  • You may be interested in this new CD called "Aria" by Irish sax player Gerard McChrystal which includes Bozza's 'Aria'. Here are samples from the CD here, including

  • @sexybetch3434 I'm 14 and playing this piece too! I love it! When I get to the 'En animant un peu' I always seem to play just that little bit to fast!

  • the only thing i can say is as u get louder try not to change the dark deep sound that you have, cause it changes the mood. a consistent sound through out the entire piece would make the song great

  • Thank you very much because i am 14 also playing this for solo and ensemble. Unlike what everyone else says, this piece does not look easy and it is not easy. Your sound is brilliant and your vibrato gorgeous. I hope that i can play this at least somewhat like you do because it is awesome.

  • This is great, thnk u very much. im 16 and play de alto also. im doing this piece for solo and ensemble

  • I am so glad this was posted. I am doing a sax solo to this song also in March and this gives me really good pointers thanks so much

  • Wow! I'm 14 and I just got this piece for my solo and at first I said "This looks easy." But now after hearing you play this, I'm scared! Amazing vibrato and excellent tone! How long did you work on this?

  • Hi! I played this for my grade 7 classical sax exam in 2008 and i really loved it!

I'm hopefully doing it for my A2 performance piece (one of the pieces anyway.... maybe a singing one for my other... hmmmmm)

Anyway, I really love your tone quality and steady vibrato.... i'm applying to do music at Uni and hope to to sax as my main instrument (Y)

I'll be looking out for more of your amazing vids! :D

    xx

  • hey, im 16 this year and im playing this piece for my music performance

i like the way you interpretated the music compared to other videos ive seen, its exactly how i imagind it! well done, its a great performance :)

  • Beautiful

  • I never thought of looking up this song until today. I played it on my final saxophone exam when I was 17, three years ago.

I wouldn't say this song is easy, you have to put a lot of emotion in it and the breathing is also very difficult. But you did a wonderful job, this version is beautiful!

  • just amazing i have been playing for two years and cant even play vibrado but u are just amazing

  • absolutely perfect im a second year band student how do u get the high notes to sound so clean and learn to play vibrado

  • great! i've played this song last year, but not as good as you xD i'm 16 now ;)

  • Beautifully played - i've watched dozens of videos so far and this is my favourite solo

  • Your tone quality is absolutely magical! Keep up the good work, I really enjoyed this.

  • Your tone quality is absolutely magical! Keep up the good work, I really enjoyed this.

  • very awesome!!! love it!

  • amazing :)

I like listening when you play this theme, cause I am learning arie now. Your movie help me :) thanks. best wishes and good luck with saxophone! :)

  • wooooow you play very nice saxophone,

    wowiee,

    it is awesome!!!

    love it!

  • I really enjoyed hearing you play. You play well beyond the level of a 16 year old. congrats and keep up the great work. Oh, by the way, I saw where someone made the comment about you rushing. Too bad they don't know that you are supposed speed up those spots and that your accompanist didn't follow.

  • wow ...GUY ...you play the alt sax very very well .....i play the alt sax too ..but i am 18 years old ...and my exam is tomorrow and i gonna play this theme !!!! ...

  • Nice sound, beautiful piece.

  • this song is brutal on your chops especially if you do the vibrato.

  • you're rushing big time. And watch your intonation and timbre when you crescendo - this is an absolutely unforgiving piece.

  • ... wow negative comments suck so stop talking

  • I dunno why everyone is making a big deal out of the vibratos in this video, but I really like your tone control and expression a lot. I like to call this piece "The Jawbreaker"

  • This is superb!

  • Brings back some old memories when I had to play this tune for an audtion into a music conservatory 30 years ago. You play it very nice and well done.

  • amazing vibrato.

the piece is easy, but, because of the high high level of expression and large gaps between breaths, the song can be very challenging.

great playing, but a little too fast on the grace notes for my liking. great tone on the high parts.

what's with the hair flip at 2:35?

    amazing job.

  • um WOW!! You're completely like AWESOME!!! I so wish my vibratos were as good as yours =0

  • hammermäßig!

werde demnächst beginnen für ne hochzeit zu übn, da werd ich das auch spieln..

jezz weiß ich, was ich mir als ziel nehmn werde! danke =)

  • very very good sound !!

  • it's very easy to learn but the hardest thing is the vibrato

  • wow ur amazing!!!!!!!

  • Wow! all along the piece the sound was just and your vibrato are sick!!!!!!!!

  • I'm jealous, you're sound is just incredible. You're vibrato was just right, really nice tone as well. What saxaphone and mouthpiece is it you're using?

  • Sehr schön gespielt.

    Anders als ich es spiel.

Ich hab in dem Stück einen wesentlich größeren Unterschied zwischen ppp und ff, macht es, meiner Meinung nach, dramatischer.

  • You're definitely on the right track musically. You have control and that's a great deal not just going through the notes. Vibrato's perfectly fine with me, as well as your tone which is great! If anything i would tell you to practise a bit more on your overtones to give more colour to your sound. But overall a great great effort, you will go far! :)

  • i played this song on the bari 4 a solo festival

  • not altogether sure what everybody's whining about... i thought the vibrato was great.

i get to learn this and about 3 other pieces in a total of 6 weeks for my carnegie mellon audition. gonna be a blast.

