Mayfield is one of my all-time favourite musical figures. Incredible singer, guitarist, writer, social commentator and person. How the last years of his life went was tragic. For you kids not aware of his brilliance, think of all your modern R&B/hip-hop heroes- Kayne, Jay Z, John Legend- he was all those and more rolled into one incredible package. One of the top 5 all-time soul individuals and it was great we heard him 1 last time before he passed on.

@Mr1nce Yeah. I knew Curtis personally and was in the studio back in 96' when he recorded this album. The crack reference refers to the feeling of helplessness we all feel sometimes in this crazy thing called life, especially when we experience or face difficulties. Curtis wrote a lot on figurtive subjects and topics. People related to him by the millions because he spoke out on urban injustice, human suffering, drugs and politics during his career. He was a MASTER songwriter.
