The perfect song for the first day of Winter, I have been requesting that my local radio stations play this. I know a lot of people not having such a happy holiday but if Freddie could sing about how wonderful this season is as sick as he was, the rest of us should be able to find that joy...he continues to inspire 20 years later and is greatly missed

He could obviously hear it all in his head, although he didn't have any musical instruments with him. I remember him coming into the studio and saying: "I've got this idea . . . just give me a few minutes." Then he brought it to life."
And this was recorded by a man who could barely sit for a couple of hours a day, let alone stand, suffered from constant debilitating pain, and who would die of bronchopneumonia in just a short 5-6 weeks... Unbelievable!.... The incredible talent aside - name a contemporary artist who would be a man enough to do that, knowing all too well that the end is so near.... Such a beautiful song and it's definitely my favourite Queen song, it's just such a shame that this was the last song ever recorded by Freddie before he passed away, from what I understand of it, Freddie recorded the vocals in parts when he was feeling well enough to sing during the last few months of his life.

In A Winter's Tale, Freddie was very close to the end of his life.
In Mother Love, Freddie passed away during the recording so Brian finished the song by singing the last verse. My understanding is that Brian emotionally could not sing the last verse until about a year later.

He did not finish recording that song because he got too sick - that is why Brian sings the last few verses on the final record. A Winter's Tale is the last musical composition that Freddie wrote by himself. I think he shared writing credit with Brian on Mother Love.

It was indeed Freddie's last song he contributed to music before he died. He made it two weeks prior to his death.
He wrote it when he stayed at his flat in Sweden,Montreal,having done several albums there previously. Since coming there for many years, he came to realise how important the tranquil and peace he can gain from this place when he was being hounded by the press.
Actually, you're wrong. The last song that Freddie last recorded was "Mother Love". In fact, he was in such a pain that he wasn't able to finish the song. Brian May finished. Check it :) The last video was "These Are the Days ouf Our Lives".

What passion in Freddie's voice just weeks before he died.....his last visit to Montreaux, where he seemed so in tune with nature and his surroundings. He knew that these simple things are what makes life beautiful, and being yourself at all times.....Freddie, in our hearts forever! What a legend!

Can someone clarify this for me- is this the last song Freddie Mercury ever sung, or the alst song he wrote entirely by himself. I was under the impression that Mother Love was the last song Freddie sung before his death.

Mother Love was the last song Freddie sang.
In A Winter's Tale, Freddie was very close to the end of his life.
In Mother Love, Freddie passed away during the recording so Brian finished the song by singing the last verse. My understanding is that Brian emotionally could not sing the last verse until about a year later.

@mariomkd8203 Yes, as others said, Mother Love is the last VOCAL recording that Freddie made. He did not finish recording that song because he got too sick - that is why Brian sings the last few verses on the final record. A Winter's Tale is the last musical composition that Freddie wrote by himself. I think he shared writing credit with Brian on Mother Love.

It was indeed Freddie's last song he contributed to music before he died. He made it two weeks prior to his death.
He wrote it when he stayed at his flat in Sweden,Montreal,having done several albums there previously. Since coming there for many years, he came to realise how important the tranquil and peace he can gain from this place when he was being hounded by the press.

Actually, you're wrong. The last song that Freddie last recorded was "Mother Love". In fact, he was in such a pain that he wasn't able to finish the song. Brian May finished. Check it :) The last video was "These Are the Days ouf Our Lives".

Oh my god - that´s my most favourite X-mas-song - I hear it EVERY YEAR when the first snow is falling from the sky and on the 24th of december! I have pictures in my head by listening to this song!
