  • I like Maru the cat

  • Love this movie

  • @Sonicdreamcastsucks

dude what is your problem. i was expressing my opinion you sad nerd. go away and don't bother me anymore

  • Los gringos son unos pinches culeros!!!

  • Honestly its what I believe to be an accurate picture of Iwo Jima.

I mean as Americans we know the battle was won by the US, but what about the Japanese soldiers who made us pay so dearly a cost as to make us rethink an invasion of the Mainland?

The flag was on Suribachi in 5 days, the battle raged for another 3 weeks. Costing us nearly 7000 men.

    This is a great film

  • If your going to talk, can it at least be about the video?

  • @Sonicdreamcastsucks

shut up don't tell me what to do

  • @TheNitroMo A simple response from a simple mind it seems. By telling me to shut up and then not tell you what to do, you are presenting a vast contradiction and showing your hypocrisy as you are telling me what to do. you began by saying that everyone should shut up which is you thinking you have the right to restrict our freedom of speech. to that i say fuck you as you don't, nor does anyone else have the right or the capacity to tell me what not to say. just so foolish you are

  • Fuck americans they think they are good and they think that german, japanese lose war only because them...

  • @XxExSeRxX I'm an American, and I surely don't believe that.. every nation has it's soldiers.

  • @PunkHippie1971 hmm yeah

  • @XxExSeRxX Sarcasm?

  • @PunkHippie1971 Look dude how the fuck you omgg...american attack hitler's army but hitler din't atack america why you throw atomic bomb on hyroshima and kill lots of children and civilan?and american attack german because they want that people think that german lose war because american and that isn't true

  • @XxExSeRxX Are you defending hitler now? Seriously if you think every one of us thinks that then fuck you man. And that bomb? That wasn't our decision, it was our government, along with every other stupid war we've been in along with the UN. So feel free to criticize it, but don't be an idiot an label an entire nation of people before you even know anything. Work on your english grammar too I can barely understand you.

  • @PunkHippie1971 I'm not defending hitler at all. did i say that i was people decision ?And i know it because my grandpa was there. i din't says that all of you think that.I'm from Japan sorry for band english but i'm realy sorry for pearl harbor and one more think

    governmennt and politics are shit

  • @XxExSeRxX I guess I misunderstood you. It seemed like you were coming off like all American people think that way, which is not true. That bomb should never have dropped in my opinion. I'd be very proud of your grandfather. There is no need for an apology. War is war, and we are an entirely new generation of people now. Cheers from the U.S.

  • @PunkHippie1971 War is shit...There is lots of people who din't want to fight but they must too :/ But i'm proud all of people who go to war and die there.Cheers from Japan(Hyroshima)

  • @PunkHippie1971 I don't know how I feel on that. On one side it killed a whole hell of a lot of innocent people, and on the other it saved hundreds or thousands. See why I don't know. How did they weigh human life on that day, how did they decide who should live and die? I just don't know.

  • @slayerkiller47 it didn't save anyone....Japan was already negotiating a surrender, but it wanted the US to promise the Empra's safty

  • In war ,everyone commits evil; it's just that only the loser's atrocities are put in the history books. History is written by the victor. We're all evil in war.

Back to the film, I cry nearly every time I watch it. It's so emotional, so sad. The leaders of the Axis nations may have been tyrants, but the stories of their soldiers, forced to fight a war they didn't want or need to fight, are much more moving to me.

  • Thumb me down.

  • I just want to fight for my country. Politicians are trying to make us forget everything that happen in order to live "peacefully" with the enemy.

But how can you live in peace with someone that killed your entire family and now lives in your house. How can you co-exist with someone that took part of my country and now they call that part theirs? No. I will never forget.

  • Saddest movie ever ;(

  • everyone shut up and stop arguing about a war that happened 70 years ago!

  • @TheNitroMo i wish this could be the top comment

  • @TheNitroMo what a horribly thought out comment. don't try and silence any of us, if you don't want to participate then don't read the comments but don't prevent me or anyone else from expressing what we want. who cares how long ago it was, people still debate about things that happened over 2000 years ago like Plato's republic. absoultely rediculous you are

  • @Sonicdreamcastsucks Plato's Republican never actually happened but your point remains.

