I have a weird question.. why do you have to use a basecoat? can you paint on them without one?

i use scorched brown, graveyard earth, and then final hilights of either bleached bone or rotting flesh, depending on what type of fur im painting, bleached bone for usual pelts or animal fur, or the rotting flesh if im painting stuff like a chaos hound or a chaos space marine pelt i have greenstuffed.

Would Gold + highlight Snakebit Leather or Scorched Brown look good? Or is Gold one of those colours you don't mix with? (Kinda wanna try if Dark Gold would fit, you know.

Don't know if Gold + Black becomes too hard to work with).

WOW. This will help alot when I get my just ordered warriors. I'm not too good at painting. I'm not bad but this is faster and better looking then what I probably would have done without watching these.

I know i good way to paint white fur! If you care i'll explain!

1. I spray it Chaos Black.

2. I paint the fur "bestial brown" that i've mixed with alot of "skull white".

3. Then I let it dry and drybrushing it with "skull white"!

I wish I had the patients to go through all of those steps... I usually just base it with chaos black, do a few simple layers, and then rap it all up with some drybrushes... hey at least I do the bases :D

Using a hairdryer makes so much sense. Amazing how much it helps with seeing the finished result of a layer of pain or highlighting..Thanks bud
