

  • John Carter

  • alcohol and depression brought me here

  • who came here after watching the john carter trailer?

  • @Phillo127 But I heard the song somewhere else before, like in another movie I think.

  • @Phillo127 I think the question is: who came here after watching House md? this song is so so good..having goosebumps all over

  • This song is unbelivably the best song i have heard in years

  • I swear with this song i feel like:

I jumped off a 20 story building and as I'm slowly floating in the air i fall into a sea of colorful memories and then as i'm drowning i feel the chilling water bursting my veins and my cells lighting up in a colorful pattern and then slowly coming up to the surface and out of no where in a wist o fate there is fires and anger and I slowly run towards the middle and bring my peacefulness to it and it cools down. This song is just incredible.

  • Arcade Fire might have written the lyrics...but Gabriel made a fucking masterpiece out of it.

  • John Carter brought me here.

  • I´m very sorry for this question but.. can someone tell me the meaning of this song? Don´t get me wrong, my english is good but I´m not absolutely sure about the meaning.

  • @LinaZel

The text is about a person who is caught in herself because of everything that's around her. Everyone is just an influenced machine, doing what he's told to do. But the influence is a lie and it's supposed to fill up the empty souls of the people. The writer is one of the few people who are not hollow, but he let's himself influence anyway and he could become free from that, his mind holds the key, but he doesn't have the courage or strength to free himself.

  • @Maggot25n17 Wow, that makes no sense.

  • @Antibearvirus If you think so...well, I think then the song doesn't have any sense for you either, does it?

  • @Maggot25n17 Well, mostly I listen to it for the musical accompancy, but if I may say so, the lyrics seem overly pretencious.

  • @LinaZel I think it's most applicable to disabled people, people who are literally trapped in their body because they have some ailment or disability. Although the whole 'my body is cage' thing could be a metaphor for a circumstance or emotion or something, which keeps the writer constrained, stops him being with the one he loves....

My best suggestion is that you google the meaning of the song, which is originally by Arcade Fire, seeing as they wrote it, you might find a better answer ;)

  • but my mom holds the key?...

  • @YeppeunPollin MIND

  • @YeppeunPollin my mind holds the key...

  • My body is a cage

but my mind holds the key

    my mind is a cage

how should I set my body free?

  • @AlivetilltheEnd Free your mind. Find inspiration..within it you will find hope.

  • @AlivetilltheEnd find something you love, and get your freedom through that. I'm not entirely sure I get what you're saying, but if your mind is just as caged as your body because of mental disability, or depression or something, then find something or someone you love ... music, art, the beauty of the world, cooking, dancing, a parent, a close friend ... and use that as your first step to freedom.

If you have something to cling to, you have hope. If you have hope, you have all you need...

  • @FireflyFanatic3 .... I wont have all I need. I want it all. I want to live... I want to breath... I want to be alive and the hell I wont be free now. For what should I fight ? For what should I live? Now i want to blast this cage every day again and again and again. And this luck in this moment is everything I need. Your mind is always the cage, because your mind tells what is possible and what not. And who wants to waste one's time with a thing like depressions? xD

  • House is the best serie, and this the best song xd

  • 2:51 EPIC

  • House brought me here and Peter Gabriel made me stay

  • @rafaelbranco5 feeling the same....your words are telling everything which is needed to understand

  • @paeffa thanks

  • I have 3 syndromes as well as PTSD. I have the mind of an engineer, the hands of a mechanic, the soul of a motorcyclist, and the heart of an explorer. Everyday the physical pain ranges between uncomfortable and agony. I sometimes am bedridden for months at a time. I am right now. No song has ever moved me as much as this one right here. It is perfect.

  • @TriumphT140

Such a beatiful comment. Nicely written, as good as the song.

  • @TriumphT140 I've been in and out of the hospital since was 3 years old with diseases that the likelihood of getting is smaller than than being struck by lighting such as ITP and Gittleman's Syndrome. I'm currently 4 months sick with an unknown disease with Mono like symptoms and I'm getting chest surgery in Febuary for my ingrown ribcage which has given me shrunken lungs, asthma, heart flutters, and pushed my heart into my armpit. I just want you to know that you're not alone & I'm praying 4 u.

  • i will pray for you

  • Peter Gabriel brings out meaning in this song that simply was not present before.

  • XL, a music magazine from La Repubblica, brought me here.

  • i like the cover instrumentally, but the way he arranged the lyrics completely ruined and lost the meaning of the song which was so powerful.