  • @InnocenceExperience Well I know that, I'm talking about the literature he composed titled "The Republic of Plato" which philiophers still talk and debate about today. They debate not only what he meant but also whether or not parts of it would be viable today. It's basic philiosphy to know that ancient Greece was not Plato's Republic, he simply wrote about what he thought would be the best structure for that society

  • @Sonicdreamcastsucks yeah I was being a bit pedantic. I knew you probably knew. sorry ;-)

  • saigo is not ready for war :D

  • Great movie

    :)

  • i like Japanese people they are awesome

    Arabian guy post this

  • who is that guy at 1:24?

  • Sure, you can blame the Japanese for doing horrible things. But is there a difference between America and Japan? In war, there are two sides. Both are equally to blame.

  • What you get when you use Youtube's Transcript-audio function:

"with me today His movie's emotional Clinton beautiful Have tried to resolve this kind of congratulations draft card "thank you" was 200 million yen cause we are suspicious behavior. Net purchases, however, is of course also be isolated..."

  • 0:32 "I am determined to serve and give my life for my country" like a real Samurai

  • @ZZaiBoT2011 Yes, also, before he died he recited his own death poem (which is what samurai are known for) back to headquarters on the mainland. He decended from samurai, perhaps this explains it. :)

  • @Verradonairun Yes i know. I know many things about Japan (Samurai peace, wars, WW2, Kamikaze, Bushido, Japanese soldiers etc.)

  • @ZZaiBoT2011 yes, the military history of Japan is fascinating, isn't it?

  • @Verradonairun Yes. LOVE IT <3. but 1 thing i think is wierd you know these days Japan only working like a Defence forces (Peace) but some peoples dont like it but think Japan have been in Peace before also just look back at 17th century from 17th - 19th century they have been in peace 1867 the peace ended then the wars begin again and that they had been in peace for over 200 years. Japan have only been a Peaceful country these days around 65 years i guess but JSDF begin 1956

  • @Verradonairun after the occupation. but the Samurai spirit still alive in the modern Japan (JSDF etc.) search on Bushidocode . org to find more info but i can defently think Japan need a military too not only an army. but under the Samurai era you know the Samurais worked as a defence forces at someways. if you thinking they never attakced other countries only protect there country for the (Emperor, Master, General (Shogun etc.). but Japan is not the only country how have DF

  • @ZZaiBoT2011 where did all that come from?! haha, stop spamming

  • @Verradonairun haha xD just tell a few things lol.. about the Bushido today in the modern world (Japense self defence forces etc.) :D

  • @ZZaiBoT2011 oh, alright then. :)

You guys are going to have a problem with the Chinese pretty soon, I can imagine. So it's important not to grow entirely pacifist ;-)

  • @Verradonairun Well i am not Japanese but if i could i should fight for Japan. and i also think it can happend a war pretty soon. it have been a conflict between the 2010 about fishermens and security etc. but i think maybe about 5 - 10 years i think China have attack Japan then

  • @Verradonairun DF = Defence forces. Search on Wikipedia "Ministry of defence" there you find all countires how working/have defence forces (Japan, Italy, Germany, Norway, Sweden, Finland, Denmark, France, S korea, Thailand, etc. and if they talking shit about Japan they can talk shit about the other 67 countries too. but i think they talking shit about them becouse of they thinking for what they did in WW2 Nanjing massacre, Unit 731, Pearl harbor attack etc.

  • @william89680

    What a retard you are!

Tell all the females around you that you will show respect to the gang rapists who raped them.

    Go blow yourself, retard!

  • @KimInLosAngeles

that's it im removing my comment!

  • @KimInLosAngeles

    you got no respect

  • @KimInLosAngeles

    and fuck you!

  • letters from iwo jima is more great than flags of our fathers

  • The USA showed it was and is still the most domineny force on the planet...the japs thought they had more heart until we wiped 2 of there cities off the face of the planet...America.is not going full force in the afgan war because if we were it would be flatened we are just nit picking our way through the country making it easier for the taliban to single us out...

