I like this. I have never seem this musical except on Youtube. Are you familiar with "Love Letters", my neighbors worked in theater as scene buiders and costume designers. I saw it with Mr. Charleston Hesten and Carol Burnette. It was an awesome play. I got to see the costume room and how they made the costumes. :) I really enjoyed watching this. Are there any more?

The musical is outdated and had to be updated. But the music doesn't age imho. Then again it was imprinted on me early and I do know it by heart.

@UKSundaeGirl72 No, you're absolutely right, the music really doesn't age. At least not yet. I just got into Chess a year ago, and I'm 22 so I don't just like the show for the sense of nostalgia. It's just a genuinely good show! And I think that at this point it's almost thirty years outdated so it's become a "period piece" now, it doesn't really need to be updated IMO because it takes you back in time.

Why in all new productions is Florence, Freddies lover?! She was only meant to be his second. It adds nothing to the story. Josh Groban fans also need to learn to stop screaming when he comes on stage. Its theatre, not a pop concert!

@RandomPersonman Thanks for that. I hadnt seen the original production. I still think however it adds nothing to the story. I think that its works better as Florence just being Freddies second. That would probably cause Freddie greater distress and feel more let down by her 'betrayal'.

in life generally I think it can hurt a lot more being let down by a true friend than a lover.

Just my opinion though.

I wish someone had a video of the original London version. It opened with "The Tale of Chess". The stage was a giant chessboard and the dancers/chorus were dressed all in gold as chess pieces. It was amazing

No.. you're wrong. The show opens with Merano. The Arbiter' song as you call it is part of the Opening Ceremony which is after Merano, Press Conferance, The Russian and Molokov and Where I Want To Be.
