  • Yer I know I read someone else's post wrong mountain not mtb ahh nice vid:) got 60mm stem not for down hill pursuits handling too sensitive but I'm suprised it's quite nice for long rides.

  • 40mph is nothing on a simple big hill with a mtb, respect for tdf and mountain stage racers especially in 1960s when bikes where less predictable and flying of the mountain was highly probable

  • @BARRGE50 I was riding a road bike with tyres a few centimeters wide, not a mountain bike

  • Wow, if you got 50mph on this mountain could someone tell me then if 40mph is good for a 16 year old to get in Essex?

  • Where did you attach the camera? On your chest?

  • @legendarystar11 yep on my chest

  • @markyj1 Alright Thanks!

  • Try doing this on a Track bike

  • 5:35 that's a hell of a fall :-ss but incredible ride tough... thx for the ride :D

  • super cool view

  • I´m Edward from Brazil.

It´s a nice video. I really enjoyed it.

    Where is it?

Here in Brazil we´ve a long downhill like that called

Serra do Rio do Rastro. It´s a 10 mile/16km downhill.

I´ve thought to go down on it by bike, but it has much more

deep downhills, and curves so closed that it´s not safe

to go in it so fast. So, this downhill is much more safe to do it.

  • Fuck me that look scary

  • awesome, good job relaying to everyone behind you too,

what did you shout at 13:22 when you passed that motor group?

  • @GMSamuelRhine I think it was "F*********ck' as they were a few inches from hitting me.

  • @markyj1 lmao!

  • One of the best descends I've ever seen.

  • Imagine slipping at 03:45

  • looks aweaomse! how fast do u think u were goin?

  • @MaxAmaSity top speed was around 57mph

  • @markyj1 ahh nice. would love to ride up there.

  • this is awesome im just getting into road biking how long was it before u could ride like that

  • @twojaek it was my second trip to the alps but i used to ride motorbikes for years so the descending came naturally. technique is key though so take it slow until you build your confidence

  • @markyj1 so awesome man

  • @twojaek Cheers!

  • I need that bike/camera/descent

  • awesome view

  • 15 minutes of heaven? Damn I wish I could do that, did you drive or cycle to the top?

  • @meandkg Cycle of course! driving is cheating

  • Great decent ! I'm getting my first roadie in two days, I live near Toronto though so no mountains for me, just rolling hills :(

Is there anything I should take into consideration or know about biking before I go?

    Thanks :)

  • If you fell going this fast; roughly, what would happen.

  • @ChoconutBwownie 100% you'd break a couple ribs, wrists and collar bones. Fracture a hip. Of course it matters how and what angle you are when falling.

  • @ChoconutBwownie Roughly Death

  • Was this one way road?

  • @Sammyfest no two way

  • it looks easy to fall

  • Its a great film this - there're some good hangon&gripthebarsfordearlife - bits LOL thats what ya call a DESCENT ! ive got 52mph on an english descent its one of my goals to do the pyranees or alps etc..thanx for vid mate ! ;)

  • Great vid! Was the camera chest mounted?

  • @jelo13 Yeah it was on my chest, its the only way to get your hands and the sky in shot at the same time. keeps it very stable too.

  • @markyj1 yeah but you can't have an aerodynamic position, can you ?

  • @andreavda Yeah you can, i was tucked in close to the frame. camera is wide angle so doesnt show it. head down bum in hte air, chin over the bars

  • @markyj1 which side did you descend to? the val d'isere side or the bonneval-sur-arc side?

  • Wasn't mr. Raynolds freezing his legs off...daaamn it looks cold for 3/4s

  • @v35k037V Nah its was pretty warm actually. watch my video of the same moutntain the yeah after. its -15C in that one... frrrreeeeezzzing!

  • @v35k037V it wasn't that cold. just gotta keep moving!

  • which side did you descend to? the val d'isere side or the bonneval-sur-arc side?

  • Good video.

What was your average speed going down the mountain ?

and what was your fastest speed ?

Looks like you guys were in a hurry LOL

    roadie4ever

  • @TrangulumAustrale top speed was about 57mph i think.. average speed about 25mph. its a 40km descent and we got down in just over 15mins

  • Comment removed

  • @markyj1 OMG! 57mph ?!?! That is 91.73kph, which we go by here in Australia..

    That's scary fast ekk.