  • Just Americans don't like when someone is speaking about their war crimes. They always think that they bring "democracy"to the world and so they can't be bad. They also think that because of them The Axis lost the war. No, it's because of USSR. But USSR is also "enemy". All the millions died at the Eastern front.. War is bad thing, but is not givig you Americans right to think that the wars America fought are better. What about Hiroshima, Drezden(Just these in WW2, not to mention other wars)?

  • @Rimedore Considering we fought the Japanese basically all by ourselves and do you think the USSR could have taken on the Germans by themselves without the help of Canada, the UK, French resistance and other multiple countries? You cant give all the credit to the Soviets and as for "Americans" war crimes are faulted by all nations, its just whatever is in the textbook is written by the winner, so dont blame us for what we are learning in school

  • @Rimedore give me a fucking break! im american so i dont much like you talking shit about this country! Japan started the fucking war with us, they killed 3000 people at pearl harbour. we were justiified in that war. The Iraq war was bull shit and i blaim George Bush for that

  • @TrueIronMaidenFan Do you want to know why japan want to start the war .

  • @louisandshadow beacasue tehy allied up with Hitler, the govermeent did. they felt like they were similer to eachother.

  • @TrueIronMaidenFan for me i think western-est first came to their country they bullied them (sorry for my horrible english)

  • @louisandshadow what country are you from?

  • @TrueIronMaidenFan Singapore~

  • @louisandshadow ok this is a dumb question, but what language do you speak?

  • @TrueIronMaidenFan Chinese

  • @louisandshadow cool! thats like the worlds hardest language

  • @TrueIronMaidenFan lol thx

  • @louisandshadow you should right a message in chinease, impress everybodu

  • EPIC

  • I hate the Japs because of what they did to my country, but I would have to say that they will die with honor and I respect that.

  • @andrewpark35 I think Japan is exactly the same country they was before but now they only have JSDF so they only protect there own country never attack others.

  • @andrewpark35 what did they do?

  • @TheVexxel They just invaded my country Korea, killed millions of people, arrested thousands more, killed the royal family, and used the koreans as slave workers and used the womans as prostitutes. Thats what they fucking did.

  • @andrewpark35 wow dont hold grudges or anything!!! South Korea happen to be a ally of Japan

  • Oh my God! Stop talking about how Japanese people are evil. Maybe back then they were cruel as hell especially since I read about Unit 731. There will always be bad people in this world.

Apart from that, I went to Japan recently and the people there are awesome! Unbelievably polite and we have to thank them for creating interesting and weird things (no, not tentacle porn) and making funny prank shows!

I learn German in school too and history and culture is really interesting.

  • @MrSeedyROM

They're not saying that Japanese ARE evil but that the nation of Japan WERE evil as they ARE responsible for their actions. The Japanese refusal to apologize for certain war crimes needs to be dealt with as it was the equivalent of Nazi Germany. That said, I love the Japanese as being Asian myself only that I just harshly condemn the current attitude of the Japanese government.

  • @Aljeron100

Yeah because the Japanese government has never apologized. It's not like the fact that they have an entire Wikipedia page dedicated to their apologies means anything

  • @MrSeedyROM

    agree

  • @MrSeedyROM japanese people are evil

  • @Guatexico78 you idiot! japanese people are not evil, they were influenced by their government to do such things in WWII, japanese people today are very nice people, and if you think america was not as evil, then you must have forgotten about the effects of the atomic bombs, the fire bombings of japan, the air war of germany, innocent people being burned and bombed to death.

  • @OperationThrax LOL chill chill i wasnt being serious about it

  • beautiful acting!!!

  • Japanese were as evil as Nazis.

They abducted 200,000 Asians (alsco Caucasians), raped them up to 50 times a day & then buried them alive to save bullets when they became sick.

*Japanese govt wont' apologize to any of surviving sex slaves.

*It STILL sugercoats this by outrageously lying that they were whores who volunteered to service Japanese & received great treatment & even bigger salary than Japanese army generals from Japanese govt.

