I'm from the suburbs and I had to go to summer school with inner city kids and I was the only white kid and the teacher was white and young and she had to give motivational speeches to kids that were doing bad....then I saw this.

I read it, its veryy good, but there are alot of bad parts in it, and I had to skip over some parts because there are alot of very risky parts in the book, however, it teaches you what kids truly went through, so i highly suggest you reading it.

after you read the book, you will realize how good of a job they did with the movie ! because its like the movie came right out of the book, anyways the book was very good. Just like the movie!!

This film is an inspiration for all mixed races all over the world. Hilary gives a brilliant performance as Erin Gruwell. It also shows what you can achieve when you give it your best effort. Erin was so dedicated.
