The vast majority of what she says in the song are either inconveniences, bad decisions, or coincidences. But that's the beauty of it, because she makes the entire song ironic in making nothing actually ironic.

It would only be ironic to rain on your wedding day if you were a weather reporter and you had predicted a fine day. Irony is basically a figure of speech where you say the opposite of what you mean, thus making a mockery of the intended sense of the sentence.

As an ulterior meaning (again, in my language at least), ironic means sardonic or mocking.

In the lyrics an adverse reality mocks (so to speak) whoever lives it. In that sense, that is ironic.

Some online english dictionaries - I see - seem to agree and list "unexpected" as a synonym.
