  • i think he wuld be an amazing phantom of the opera cuz his voice is so beautiful and full of sad emotion and that really touches ur heart plus i love the fact that his voice is so rough and raspy i think the phantom shuld have a voice like that cuz hes been thru so much

  • does anyone know who plays Quasimodo?

  • funny how the line 'mais, tu est un fous' and 'le pape des fous' is tranlated into 'Oh! You could not care less'....

  • Comment removed

  • Uh... it's name is "Pape des fous." So your title is right... just you need to make it french.

  • I can't stop listening!!

  • WOW... the translation... really leaves something to be desired. Though I understand that you can't capture everything when translating.

  • lol he's in supposedly ugly makeup but I find him hot..weird...?

  • @DarkieDarkside because you can't hide what is already hot with "ugly"!! :D

  • @Animebuddies101 I thought this before I even saw him without the make-up.

  • @DarkieDarkside Me too!!

  • @Animebuddies101 hahaha, awesome!

  • that should be le pape des fous. oops ;p

  • It does have a title, 's called le pape de fous :) and I love it!

  • could his voice be any deeper

  • 11 people which they were the pope of fools

  • The name of the song is Les Pape de Fou

    The king of fools.

  • Oh my god. Chills.

  • It's a approximatively translation.

  • i was looking for a song on another site and i saw pope de fools so got me interested and brings me to a beautiful french song and play, i from japan all we get is men in leafs or to be honest happatai, great song and not to mention hunchback of notre dame.

  • Somehow, somewhat this song makes me cry....

    I love Garou <3

  • Garou!!! I love you!

  • 11 reaLY dumn ppl such DPS

  • There's no other man able to perform such an emotional song with so much feeling in it, breaking every heart that listenes to it.

  • @CherryCarryStar There is a song called gathemane by Steve Balasmo

Originally from "Jesus Christ SuperStar".. It's my all time

  • this song breaks my heart :(. So good!

  • does anyone else just wanna run up to him and give him a big hug? or am i just weird?

  • @mrsbubblegum481 Anyone who doesn't want to give him a big hug is just mean!

  • @mrsbubblegum481 haha I love him, even in ugly make-up he is adorable.

  • @mrsbubblegum481 No, I quite understand and agree...poor guy, I'd give him a million hugs, if not many, many more! :)

  • @mrsbubblegum481 I do, too. To be fair, every rendition of Quasimodo I've wanted to hug

  • What is the name of this dvd? I can not find on google, and I want to buy.

  • @DiegaoRules Look on fnac.com for "Notre Dame de Paris - Le spectacle" ^^

  • c'est vraiemtn triste :(

  • :((...too sad...Garou acts very well...that's touching my heart...

  • they can try and make him look as ugly as possible, but that wont work wit Garou, hes too beautiful

  • Isn't it Ironic that Quasimodo, having been ostracized for his ugliness, focuses his attention most specifically towards Esmeralda for her beauty ?

  • @LexPhilogus never thought about this.

  • @LexPhilogus Well in the book, it says that he really fell in love with her when she offered him water - while everyone else mocked, tortured, and threw stones and rags at him. He fell in love with her naturally kind heart.

11 people had to cry so much that they pushed the wrong button

  • @megi547 'Extraterrestrial' is an unusually appropriate word for the entire production. Garou's perfect in any language, but in its original French version.. there's just no comparison. Particularly that tortured passion @ 1:30-1:45 always gives me goosebumps. One feels the potential of music to transcend experience and become a kind of magic.

  • You're pretty close; the real title on the CD is ''Le pape de fous''.

  • i dont know why but this song has something extraterrestrial inside i simply <3 it

Mon coin Resp

  • It's wonderful

  • This is such a sad song! Poor Quasimodo!

  • my heart breaks for him everytime i hear this song! Soo well sung

  • God i wish i could have gone to see this play this thing is just flat out amazing i love it...

  • Watching this show again makes me so happy ! I can't explain it , it gives me chills to watch this again , it reminds me of when I was little watching this dvd over and over again! LOVE IT!

  • The whole cast is absolutely perfect. So beautiful performance it is a feast for all senses.

  • le Pape des Fous I love. I just love Quasimodo howling out 'The Folls' Pope!'

  • Very, very beautiful song! How he sings 'Esmeralda' and 'pape des fous'. Awesome!

  • I do believe most of the cast, if not all, are Canadians... I forget the name of the actor who plays Quasimodo but he performed at the opening ceremony of the 2010 olympics here in Vancouver

  • @1NC0H3R3NT Garou plays Quasimodo. and I believe most of the cast are Canadian, but I know Patrick Fiori (Phoebus) is from France. Garou is from Quebec, and Daniel Lavoie is from the Prairies somewhere... Maybe Alberta? Or Saskatchewan.

  • @valnoelle I did say "most"

  • @valnoelle Daniel Lavoie is from Quebec too!

  • Garou is perfect in this!

  • hes amazing i got no words

  • does anyone know what this song is actually called?

  • Comment removed

  • This song is called "Le Pape Des Fous". It is a truly outstanding performance by Garou, the same as every other song he sings in the show. His voice is truly perfect for Quasimodo. When I think Notre Dame de Paris, I think Garou. He makes the show.

  • I just love his voice! He kind of reminds me of a French Tom Waits

  • Pure awesomeness!!!!!

