  • Hello Yes, it is a pretty cool bass line.

    Thanks for the compliment!

  • Wonderful performance! Nice "intro". I love this bass line

  • DL the audio from this video at speedyconversion doht cohm.

  • that bass is soooooo sexy, action needs to be raised, you can hear the strings buzz, and playing with a pick is not playing bass..... fingers my friend fingers, I dig Geddy overall, and mccartney is a close second

  • @TheRosettaStoned Paul and Geddy play with picks...sometimes :)

  • @corg22 um.... Geddy has NEVER used a pic on an electric bass. His sound come from finger striking string. Paul is part of the old British scene. His newer stuff, he uses fingers, older stuff picks.....the best comparison of pick to finger sound, is Cliff Burton vs Jason Newstead both ex Metallica.

  • nice job, flawless and accurate

  • Thanks for the very compliment!

    Greg

    Greg

  • Nice Rickenbacker! I want one, but the 4001 is around $2000 or $3000 now. Anyway, great cover! Can u send me the tabs? Maybe i can put up a cover video with my Hofner

  • Hello,

I don't use tab I play by ear. Thanks for compliment!

    Greg

  • Great bass. I enjoyed your playing-you have the subtle bits in there too.Impressive. This one is really hard to play and sing -well I think so anyway.

  • Thank you for the nice compliment! Yes, this song is hard to sing and play. I use to sing this song years a go in my younger days..

    Greg

  • Thanks!,

    Greg

  • Your Ric looks great for being almost 37 years old. I hope mine look as good when the time comes around. Has your mapleglo gotten more golden in the years since you first got it?

  • Yes,

It has aged well with a rich warm mapleglo.

    Greg

  • very well my friend!!

    macca rulez!!

    how much cost this rickenbacker??

  • Hello,

I bought this for $100.00 back in the early eighties from a person getiing out of the music business

    Greg

  • ur well good, smooooth player!

  • Thank you!

    Greg

  • @cubyme1 are you sure it's a1973? I thought the Rickenbacker bass had the toaster pickup and the checker binding for that year..you can look on their website for exact year of your bass.

  • Hello jeansbass,

I checked on line and it said that my Rickenbacker was made in December 1973.

    Greg

  • i wish i had that kind of controll when i play, your tabs must be different. but when i play with my hofner im all over the place, and its almost impossible. great job tho!

  • Thank You!

    Greg

  • Thanks for the very nice compliment!

    Greg

  • very well, very well, only 1 question why do you use a pick?

  • Hello bb3500,

One reason is that Paul McCartney uses a pick when he plays this song. I normally play with my fingers.

    Thanks for the compliment,

    Greg

  • Number one; I love this bass. That Rick is sweet.

Two, this is one of my favorite bass lines ever. Nice job.

I think even Lennon once said this was a fovorite bass part of his (even though he apparently hated the rest of the song!).

  • Thanks for the very nice compliment!

    Greg

  • what did he use to get that real thumping sound on his rickenbacker?

  • i love that your using pauls guitar!

  • I remember being asked if I ever attempted this song, and thinking "that song sounds easy".... Yes.. Paul made it sound effortless!! I cannot get that rythym either. Good Job!

  • Thanks for the compliment!

    Greg

  • super job! im still trying to play the song but i cant get the rhythm

  • Hello Ao2k12,

Just keep practising and I am sure you will play it fine.

    Thanks for the nice compliment,

    Greg

  • superb! id love to see band on the run!!!!

  • Thanks for the very nice compliment!

    Greg

  • Hello Floridaboy 7777,

I just put up a video of Band on the Run. I hope you like it.

    greg

  • VERY NICE! I've never seen anyone even attempt the beginning like that! Excellent job! Hope to see more from you!

  • Hello,

Thanks for the very nice compliment!

    Greg

  • Excellent playing. You nailed the tone too.

  • Thanks for the very nice compliment!

    Greg

  • I like what you were doing at the intro (the old chain thing going), you were pick sliding on the A and pop plucking the D?

  • Hello,

    Yes,

I picked slided or (scratched) on the A string and plucked the D string with my finger light touching on the F note to get a harmonic tone.

    Greg

  • great sound !! what kind of strings are you using in this video ? flatwounds or roundwounds ? what combination of volume / tone are you using in pick ups ?

  • Hello,

The strings are old RotoSound roundwounds from 80's. I am using both pick-ups which I adjusted to match the bass tone.

    Thanks for the compliment!

    Greg

  • Hello,

It is a 1973 (4001) Mapleglow. I bought for a $100 back in the early 80's from a person getting out of the music business.

    Greg

  • 100???!!!! You just broke my heart. I remember when I was a kid and they were 425.00 brand new. Alot of money for a 14 year old in 77. Dont ever part with it.

    : D

  • Wow! That was McCartney right there! I love that bass by the way, very sharp.

  • Thanks for the very nice compliment!

    Greg

  • Great, flawless playing, Sir! Thank you for posting it.

  • Thanks the very nice compliment.

    Greg

  • That was absolutely perfect. 1976 was a great year for music wouldn't you say? Nice Ric! Sir Paul is probably the best musician who ever lived.

  • Thanks for the compliment. I do agree that year was great for music and Sir Paul is a super musician. I checked out your bass videos and you play great.

    Greg
