as a scrum half myself, if found this technique worthless, the 1 and only time when a ball is laying like that, is when he comes out of a ruck, and then all I need to do is stand above it and spin it away, with BOTH hands not just some lazy (lets hope the ball doesn't come out of my hands) one hand pick up, if you do that while running, you'll just dodge the ball. Sorry but this is the way to fail

This one is not that bad except both hands should be used simultaneously to pick the ball up, step over the ball with your leading foot first to give yourself a solid foundation before driving forward and through any defenders this drill should be done against a live defender at close proximity beginners should start off at a very slow pace slowly building thier momentum until they are confident to try the drill at full pace with full contact. Always keep your head up to identify defenders.