  • i have a sax solo 2marrow

  • Sax players can sometimes overdo the vibrato so hush about there not being enough. Its better to start small... easier to control when you want to make it more pronounced.

  • what song is that called , like the exact name cuz i need sheet music for it. for an audition. PLEASE help. PLease.

  • It is

    Aria by Eugene Bozza

  • thanks mate. im an idiot. lol, nice vid BTW and dont listen to thees jerks bitchin about your vibrato . you sound amazing. pease.

  • thanks bro/

  • Bozza?? you sure? i thought it was Bozz..

  • It's Bozza.

  • do you hapen to know where i could get music fo this becuase i have been lookig for a solo i ned at my school and this would be perfect

    maybe even paiano music too?

    please and thank you

  • his beautiful tone definitely makes up for the vibrato. Don't be so harsh on someone who's still learning.

  • lukas du geile sau

    echt geil!!

  • Hey, don't be too harsh on the vibrato. He's only 16, so he's still a student. Plus, he does have vibrato. It's very subtle in some places, but it's still there.

  • BRAVO!!!! congratulations from Italy.

    Luciano Inguaggiato

(DeLuxe Saxophone Museum - Flauto Magico Consort)

  • I GUESS YOU HAVEN'T HEARD OF VIBRATO

  • @0218276 i guess you don't have ears jerk. shut up

  • when i played this for my professor in college she told me this tempo was wayyyyy too slow

  • Beautiful

  • also ich hab das stück auch grade angefangen zu spielen in der musikschule...hoffe ich kann das auch bald so schön spieln....echt super....

  • Very nice!

  • sehr geil Lukas!!! super ton mach weiter so!! LG Hubi

  • vibrato vibrato vibrato. You have nice tone that needs to be complemented by some good vibrato

  • wow, great job man, I wish I had your tone when I play alto. xD I think there should be more vibrato however, with your good tone a good vibrato would enhance the musicality.

  • Wow, what a great killer of a tone, you play great, but with that tone you should choose music that deserves it.

  • Great!! I'm playing this piece this year and it is amazing. But, yes, I think it's supposed to be played a bit slower...

  • lol i liked the part where you brushed aside your hair. anyway, great performance! your tone is impeccable

  • Itylwith@ iTs not that easy to play it slow 'coz you have to breath somewhere. well unless i have to breath. xD i played a bit faster... and they said that was beautifuL... so.. i think that tempo was just right^^

when i listned It for 3th time i heard that the tone Cis sounds.. how can i say... choked.. but it still sounds good.^^

on the time 4.37 i hink... ther should be PPP [ pianisimo posibile ] and you played like F [forte] O_O was like that written on your notes?

  • You have a beautiful tone but you play it the aria to fast I think. If you play it a little bit slower you can make more music.

  • What size reed do you use?

  • nice!!!

  • Absolutely beautiful. I hope you pursue Music Perfomance on the Masters level (after your undergraduate study in Music!)

The tone quality is the signature of mature musianship. Many can play technical but only those who have spent long hours working on tone quality shine.

    Great Job,

    A Music Educator

  • thank you

  • @ooops9 yeah. this piece is grade 7 in England and on paper it should be more like grade 6 as its quiet slow. I ain't saying its easy you have to watch your breathing.

However as you say correctly, working on a unique sound is what will really get you noticed as a musician and make people want to listen.

  • Goregous tone. Awesome acoustics. I love this pi ece. It's definitely one of my top favorites.

  • Sounds really good!May be somewhere to hi.

    Who is your teacher?

  • Sounds good kid. It's easy to blow this one off but you really make some music with it.

  • i love the way you played this solo. i think you kicked ass

  • supa gut lukas :)

  • nice! u held a few notes about 1/14 off the beat :s, oh well i still though it kicked ass!!!!!!!

  • i'm mainly a jazz player but i do have several classical pieces and i would love to have this one! Very impressive!

  • beautiful piece, amazing air support and control

  • Your tone is so musically pure. Another great performance by Lukas. -Phil

  • Very impressive. I really like your ideas with your phrasing. Your vibrato is very nice, and i thought that you played it beautifully. I look forward to hearing more from you!

  • I love this interpretation. Great vibrato and phrasing. Also good intonation considering that this piece often presents difficulty in this area.

  • i am sTarTing to learn This song.^^ when i firsT saw the note... i was like: wooow that shouLd go fasT. and i heard this viedo... much more easier then i toughT. :D good work.^^ bTw... in wich class of saxophone did you pLay this song?

  • mmhmm this is wonderful, it is so easy on the ears that i could just and listen until it lulled me to sleep.

  • Played this for solo and ensemble in 9th grade. Awesome song, still play it occasionally.

  • This sounds really good..Good job! My brother played this piece for contest when he was in HS, he played it on Bari tho..

  • Wow...amazing performance! Your classical saxophone skills are very highly developed...I hope you're going into college for music. If not...I might have to drag you into it =P. Seriously, awesome job and keep up the good work!