GOOGLE: Jan Ruff O'Herne - Japanese military sex slave

  • @KimInLosAngeles

    That is war man...... Cruel

  • @KimInLosAngeles your an ignorant douch

  • @KimInLosAngeles Were there Japanese soldiers who were cruel and evil? Of course. But would it be fair to label ALL of them as such? No. That is the same as saying all American soldiers were cruel and evil when people found out they were raping children in Vietnam. No one is proud of the inevitable "evil actions" that comes out of war, so naturally they will deny it. I am not condoning this behaviour, but that's what reality is. Hate is perpetuated by over-generalized statements

  • @KimInLosAngeles your a stupid mother fucker do you know that? the percentage of both Japanease people and Nazi's is a a small ass percentage! and that is obvious! dumb shit!!

  • 1:30-1:35 best part

  • Overall, I liked this movie quite a bit. But the character Saigo was utterly disgraceful and an insult compared to those soldiers that fought to the bitter end for the Japanese.

  • Yes, the Japanese did horrible things during the war, as did the Nazis. But can you really blame every single soldier? It wasn't the PEOPLE. Crappy leadership did this. Soldiers that were brainwashed by their oppressive governments, by whatever army they were fighting for. Don't hate the people. Hate the government at the time.

  • @PaintballRush222 Indeed. Go to the source. It's not as if soldiers decided one day to go to war all on their own.

  • Some of the greatest fighters next to the Germans and Russians..They had no fear and would die then become a prisoner

  • @CosmicDestroyer99 You mean greatest fighters next to British and American....

Seriously? Russia? You've got to be kidding, what was their ratio when fighting Germany? 1 kill for every 40 deaths? lol

  • @AmzitheSoldier Hey hey hey..What about stalingrad?? They were very brave fighters

  • This was such a great movie, letters from iwo jima and flags of our fathers made me shed tears

  • I love the way there was flags of our fathers and this film - showing the two unbiased perspectives to the story. More films need to do something like this.

  • why don't you people just shut the fuck up and enjoy the goddamn movie? your hatred for japan or any goddamn group of people for that matter is no different to hitler's hatred for jews.

  • how about you all just watch the damn movie and stop arguing over what country did what. wanna know why? none of you run a fucking country so you cant do shit anyways so stfu you faggots

  • One of the scariest films I have ever seen

  • War is an ugly way to deal with two countries. Even though this sin't the way to deal with things some things have to be sealed this way. Some places can't compromise. At least one country wants another countries something whether its land money or government issues. I cried when I watched this movie because of the natural disaster Japan and the USA went through. I am half Japanese and American. So I don't agree with neither. This movie is very touching:'(

  • Japanese were as evil as Nazis.

They abducted 200,000 Asisans (also Caucasians), raped them up to 50 times a day & buried them alive to save bullets.

Japanese govt won't apologize to any of surviving sex slaves.

In 2007, Japanese govt org bought 1 pg. of Wall Street Journal & filled it with OUTRAGEOUS LIES: 1) the females were whores who volunteered to service Japanese soldiers. 2) Japanese govt paid them more than Japanese army generals.

GOOGLE: Jan Ruff O'Herne -Japanese military sex slave

  • @KimInLosAngeles I knew you were Korean even before I clicked your profile. Good luck living a life full of hatred.

  • @hacksign000

    What's wrong with you?

You are taking the side of rapists who still lie to the world that the victims were highly-paid & well-treated whores.

You are like Obamabots here in the US.

They accuse you as a racist full of hatred toward blacks if you disagree with anything Obama is doing.

Maybe you are a Japanese or married to a Japanese.

For taking the side of rapists, you should go through all the pain the victims went through when you are in hell.

  • @KimInLosAngeles

So you think that all Japanese are rapists?

  • @KimInLosAngeles Those rapist Japanese during the war are mostly dead now. And no, not all Japanese are rapists. You're speaking as if you were there, please. You weren't even born. Why do you take it so personally ?

Let me tell you something. The Korean Soldiers were the most brutal during the Vietnam War, I'm vietnamese and it is historically written that Korean have raped so many of our woman during the war and carry out massive massacres. Should I hold my grudge on every living Koreans too?