Then again, i was tracking my downhill decent on Sports Tracker GPS and it showed that

my top speed was 120kph / 74.57mph which i just don't believe LOL then again, who knows :-D

Thanks for sharing your video :-)

  • @markyj1 40km descent? in 15 minutes? that means an average speed of 160kmh :d I thought the descent was something around 25km.

  • @roblanduser1 Maybe im wrong, ill check. i think each side is different though.

  • brotha i dare you to hit the front brake at 1:05 !!!

  • maaaan....these drops are scary,one mistake and you're fucked

  • Nice piloting! What's causing the thumping sounds? Where there riders behind you at 12:50 ?

  • @davepaff i think its just the wind and my legs pedaling hard to maintain the speed on the straights. No riders close behind just my friend up front.

  • Could you tell me it's coming off what way, south or north?

  • cool vid, the fastest i have gone is 85 k/hr on new mexico road in a descent , i was pretty scare, but at the end it was the coolest thing i have ever done in my bike, and second climbing the alpe d huez in 2003.

    congratulations on an excellent descent.

  • liking it but some of those drop offs looked scary !! thanks for posting

  • I went biking down a mountain today had a blast its the most fun ive had in a bike

  • OMFG!!! i am jealous!!!! i want to do something like that RIGHT NOW!!!!!!!!!!!:)

  • Did you guys ride back up?

  • @heydatsik We rode up first then rode down

  • I like it when you blew by the motorcycle!

  • @sgsgent The wide lens make it look quite safe but he was a few inches away from hitting me, very scary.

  • hey man awesome video, i need you help, i just wanted to ask about whether should i get a road or a hardtail mountain bike for riding on city streets, you should keep in mind that i am a beginner and the streets might have slight bumps, so is the road gonna be very uncomfortable?

  • What bike were you on?

  • @ebutuoy1324354657687 De Rosa Avant

  • Comment removed

  • what do you do in 11:36? it looks like you lift your front wheel :D

  • Some of that was quite frightening, Amazing video.

  • If only many places had gorgeous places to ride like this look at this place is unbelievable

  • Nice! Wasnt it slippery? Since there was snow i mean :P

  • @Tori17991 The road was fairly dry actually, only a couple of water patches that we had to be careful round. Best conditions for descending though!

  • Comment removed

  • Probably the only biking video I've seen with 0 dislikes. Then again, how could someone dislike this?

  • so thats obviously campy - is it chorus or record?

  • @kthorstrejka The Cervelo in front (red jacket) is Record, my bike is a mixture of chorus and centaur.

  • That is an awsome descent. How many miles is the climb and how long does it take to get up the hill.... The downhill is the reward! Great Job

  • @mrRhwalden I think the climb is around the 25km mark and take nearly 2 hrs i think.. i need to dig out all the stats really. we were climbing between 8-12 mph most of the way. 6-10% gradiant

  • hairball!

  • Col d'Iseran

  • PUSSIES! My wife and I have descended a 10,023 high mountain on bikes. And we are old. Suck it, youngsters!!!

  • what if he got to the bottom and forgot to press "record" :/

  • @kyrilidis7 I think it was just over exposing so badly the chip didnt like it? try googling Gopro black spots

  • ohhhhh my goddd......what speed did you hit on that one straightaway around 11:30?

  • @kthorstrejka probably 45-50 mph, most of the straights were high 40's early 50's topping out at 57mph i think

  • @markyj1 wow that was beastly.......going full speed downhill i can hit about 44 on my 1968 motobecane

  • Holy freakin shit that was one of the most amazing bike videos I have ever seen in my life! 15 minutes of descent, that's my biggest dream... You guys are awesome!

  • oh...yeaa...trying to get killed... I love that speed ...not design for a bike

  • @camaroblackmatte The bikes we ride are designed for 60mph + ill have you know. they feel very sturdy at that speed. yes there is a risk but there is in a lot of sports.

  • @markyj1 aha..now I know why riders punch their motors 300 k/h + , cause they can !

  • @camaroblackmatte Funny cause they sound English?

  • I took my motorbike to the alps. You can imagine my surprise when I was overtaken by a bicycle! Great descent.

  • @jonnyspurdog dont think they were happy to see me wizz past either

  • @markyj1 Don't think I would want to be doing 50mph on those skinny tyres!

I ended up following the cyclists that overtook me, they certainly didn't slow down for the corners! Looks a bit nippy too, how many newspapers down the jersey? I use that trick on my motorbike now! Amuses my mates.
