What a heart touching performance by Mr. Jack Klugman. He hits upon a valid point. I mean today you can't put your faith in church or state because they are both run by humans. Only one you can put your faith in is your doctor, yourself and the god you believe. I mean what will we do when it is just god and us when all churches and states are no longer around.
It's fine if your religion deems moralizing your personal behavior, but why in hell must you think that the rest of the world needs to be controlled by it or lose their civil rights and freedoms of choice because you have a narrow view of life within one of thousands of philosophical ways of living life.
If you have a religious belief and distaste for someone's behavior - that's fine. But stop thinking everyone wants to live like you.
How can the party of personal responsibility and limited government be the same party that advocates intefering in my decision to die? Its such hypocrisy. "Save me from the people who would save me from myself!"

The only person that should decide whether you go or not is the same creator who brought you into this world. God. This is euthenasia people wake up!!!
Wake up? Your argument makes no sense. So are you saying that God decides for man to hook a person up to artificial life support systems? I think at that point, it's clear what God decided and by keeping a person alive on life support, wouldn't you actually be going against God's decision?
this is my right to choose in private with my Doctor present to ensure it's exactly what I want and done properly with dignity. I wouldn't be surprised to find that Pope Jon Paul did this and they kept that a secret like they do everything else.
An outstanding commentary from a guy who to whom this issue is more than germane. He clearly doesn't want to be kept alive by religious lunatics and politicians as Terry Schaivo was. When we go, only we and our doctors should have input into the decision.
such a good man!! and a strong one too.
