@runebladez999 Did you watch the whole video? He was demonstrating how cumbersome it can be to push a shopping cart from a wheelchair and then showed how much easier it would be to have a cart that followed you.
continuation of first post: reducing size even to the point that it could be mass produced and easily installed everywhere, a store could select what size wheels are on their carts and have a box of these systems sent to them, ready for install just take off the current wheel and bolt the new wheels, camera, battery, and small router like device for connection to the server and BAM! carts that follow disabled citizens around! easy as that... and the world has been changed for the better!
Very nice!! this is amazing... i did have one question though, how do you prevent it from switching targets? everyone knows theres going to be one of those pesky kids that will run in between the diabled person and the cart... just a question i had... and also i can see how this could be streamlined with a small server that supports multi-users (carts) somewhere in the store/mall... it would remove the pc from the actual cart and it would require much less power/battery capasity... and size
@rickycolonjj the thing is that they thought about it the designers.to change target it could take considerably a lot of time although of course it depends on various of factors and personally i would think that would be a problem and if it where to happened i guess it could be configured to stop all moving processes when suddenly the target changes and resume by using voice recognition or something just an idea i really liked the one you proposed of the laptop replacement
with just some mechanical magic this can b achieved dont need to use that much technology and programming!!! but i am from IT background as well and i know the hardword and its great
I can't believe that nobody tried helping the guy out before he came out with the Wi-Go gear!?!? I'm hoping there were people that offered to help him push his shopping cart that the video didn't show???
This is amazing and a brilliant hack. I take it it avoids anything thats can get in way too as not all supermarkets are not that clear in the isles and empty.
I will say this much, Microsoft is finally starting to embrace the open source movement (slowly but surely) they are giving the community access to free developing tools and giving us tutorials on how to use them. If linux taught us anything it is that greed doesn't produce products quickly and effectively, it is a drive in all of us to make this world a better place and if you give us the tools and the knowledge we will build it
Having a father who was disabled and now passed. Seeing this, truly made me tear up. Knowing a disabled person who had to have assistance or move into one of the automatic chair carts or carry a hand cart will soon have the option of a regular cart following them around. not a day goes by without me thinking of ideas to help disabled people. i haven't thought of this because of the odd stores who deliver, and this is just awesome! to have the option of going shopping without assistance, AWESOME!
Or he could have a string to direct it haha
