@STREETRACEN4U Once the Alert Light on the street lamp starts blinking, the driver has to look around to see where the emergency vehicle is coming from. If you can see the truck, you a forced to stop on the green by law. Its even in the Drivers Ed Books. Im 21, when I was 15, I had to learn about that.
@joe24chevy hmm thats intresting i never noticed that little light before, your laws must be different then the ones here, u can continue through the light just as long as they are not almost turning around the corner, i never seen a flashing light like that before though. intresting.
@45barber1 Minnesota has put these on the street lights years ago. Its an alert system to tell drivers that an Emergency Vehicle is coming, so be perpared to pull over or stop.
@Scruit I didnt know that. Lol, but that sounds about right. Knew MN had it for awhile but didnt know when it started. Although atleast I know it was atleast since 84.
as he stopped for the ambulance the light was still green but then the light turned red and the ambulance passed but the guy on the white car thought the light was still green till he was mid-way of the road then he saw red light and he said oh well fk it., might just go!
@Duckleft Several years ago, I was forced into a snow bank by another driver who tried to hit me. So I wanted something, like a camera, to catch someone who has intention to purposely hitting me. Example: Sitting at a stop light, someone put their car in Reverse and hitting you with their back bumper to your front. By law, bacause you front hit their back, its your fault. If on camera, it will show I did nothing wrong. Thats all.
@joe24chevy where did you get yours and how much did you pay? I always wanted to get me one of these set-ups. Im on the road a lot and this could come in handy.
"traffic light photo enforced"... idiot haha. by the way you're an awesome driver. you stopped way before everyone else, because you were paying attention. big problem we have is people 'not hearing' us when we're right behind them... it's really annoying. that's why i can't wait to get my rumbler siren :D
You guy's see the white flashing light on top of the traffic light. I never seen them in action. They are activated by a siren or a certain flashing light on a emergency vehicle. I think they turn all the lights red or warns people a emergency vehicle is coming.
You never know, it the white car could have an unmarked or undercover emergency vehicle. Like plainclothes/undercover law enforcement/fire/intelligence official. Just a guess. Lol. If it was, he should of put on an emergency light.
Driver probably kind of stopped half in half out of the intersection (off camera as he/she noticed the ambulance approaching, panicked, and just kept going to clear way for other traffic. I see this happen very frequently.
Most Minnesotians DO NOT know how to drive... Think un-educated, spoiled child, disrespectful mentality...
In the four years I have lived in Minneapolis, I have only seen a very small handful of motorists, bicycles or pedestian showing any repect for the laws that govern safe and respectful actions.
dude who the fuck cares...Nothing happened don't worry about it..If this is the stuff that happens in your town then your a pretty damn lucky guy. Kuz down here in Cashville muthafuckas be doin drive bys and bumpin ur bumper so you can go faster and tailgate u on the highway when ur goin 75mph
@LoveReflectiveTape also nice you stopped even when you had a green light :) i know i would have a sh** load of ppl yelling and honking at me in my town if i stoped at a green light for a Ambulance that wasnt close yet
@LoveReflectiveTape When the light on top of the traffic signal turns on, the drivers need to look around and see where the emergency vehicle is coming from. Even if I Red/Yellow/Green light, the intersection needs to be clear, So even if people where honking, I wouldn't care. :-)
@joe24chevy We dont have them lights on top of the traffic lights :\ Lol but any way same thing. I wouldnt care if someone was honking at me. I would laugh and also wait few sec's after the emergency vehicles went though just to piss them off bit more >:) also do things piss them off bit more after the light.
i once saw an ambulance stopped because some idiot decided not to yield and they lightly "bumped". the ambulance decided to stop and wait for the cops while the patient suffered inside the ambulance. wish i had my camera then.
what if that person in the car was the son of the woman that just had a heart attack and is in the ambulance and simply wants to follow along as close as possible? just saying....
"simply wants to follow along as close as possible". Really? Why in the hell do people think that it is acceptable to tail an emergency vehicle running lights and sirens?
im a firefighter n that thing flashing on top called the opticom is suppose to stop all light except the emergency sevices car to green n the light should of stayed on the whole time not just flash
@bithloman Not a good thing to do. I know emotions are running high but there is no sense injuring/killing yourself at the same time. When family says they are going to follow us, I politely tell them they must follow all traffic laws. It is very dangerous to try and keep up with an ambulance (or any emergency vehicle) running code 3. People do not expect anyone else coming behind that emergency vehicle and the risk of a crash is very high.
What are you talking about? The van cleared the intersection 4 seconds before the ambulance used the horn, and 11 sec before the ambulance was in the same spot the van was earlier. Stop trying to make everything sound dramatic. The ambulance driver was blowing a warning before proceeding, just like drivers are trained to.
No the van shouldn't have gone, but it happens all the time.
@m173627 Who said Anything about a Van? I said a car past throught the intersection and thats why "i" thought thats the reason the ambulance honked. Yeah, I agree that the ambulance honked to warm people that they were coming down the road, but as i was looking around to see where the ambulance was coming from, I seen the "car" pass through and then the honk, Never once said anything about a van.
Dude that is so cool yea i have had alot of close calls too, all over, espeaclly in IGH, and south st. paul, yea that is cool that you have all those videos.
@MrJpbuckslayer You should check out most of my videos. I have close calls on Robert, Highway 52, 35E, 494. I Love Minnesota. Everyone wants to move but i will stay and keep mine and everyone elses cold and winter. lol
@joe24chevy id appreciate a reply on this one! Never knew such a warning system even existed to warn of incoming emergency vehicles. Do you know how it works? We dont have anything like that ehre in the UK. Thanks :)
@andre199017 Emergency vehicles have a system (A box) in their cars and when they are roughly so many yards away from the light, the system sends out a signal to the traffic light to make the direction of the ambulance/ cop car/ fire truck "Green" so the emergency cars won't be stuck in traffic.
Eh, i've seen plenty of drivers do that. That stop for an emergency vehicle when they have green, even though the light turns red waiting for emergency vehicle to pass, they will proceed.
the white car probably stopped partly into the intersection when he saw the ambulance approaching, so he exited the intersection once the ambulance had gone through.
No it was not planned. But the reason I got anything on video was because in the winter of 2009, I got ran off the road and crashed into a ditch and got tired of close calls with other drivers. So I put put my camera into "video" mode and set it on my dash board and let it record and happen to catch the car running the light. Then I bought a camcorder and got better videos. It was just luck.
no there are a few other states that have them but since alot of police stuff is designed in Minnesota we get all the new and cool toys for cheap. Having an entire state adding them to all street lights and departments having to add receivers added to all squads gets expensive now in Minnesota it is just a standard
also, if you are at the front of the line at a red light, and an emergency vehicle is behind you responding to a call, by law you must also run the red light to get out the way.
You mean a traffic infraction/misdemeanor (depending on the state), not a felony. You'd be put in jail if it were a felony right off the bat. No ticket, just handcuffs.
But yeah, you're meant to move forward and pull to the side to let them past. If you end up blocking the lane next to you, so be it. But you aren't given authority by any state, to run the red light yourself. If you are at risk of blocking cross-traffic after the emergency vehicle has passed, reverse back to where you were.
Well first I hope you gave this to the Police, Second, in PA and New Jersey you are able to follow them it's not ileagal, now that guy need's a ticket.
this is probably a case of 'well I stopped on the green, therefore I'm entitled to go on the red' mentality. Luckily another ambulance wasn't needed after this move.
Doubtful it's also a family member following the ambulance as it appears to come from a different direction (not that it would excuse that behaviour).
