There's many different styles and branches withing Goth. They don't all dress the same.

They are all just posers doing it to dress up i bet none of them go out on the streets looking like that so they shoulldnt consider there selves true.

A lot of Goths take inspiration from the Victorian era. I should know this, I used to follow this trend a few years ago and I've been to a Whitby Gothic Weekend. There are many branches of Goth like I said in my previous post, and this IS one. I'm sure many people will agree with me.

Also, who cares if some of the people that attend the Whitby weekends don't always dress as Goths? It's all for fun, and it's a weekend dedicated and showing appreciation to the Gothic subculture. You don't need to be a Goth to be able to join in and appreciate this style now, do you?

I think someone labelling themselves Goth then bashing other people for appreciating the culture is a lot more 'poser' if you ask me. But that's just my opinion. Would you rather this weekend didn't exist and Goth will stay unrecognised and people will stay ignorant towards it? I think people joining in is a good thing, even if they aren't 'Goth' in their every day lives.

@dare751 WGT is way deaper than this. You have origional true goth music like the stuff out of the 80's, you have ebm, industrial and even deathrock. Whitby is more of a fashion statement. Just look at these people victorian and renisance goth? seriously now. . . . Goth came from the 80's coming from new wave and punk what your looking at has nothing to do with the origional true goth. This is so rediculous might as well start a mall goth festival or a huge dress up party.