  • I cry everytime I hear this song. Love the emotion in his voice

  • Garou, your voice is epic.

  • awesomeeeeeeeeeeeeee

  • It called the pape des fous, not le pope des fous

  • Garou is wonderful!!!!

  • He does such a good job! I just wish they had done more with the deformity without it getting in the way of his singing obviously.

  • who else loves and hates his creepy smile at the end??

  • this is sooooo sad when he says i hate the parents who gave me birth aaaaaah

  • I love his vocal expression in this song! There's such a joy in the way he sings of his crowning and love for Esmeralda, but there's such a sadness there too. No one can play Quasimodo like Garou!

  • i love this song, it's so moving!

  • This scene always makes me cry when Quasimodo has reached the height of being Le Pape des Foux, his only wish not being fulfilled and Esmeralda turns away. Richard Cocciante's music, with the choir and cascading notes puts a chill in my spine and a tear in my eye. Thank you for posting this, Queenisgod.

  • the name is "Esmeralda, m'aimeras-tu?"

The one before was "La Fête des Fous" :)

  • has anyone got the english lyrics to this song? It's one of my favorite songs of notre dame de paris, but the subtitles don't fit the music and I can't sing in french.

  • @Trancilian The king of fools ittle girls, don't come laughing in my tracks. On this day you can't attack, Quasimodo the hunchback. The people choose, the king of fools. We celebrate today, the festival of kings. And for today they say I can have anything. Will you love me, Esmeralda? Will you love me? But I won't do, Esmeralda. I'm not for you, you look right through. The king of fools. The king of fools. The king of fools.
  • @fabiachan thanks, makes it a lot easier to sing along:)

  • hmm if im right this song is called "petites filles" (little girls) ;)

  • @Chandra91 Nope, it's called Le pape des fous. (cause he's just been elected pope of fools..)

  • @ludu38 ^^ believe me, i've got the cds at home and it's really called "petites filles".. "le pape des fous" was the previous song ;)

  • the best part is from 00:00-2:54

  • @MrAlon5059

Dude i agree his is perfect for Quasi His voice with its natural cracking is perfect.

  • one of my favorite songs! <3 this musical! and i love how at 2:34 he starts swinging his legs like a little kid having the best day of his life, its soooo sweet! He's just so happy to be the Pope of Fools.

  • J'ai envie de pleurer ... :(

  • oh! this song make me cry. oh, how terrible. yet, beautiful

  • lol... T_T

  • Ooooooooh When he goes "Esmer-aaaalllldaaaaaaaaahhhh! I just want to run up and wrap my arms around him ;)

    Mrauuu! :}

  • amazing voice!

    garou rocks! <3

  • And this song has a title too, of course.

It's called Le pape des fous.

  • If I were in Esmeralda's place, I don't believe I would be able to contain myself from bursting out crying and hugging Quasimodo, because this song is just so moving.

  • It's called 'Le Pape des Fous'

    Just so you know..

  • Google ''Garou'' you'll see how handsome this singer is!

  • And in reality Garou is so handsome.

  • Indeed.

  • I can feel so much emotion in this song, even though I dont speak French. That is amazing.

  • I just noticed, he only has makeup on the left (his right) side of his face......does anyone know why?

    BEAUTIFUL SONG SUNG WONDERFULY!!!

  • @broadwaydude2378

    because quasimodo is deformed

    this makeup is awesome

  • @broadwaydude2378

because in the book his face is so distored that he has skin that folds over on one side of his face, making his eye blind since it closes his lid up.

  • Probably bc jus like the Hunch back of Notre Dame one side of his face was deformed.

  • @broadwaydude2378

Because that side of his face is supposed to be disfigured.

  • maybe those are some kind of scars... i dont know it could be

  • this gives me goosbumps every time. AMAZING.

  • perfect, that only the moment when he says "Esmerala" has a very different melodie... masterpiece ^^.

  • How touching! Someone really have to hug Quasimodo :) wonderful stuff

  • do you dare to hug him?:P

  • I want to give Quasimodo a shampoo so badly. Garou is adorable as Quasi....

  • I love this song! Quasimodo's voice sounds so sad!

  • Wow ive never heard this song before. I love it! Very touching

  • This is one of the most beautiful songs in the show to me. One of my favorites :)

  • his voice is awsome and perfect for quasimodo

  • @laskahond

    the singer is garou

    he has beautiful songs

  • @TheIncredibleSquir I especially like "sous le vent" that he sings with Celine!

  • @laskahond not only the voice also the structure of the character, garou is an incredible acteur.

  • I do love Garou!!

  • you have to love GAROU!!!

  • Cela me rend vraiement triste, je veux l'embrasser ._.

    M'aimeras-tu Esmeralda?... m'aimeras-tu?

    Mais tu t'en fous Esmeralda

Oh tu t'en fous qu'ils m'aient élu le pape des fous...

    Le pape des fous...

    Le pape des fous...

    Le pape des fous...

  • Oh man, you just want to run up onstage and give the guy a hug...such a beautiful performance.

  • @ClassicNovel yea you do!

  • @ClassicNovel I hear you my friend! Let's go together...:) Theen i will suddenly see frollo annd attack him with hugs and kisses! Daniel is such a teddy bear in real life, but he potrays the role soooo well!

  • @ClassicNovel I know, just a testament to how freakin' awesome his performance is. :) x

  • @ClassicNovel best comment ever!
