@kristinloveschevys cool thanks. its hard to find girls that are into this stuff. even with todays hi tec digital stuff. radio is still needed. when listening to local am radio. i like hearing the sound from lightning on the radio. my cb radio in my truck picks up the static charge of lightning before it strikes. i want to get a video of it one day. ill check out your videos. thanks again.
This is WLO!! It Identifies itself as such (first xmission w Morse Code) the second one, the weird "wave" sound COULD be ionosonde. I have also recorded it myself. the glug glug sound, that is data xfer . Keep listening! Glad you enjoy your radio
@kristinloveschevys thanks man. i enjoy it while i can. i live in an area that has too much noise for the radio. such as a plasma tv and a power substation thats just a 2 minute walk away, but when i find that open window with no noise i take it.
@bradmann85 no it's cool, you will hear a lot of unexplained things on the radio, some that can't be ID'ed, and some folks are know it alls who claim that it's radar, or swear they know it etc and try to fool you with big words. Keep listening! It never gets old. And don't fret about stations shutting down, leaves more space on the waves for other stuff! I do my listening around 3am and onwards. Cheers :)
@kristinloveschevys also if you listen carefully, try to write down the CW dots n dashes. I don't know code by heart (yet) but I know WLOs!! They are famous! Check out taht station on the web. Pretty interesting and weird stuff sometimes. Why do they exist? hmm?
8540kHz is a digital mode for military communications, being used by NATO (google for STANAG 4285)

I'm a beginner in this really but I reckon:
First one: Search for TAH Istanbul Radio on Youtube. This is certainly what you're hearing.
8540khz is quite a common data transmission (I think these are low-level millitary use)
9110khz is a Weather Fax.
