You really need to use wire for specific parts, nothing else would work, for example the rubber motor hooks, crankshaf and wing hinges.
Wire can be found at music store, as piano wires or electric guitar strings, as for a wire bender I didn´t use anything more sophisticated than a pair of long nosed pliers to bend all the wires.
I drew very sketchy plans for this model, if you have experience with indoor planes and ornithopters it should be enough for you. Send me a message with your e-mail adress and I´ll give you the plans and some reference pictures.
OnlySanePerson, the covering on the wings is 5 or 10 micron aluminized mylar, I don´t recall the exact thickness.
I irradiate it with Kriptonite just before the flight...
Actually there´s no mistery, it´s just standard(although a bit rarer now) FAI Tan II rubber, a double loop about 3 or 4 centimeters longer than the hook to hook distance and with about 500 or 600 turns.
Really insect like :)

What material was used for the wings?
OnlySanePerson 4 years ago
I used aluminized Mylar for the wings and tail, very tough and lightweight.