  • Nicely done. It's a fun one to play, and definitely takes some stamina.

  • That was done very well, how many years have you been playing for? your vibrato is amazing for your age, keep working hard.

  • wow great sound.. my teacher gave me ave maria once, and even though theyre simple notes, its making it sound good thats the hard part. haha it gets me all outta breath! great job!

  • no he is not my teacher he is the pianist who played with me at a competition.

  • is that piano guy your teacher?

  • i finally got the music for this!

  • Where?!?! I really want to play this Solo peice, and i can't find the Music. Where did you find it??

  • You can find this piece (Eugene Bozza's Aria) on the jwpepper dot com.

  • You rule! This piece is awesome. It took me forever to find but I found it. And now I'm going to work on it so I sound like you. Good job. :)

  • Nice job with this one. Aria's a relatively easy grade 5, yet it takes a lot of effort to make it sound beautiful, which you did.

  • This is Aria by Eugéne Bozza.

I played this in a church on a school concert we had last year.. Very nice piece :)

  • love his tone :) its so mellow!! great vibrato too

  • This guy did an alright job...not bad. You could use work on bringing out the crescendos. Also, throughout the whole tune, it felt like there were only 2 dynamics...loud and soft. Just some things to work out...

  • hye can u give me the score to this. and how do u do vibrato so well? nicejob

  • im playin the same thing for my recital, very nice job on it

  • This is Bozza and this student does a very nice job. A number of decent student do this piece. I have most of my alto students do it. Fish is right about the c-sharp.

  • id say it a good prove that someone can be born with magnificant talent

  • 16 years old !!! ... I like it very much ... who is the composer ? .. keep going baby .. I hope you will be a famus :)

  • AS far as I know this is the Aria by Ibert for Marcel Mule...but I could be wrong. But damn, this lady knows what she's doing. Amazing tone and use of vibrato!

  • this is "Aria" written by Eugene Bozza in 1936

  • that's beautiful. keep workin' hard, it'll get you somewhere =)

  • i can play better than that on my sax!

  • id like to see that it easy to talk

  • Supi Lukas! ^^

Ich bin stolz auf dich! :D

  • Pushing down the octave key and the ring finger of your left hand will bring the lower octave C# more in tune. :) I played this for college auditions.

  • I think you play this piece beautifully and every time I listen to you playing it brings me to tears and I hope I will be as good as you one day, well done to you.

  • Fantastic, I hope you stay with it because you have great potential. If you haven't watched John Yves Fourmeau playing on youtube look at it now, I hope you take your playing to a similar level. Good luck and keep at it! :)

  • he's going to be very good...

  • nice work! great control in general! My only suggestion is to work with a tuner and find some corrective fingerings for the sustained high notes (especially in the section before 5). It's a tough piece on the chops so it's hard to keep those babies perfectly in tune! Good luck with everything!

  • Fantastico! I like it so much, very good!

  • You are very, very good.

    I am a 2nd year sax.

  • hey great job but i don't believe it is necessary to move around sooo much : )

  • actually it's very good that he does.

  • Ah, I love Bozza's Aria. I played this during my college audition. I think the vibrato is OK, it's just not really pronounced on the recording. Good work.

  • More vibrato.

This song is awesome, it feels so warm and dark.

Haha, I like how you brushed your hair out of your eyes a couple times too.

My favourite part of this song is the damn animated section that begins with the 'b' to 'c' trill, kicks ass.

That was really good, keep playing!

  • i've always liked this song

  • Very good. I also think that a more pronounced vibrato would be nice.

  • Anyway, again I'd like to hear more vibrato or maybe the hall was too echo-ish. That means you'll have to adjust your player a bit to the hall; vibrato, releases, etc. I'd also suggest you to keep the flow going a little more smoothly. I'd stay calm on the triplet 16th but still be expressive and emotional until i reach the ff. You may wanna learn what an Aria is, that may help you to play even better. Sing it, it's an Aria. VERY GOOD. Looking forward to your next video.

  • I also play on a Silver plated SII, it gives me a warmer but still powerful sound. It's hard to say why people would chose silver plated, sometime you just like the sound for no reason.

  • Thanks for your prompt reply. I'm assuming you tried other brand names before choosing youe Selmer SA II silver plated alto. What does the silver plating give you? Could you give me a comparison-contrast of the different brands of alto saxophones available? And lastly, I really like your playing and your souund!

  • i play a silver plated superaction II from selmer.

    mouth piece: classical selmer c.

    nec:selmer superaction II

    wood: vandoren classic 3

  • What kind of horn are you playing and what is your

set-up? And yes, I know you are part of the equation.

Keep your eyes on the prize!

  • And it's derived from Pastorale for organ (S. 590, I think) by J.S. Bach.

  • Aeolian Song! I love this one. I played this at my recital too. You do it very well!!

  • who is the song by

  • Eugène Joseph Bozza (* 4. April 1905 in Nizza; † 28. September 1991 in Valenciennes)

  • This isn't Aeolian Song. This is Eugene Bozza's Aria.