  • @KimInLosAngeles Read my other comments to you.

The point I'm making is, you should just let go of your hatred, these things have happen decades ago. What is the use of you hating on every living Japanese ? it's not going to change anything.

Look, despite what all the things Koreans have done to Vietnam in the past, we still don't hate you. Because the past is the past. Move on.

  • man this film is good! now i wish there was a heroic pov about the german side of the war, i love a valiant tragedy, especially when its about the losing side. im sick of the US and how they repeatedly drag-on with how they seem to have single handedly saved the world from evil, yaddah-yaddah... i want a good pov from each side not just the bloody US empire. canada, the polish, russia, everyone would be better than america.

  • @VioletteChevre

There have been a couple films from German viewpoints like Valkyrie (about the group of Nazis who attempted to assasinate Hitler) and Downfall (A film about Hitler's final few days. I havent actually seen this one but it's apparently quite good)

  • Some people here talk nonsense. 99% of schools use textbooks that clearly teach about Japanese invasions and the rape of Nanking. Go to any bookstore in Japan, and you'll find a whole shelf on unit 731.

  • @Technologicaltransfo

If you don't mind me asking, where did you get this info from?

  • DUCK PHILLIPS!

he killed 13 men at okinawa

  • Japanese were as evil as Nazis.

They abducted 200,000 Asians (also Caucasians), raped them up to 50 times a day & buried them alive to save bullets.

  • @KimInLosAngeles you cant read the top comment??

  • @trikekazustudios

Other countries like US, UK, France, Germany & Russia teach the atrocities they committed in their history textbooks.

Japanese don't. They even sugercoat it.

If you don't see what is wrong with Japanese - (1) not apologizing to the SURVIVING (this means they are still alive) sex slaves & (2) lying to the world that they were whores who volunteered & received a lot of money from Japanese government - something is seriously wrong with you.

  • @KimInLosAngeles i agree with all you say, and im really sorry to all people who suffered the japanese horror and had to live with it. (im half japanese) and i know theyre wrong with that and that they dont apologies. but im kinda sick of people always saying that JAPAN or GERMANY did wrong things, we all know those were the nazi's and the fascist people doing this. My mother family might have fought but they were farmers, meant too build up something instead of annihilate things.

  • @trikekazustudios and also by the way japan is not the only country not apologizing for there mistakes, England also did many bad stuff without apologizing.

  • @trikekazustudios

NO countries on earth sugercoats their atrocities like Japanese do.

Japanese school textbooks teach that Asia was going to be invaded by the West in the early 1900's so Japan invaded them for the PEACE & STABILITY of Asia.

That doesn't make any sense, especially to the people of the countries which were invaded.

That's like making an excuse for raping your neighbor - she would be raped sometime in her life, so I raped her 1st for the PEACE & STABILITY of our neighborhood.

  • @KimInLosAngeles okay too start with, i wasn't aware of the fact that they teach there own people nonsense.

and as i said earlier i agree too most of what you say, but seriously then you don't have to post everywhere the same thing about Japanese raping in every war movie that are not so much related to this like inglorious bastards or the downfall... in that case you can better talk about nazi's or the axis.

  • @trikekazustudios

Not true actually. The idea that Japan lies in textbooks is now a myth. It used to be true, but today if you go to Japan, you can find textbooks on the Nanking massacre, Unit 731, and the comfort women.

  • @waitingforever100 really? i dont really know because i live in europe but still good to hear

  • @KimInLosAngeles What about U.S. textbooks on the treatment of Native Americans? Do they not sugarcoat the atrocities that the United States committed towards the Native Americans. The point is all countries sugarcoat there past behavior.

  • @arod8022

I guess you slept through your history classes.

And I bet you don't read newspapers.

Numorous human rights organizations & organizations for sexually abused women in the world defended the surviving sex slaves when they testified at Congresses of US, Canada, EU, Australia in 2007 & 2008 on WW2 war crimes.

Those organizations stated that NO OTHER COUNTRIES ON EARTH ever lied & sugercoated atrocities like Japan has been doing for decades.

