@zeb120 What does this have to do about the Muslims??? Are you talking about the terrorist? Cause ordinary Muslim people are completely normal and the terrorist don't care what you think as they'd prefer you dead.
@shadowhexogram Nostalgia critic made a review of "The langoliers" in which Bronson Pinchot starred who, yep! You guessed it, who was also known for his role in this. Basically he played this music at certain times throughout the video for comedic effect, I guess you could say.;
I always turned changed the channel when this came on but I did watch Family Matters and Full house on the TGIF line up lol. I did however like the intro to this show
I LOVE this show when I was a kid. I really miss those beautiful times when family can sit and watch tv together, eat together, going out and have a good time together. Now I see kids going out without parents and do things that could get them in trouble..... or killed. And what's worse.... their parents let them go and don't give a damn until it's too late.
TGIF was the best!!! Wholesome quality tv I could actually sit down & watch WITH my parents! Nothing beat sitting around with the family watching TGIF, Dominos Pizza & coca-cola on a friday night! Where are the family shows like this these days!?! I can't wait for our son/daughter to get here in 7 months so we can make memories like this with them!! Yep you're damn right I'm a dork & a damn happy one too!!
@decolady2 You're speaking to my heart with that comment! I'm 30 yrs old now. Getting our snacks ready for T.G.I.F. was a ritual between and my 33 yr old sister those days lol. *feeling emotional*
... And then the adventures. Oh, the adventures! Struggling through the WIND in the WINDY CITY. Who would've thought? Going to a Cubs game. Look at the foreigner, he's so excited! Getting stuck in a revolving door - HOW WACKY! And finally a night on the town ... but the foreigner is wearing SHORTS with his suit! HOW ZANY IS THAT?!?!?
I love it all. After 70 seconds, you know you're in for some MOTHERFUCKING COMEDY! They don't make 'em like this any more.
The entire premise of the show is laid out in 70 seconds: Wide-eyed foreigner comes to USA. Meanwhile, a determined man packs all his stuff and moves out on his own. The foreigner talks to a horse - He's SO foreign! Determined Man grabs a newspaper. He's SO determined ...
These great 80's sit-coms aired during a long recession/recovery, just like now, when A LOT of Americans had to move & start over. It was not a happy time for my parents. Optimism was literally a national priority. The 1980 Refugee Act opened the floodgates wide open to immigration. 747's were jam-packed with refugees escaping Communism and religious prosecution, a tidal wave of new Americans. This show gave that trend a positive twist by laughing at stereotypes. Today everything is 'PC'.
You can tell our culture is dying. When I watch theme songs like this I get goosebumps. I get it could be going back in a time when I grew up and hearing a familar song. But the real reason is because there are inspiring themes, family values, an age when tv shows were made about living to the better angels of our nature, like Lincoln said. All of these things are dead now. There are no more portrayals of proper values, things to strive for, families we would like to emulate.
@552mustang Or they perpetuated unattainable ideals that paint an unrealistic picture. I think there are a number of shows out currently that don't do what shows then did but may be doing something equally as fruitful, which is allowing viewers to feel OK with "not so black & white", that there isn't always a clear resolution. Problems don't show up in neat little packages to unwrap and then solve. Things have always been complicated and shows now do a better job of representing that.
@bchavez12 funny thing is that just because shows now present things in a more realistic view doesn't make those shows better than shows from before. Remember something; people don't want to see their lives on screen. That would make for a grim and dull show. They want escapism and imagination. That's why Perfect Strangers is awesome. It's not real but it makes you wish that it was. Unrealistic characters like Balki fills your heart with warmth and preps you on how to be a better person
@bchavez12 Think of it like this. Back then kids could watch an NBC show with their parents. Cosby, Fresh Prince, A Different World, Blossom. Can you name ONE NBC sitcom that can be watched by kids today? Shows have changed and I got to say it's not for the better. There's a glimmer of hope but I'll wait and see what happens
@552mustang Yeah really. I agree with everything you say. There's no more theme songs on TV shows anymore because the creators are too lazy to come up with the lyrics and they have to make more room for moronic commercials. And TV has been taken over by lame reality shows, countless cop shows, and there's no such thing as a heartwarming family show anymore and if there is a show with a family, it focuses more on the horny adults rather than the proper values of a family.
@ignite339 For me it goes beyond nostalgia. We've always had crappy TV shows and crappy music, the difference is that it seems to be the norm nowadays.
@552mustang Aww now now. Lets not get all maudlin here. There's a reason why they don't make sitcoms like this anymore. It got boring and it became really cheasy to see such wholesomeness all the time. We got burnt out and when shows started playing up to crude and stupid rather than idealic wholesomeness well. You know how that went. Now take some anti depressants and get back in the toll booth.
@552mustang you realize that there are people out there that thought the debut of this show meant that culture was dying thirty years ago. i wish people would quit idealizing the past.
@steveparok00 Well, the dude I was responding too said that "it seems as though the better shows take place in Chicago." Kenan and Kel took place in chicago as well just like the other shows. I don't see why I can't include it as a chicago show
@steveparok00 to each their own I guess. I just happen to think that Nick's earlier shows were liked by many people than the shows they have now. Kenan and Kel is no exception to me especially the first two seasons but if that's the way you feel then I can't stop you

You know what I just noticed a couple minutes ago? When Balki and Larry go through the rotating doors, everyone thinks that Larry followed Balki in circles. But here's what really happens. When Balki goes through the rotating doors at 0:47, follow Larry. Two seconds later, he leaves when Balki is halfway around. Then at 0:52, coming back into the rotating door is Larry. So Larry was really looking for Balki.

Just because it has a different manager doesn't mean it should change it's well known name. It's a national monument. Isn't it illegal to change the name of a national monument? Wouldn't it be like calling the White House to the Bush House.

Me either. I'd rather substitute the other Perfect Strangers. Deep Purple ftw.
