Saying that freestyling is useless is like saying improvising on musical instruments is useless. Freestyling is practice and makes you a better emcee across the board.

John Coltrane freestyled amazingly and everyone remembers it.

free form jazz is very different from freestyle rapping. freestyle is all well and good but writing a good, memorable LYRICAL SONG is very different as if its GOOD it will be conceptual over the 48 bars- something that you can attempt in freestyle but it will never have the same potency.

Its testimony to the lack of value ppl place in the output of rap as a genre of music where saying anything that comes off the top of your head is considered a talent.