You should read news once in a while.

  • @KimInLosAngeles No american high-schooler is taught about how American soldiers desecrate the enemies they kill. They are not told about how they'd mangle and cut up platoons of dead VCA or dead Japanese soldiers; how they would extract body parts as trophies.

  • @PaintballRush222 That rarely happened, you twit.

  • @AmzitheSoldier I guess you have some reading to do, because it happened more often than you'd think.

  • Is Mr Saito in LIMBO during all of this?

  • @DoctorComics No it was before he set up League of Shadows

  • this was probably one of the most heartbreaking and provocative movie i have ever seen.

  • The best ending to a movie. A moment of silence. Clint Eastwood was the only one to see that through.

  • Not all wanted to fight or supported Japan

  • Many people like to make things like war only a bad and good thing, like its always black and white. But the truth was that there was a lot of gray...

  • What I feel sometimes is that people forget that not all people of a certain race, religion, country, belief etc.. are bad people sure their country or race may have done something bad but that dosn't mean that every person who did not even part take in such an event is bad. Why Label a Person because of the stereotypical beleif of his country.

  • I think it was weird that a lot of Japs during ww2 committed suicide..

    "NOOOO dis is racio stereotypuuuuu!"

  • @DJBuckCallYo it was their culture

  • @DJBuckCallYo the japs, nazis, and italians committed suicide because they followed the stupid oaths of their idiotic leaders (Tojo, Hitler, and Mussolini)

  • @joah45 yeah, I know I was just quoting a joke from south park :P

  • Subjective reality

  • RESPECT! This is a movie of Clint fuckinggreatlegend Eastwood! ;D

  • Why are there so many arguments... Japan may have done wrong, but they werent the only country who did this. In japan the people their are kind and respectful to everyone. When there was earthquakes in japan earlier this year, Australia and other countries that fought with japan in ww2, help save peoples lives in japan. This war was years ago and it doesn't matter now...

  • Japan knows what real honor is, i get inspired by reading stories of japanese soldiers during WW2, some call them insane, i call them the bravest and most honourable men on the planet.

then again i find it both weak and logic that the americans threw the atomic bombs.

  • why is it that every time i look up a trailer for a movie like this, theres ALWAYS A FUCKING INTERNET ARGUMENT -- YOU FUCKING FAGGOTS SHUT THE FUCK UP YOUR PROVING NOTHING. as same goes for I.

  • Why my dick is bashing so hard with this trailer. I think that Japanese have more balls to do this

  • malditos gringos ijos de putas los odio siempre estan invadiendo a los otros paises...malditos pero como ayy un dicho todo lo que sube algun dia tiene que bajar

  • Best movie ever much better than pearl harbor

  • @Headshotzzzzzzzz yes Pearl Harbor was bad.

  • @LimeyK AHHHHHH!!!!! PEARL HARBOR IS THE BIGGEST PIECE OF SHIT MOVIE EVER MADE!!!!!!!

    watch?v=6jXOyqFZsR4&feature=channel_video_title

  • @Headshotzzzzzzzz watch?v=6jXOyqFZsR4&feature=channel_video_title

  • @Zekezeke80 a lot of the japanese didn't want to do that but they had no choice. The ones that should of got nuked were the nazis

  • A true war movie, better than Steven Spielberg style propaganda

  • @mindarinas Let me tell you that "Propagandist" helped make this film you ignorant dipshit.

  • @Trekiefreak777 well thank God only helped, becouse he would make, typical Steven Spielberg fare: a big budget spectacle, bereft of style, filled to the brim with childishly heavy-handed moralizing and peopled with facile "characters" who exist only as cardboard cutouts for the ensuing morality play. Even the film's underlying subtext is an old Spielberg standby - America GOOOOOD, Nazis BAAAAD oh and at the ending two guys would take out whole army of Japs

  • @mindarinas Wow, you are on pot aren't you?

  • "Let's fight the Americans, general!" "C'mon, bitches, I bought the airline"

  • i love those drums at the end

  • the two best actors of Japan: Ken Watanabe & Ninomiya Kazunari....NINO! :D
