@worldwideMCM Not mistakes......Ostriches. Bury your head in the sand and pretend that the world is a perfect place and mental trains can't be derailed by the enforced madness caused by the ELITE 1%.
One Day we ALL will fully appreciate the wisdom of the brothers who tried to warn us such as Brother Mayfield, Gil Scott-Heron, and the ones who unlike today's rappers were singing warning, not praise of forced insanity.
Even in addiction he strove to teach us Black children, women, and men....So full of soul, so full of love....he opened our minds and hearts to so many beautiful sounds, beautiful fantasies, and eventual realizations.....He was my teacher, my preacher, and ultimately my Master Hero...much love Mr. Mayfield...RIP
The sole fact that he was dying, paralyzed, but still managed to construct everything when recording this, makes this real as absolute hell. R.I.P. to one of the greatest musicians to ever walk the face of the Earth, even if he wasn't walking when this wasn't done.

You are a fucking idiot if you think or thought he was speaking of himself when referring to drug usage in the song. It's a socially conscious song you dumbass's
Curtis Mayfield seems like he would be the coolest guy to just chill with and talk to. Might sound weird, but that's the vibe I get from this song for some reason :D
I was a teen on a path of destruction when curtis dropped the new world order album. this entire album sent chills through my body made me break down in tears and evaluate my life. this album woke me up and affected major change in my life at a very young age. calling this album deep would be an under statement. thanks for uploading it. this is 1 album i would definitely walk into any record store and gladly purchase.
@MrJlrochelle na if anything to you I'm sayin been hearin a lot bout these legends dying - what a shame - so on and so on. They're lives and every true artists lives are a testament. Nothing but peace and congragulations to u bro.
Mayfield is one of my all-time favourite musical figures. Incredible singer, guitarist, writer, social commentator and person. How the last years of his life went was tragic. For you kids not aware of his brilliance, think of all your modern R&B/hip-hop heroes- Kayne, Jay Z, John Legend- he was all those and more rolled into one incredible package. One of the top 5 all-time soul individuals and it was great we heard him 1 last time before he passed on.
this song makes me think of just how hard life can get to be, i have a wife, a child and one on the way and make under 20,000 a year and get so depressed sometimes but the fact of the matter is that there are millions of others who dont have anything
@mikelob6707 tell me about it man..two kids here same prob. at least u have a wife to support u.i thought i was gonna make a wife out of my second daughters mom..but nope..dont need her tho..i got my kids.. thats all i need ..and its easy for people to tell you how to fix ur prob. when they never been there..not complainin ..i chose my path i will fix it..keep ur head up man
@mikelob6707 Well I will pray that your situation gets better. It is hard out here but I know you can better yourself please look into schools for yourself. I know it might seem hard at first but it will pay off for you and your family. Keep God lifted in faith and step out on that faith. Good luck to you and God bless you.
@mikelob6707 Keep your head up! Pray ! Pray! U have a lot to be proud of. As long as you are the man you are suppose to be for your family, it don't matter how much you make right now. God has a way of restoring and blessing. He is a God of provision. Ask and you shall receive. Alot of men run and don't man up. Keep doing what's right. You'r rich w/ integrety and love. Sit down and set goals and aplan of how you can acheive them. You will be ok
Curtis was not only a consummate performer but perhaps the greatest song writer ever. It started back in the early 60's with his work with the Impressions. His music was both intensely personal and socially topical. His body of work is amazing and he was never fully appreciated.
This is one of the tightest CD's I've ever heard. Can somebody please post it in its entirety? Hes got artists from Mavis Staples to Roger Troutman on this CD. This is one of them rare CD's that when its finished, you let it play again. I don't know who posted this, but (exellent job). You can't stop now please, please post the whole thing.
This song reminds me of the timz in the 90's when I was tryin' to keep my Son away from the life of crime that led to his incarceration for the past 10 years or so. As you listen, let my words save at least one from a life of wrong-doing. When one of the family is in prison, all are there.
@Mr1nce Yeah. I knew Curtis personally and was in the studio back in 96' when he recorded this album. The crack reference refers to the feeling of helplessness we all feel sometimes in this crazy thing called life, especially when we experience or face difficulties. Curtis wrote a lot on figurtive subjects and topics. People related to him by the millions because he spoke out on urban injustice, human suffering, drugs and politics during his career. He was a MASTER songwriter.
in this song he makes 2 refrences to drugs, one "rollin my blunt in a cigar wrap" and the other "smokin my crack just to keep me high" is he talkin bout himself or just in general? did he smoke crack?
@MFUHURU I remember when curtis let me hear this song in February 1996. He asked me what I thought & I told him it was peaceful & spiritual. Years later I was smokin herb 2 this song & I felt like I could feel his spirit sitting next 2 me. If u really listen 2 these lyrics they are two fold. He wrote them in that present state of paralysis he was in but futuristically speaking he WAS here & now GONE physically. Curt was DEEP! Think about it!
Love Curtis Mayfield, I'm on my 3rd New World Order CD. Everytime one wears out I buy a new one. Great CD, he was a true talent. Mr. Mayfield you are missed.
