I think the audio needs a little more oomph! You should try picking up the EM waves from the disk drive with a telephone pick-up coil and amplifying it!
@briankaz Crap, that's a good idea, why didn't I think of that before I returned the drive to it's owner? I may have to crack open another old drive and take a blunt instrument to the platters to see if I can recreate the effect.
