@arcangel3579 nope :/ so i guess me saying use revolutionary wont help too many people because they clearly have a mac if they are watching this video. It only runs on windows and linux
I keep getting an error message when trying to root my htc evo 4g. I have tried quite a few times and still no luck. What can I do to remedy this problem?
UNREVOKED DOES NOT WORK FOR GINGERBREAD! You're only chance is to get on a PC and use Revoked +Alpharev. Don't waste your time. Unrevoked was supposed to take care of this a long time ago but I'm not going to hold my breath.
@khush9211 i dont think i can answer that one ha. but if you happen to also have a windows computer, try looking up revolutionary, it works for gingerbread
@ThaCheekyBastard from what i have read about, it seems like its just another way to interact with your files. So yes it sounds like pretty much the same thing
@RootYourAndroid i tried to update frimware with the kind i DL'd but it said it was up to date. how can i go back to an earlier firmware so i can easily root with unrevoked
@damexaking21 well all i could tell you is that software is pretty knew so maybe unrevoked doesn't have support for it yet. Does unrevoked show any error messages?

Alright this is pissing me off, when I download unrevoked my computer can't open the file, it says its not supported on the system, I have a mac osx. Help!
@hrldftzgrld this is because superuser isnt really an app. Their are certain things you do on your phone that require permission. Like If u flash a new rom from ROM manager, the superuser will come up asking for permission
hello i tried to root my htc evo phone and it does not put it on recovery mode. it just reboots it and on the urevoked screen it says done. but its not rooted. any tips on what i can do?

Unrevoked comes up on my mac as three apps, one says reflash, another says reflash.dmg and the other says unrevoked recovery flashed tools. I clicked all three of them and they each take me to a Reflash application, when I click it, it says that its not supported on the system... This is very frustrating.
@jomix24 you do not have to factory reset. Just go ahead with the root process. Once your rooted everything will look and be exactly the same until u install a new rom
@RootYourAndroid I kept looking around and eventually realized that. Thanks for the response tho. I still couldn't get this to work though. I ended up using XP to root it.

@RootYourAndroid idk what thte problem is. My phone isn't recognized by unrevoked at all. I eventually found out that I didn't have to reset my phone. Thanks for the response. I ended up using XP to root it.
when i plug my phone in and start unrevoked, it stays on waiting for device. i have debugging and charge only set. do you have any idea why this happens? thanks.
@dbrancs I don't think it is. One way you can check is by going to recovery mode (hold power button and volume down while phone is off) and at the first screen at the top it will either say s-on or s-off. If off, its rooted
It might actually mean the update that gave evo users blockbuster and swype. 3.71 or 3.70 something like that. I'm not sure why it is doing that though. Maybe this update restricted the root process I'm not sure. Sorry man

@cuntpuncher1000 sounds like unrevoked still hasnt come out with a new version to support gingerbread. try using "revolutionary" instead

@palomadoe it will not factory reset your phone and sprint might not know it just depends on what is wrong with the phone when u bring it in
RootYourAndroid 9 months ago
I'm about to root my phone so that my iPad can use my phone's internet wherever I am.. I have two questions:
1. Will this reset my phone to factory as soon as the root is complete?
2. Will Sprint people know that I tampered with my phone if I bring it in with any sort of issues in the future?
Thanks in advance for answered my questions, this video was the best simple version I watched thus far.
