  • can i use the root for the htc evo for my htc evo shift?

  • I keep getting an error that says "failed to get root. is your firmware too new?" what does that mean

  • @cuntpuncher1000 sounds like unrevoked still hasnt come out with a new version to support gingerbread. try using "revolutionary" instead

  • Does not work with GB 2.3.3 :-(

  • @schwanz583 nopee. gotta use something called revolutionary for gingerbread.

  • @RootYourAndroid do they have revolutionary for mac?

  • @arcangel3579 nope :/ so i guess me saying use revolutionary wont help too many people because they clearly have a mac if they are watching this video. It only runs on windows and linux

  • does not work with mac ios 10.5.8

  • I keep getting an error message when trying to root my htc evo 4g. I have tried quite a few times and still no luck. What can I do to remedy this problem?

  • @wdj760 well it really depends on what the message says! if it says firmware too new then sorry, but unrevoked wont work for it at the time

  • UNREVOKED DOES NOT WORK FOR GINGERBREAD! You're only chance is to get on a PC and use Revoked +Alpharev. Don't waste your time. Unrevoked was supposed to take care of this a long time ago but I'm not going to hold my breath.

  • @Koogert ya hes right. look up something called revolutionary if you have windows or linux if you want to root gingerbread.

  • will it work for evo shift?

  • it says " is your firmware too new"

  • @macboii94 unrevoked must not have support for your firmware yet then

  • @RootYourAndroid how long do you think it'll take for unrevoked to come out with an update? it's been forever....

  • @khush9211 i dont think i can answer that one ha. but if you happen to also have a windows computer, try looking up revolutionary, it works for gingerbread

  • Hey bro on EVO it shows 4.54. ---- 2.3.3 is that the new version ????

  • @vanks24 yes i think so

  • Does it work for Gingerbread?

  • @JohnnyConthismofo um not quite sure if they came out with a version for it yet. they probably have

  • Guys. You NEED to have an Intel mac. If you need to find out, go to about this mac in the apple menu bar

  • it says error my firmware version is to new????

  • is android composite adb interface the same thing as bootloader?

  • @ThaCheekyBastard from what i have read about, it seems like its just another way to interact with your files. So yes it sounds like pretty much the same thing

  • @RootYourAndroid i tried to update frimware with the kind i DL'd but it said it was up to date. how can i go back to an earlier firmware so i can easily root with unrevoked

  • hey bro i have the 4.53.651.1 software and i cant root it,can you tell me the problem if you know? thanks!

  • @damexaking21 well all i could tell you is that software is pretty knew so maybe unrevoked doesn't have support for it yet. Does unrevoked show any error messages?

  • @RootYourAndroid yea it says something like my software is to new

  • @damexaking21 well then unrevoked probably doesn't have support for it yet

  • @damexaking21 well all i could tell you is that software is pretty knew so maybe unrevoked doesn't have support for it yet. Does unrevoked show any error messages?

  • holding down power and vol down doesnt work

  • thats weird.. idk what to tell you about that one. it should work

  • @skyvanburen you have to go to settings application and then turn off fast boot for it work

  • It just hangs on "Waiting for Device" - nothing happens...

  • it says my firmware might be too new

  • @currystubbs123 i got that to firmware too new

  • @myprecious95376 same here. what gives?

  • @knowxvill okay that might be your problem then

  • @knowxvill you must have an older version of Mac osx. What year is your Mac?

  • @RootYourAndroid Idk it's not but like 3 years old.

  • @bildonug2102 will do once I get the time. Could be done by the end of this week

  • When I try opening the program my MAC osx can't, it says that the file is not supported on this computer? Wtf, help?

  • Alright this is pissing me off, when I download unrevoked my computer can't open the file, it says its not supported on the system, I have a mac osx. Help!

  • how do you unroot!!!

    make a video!!!

    for mac!!!

  • @hrldftzgrld this is because superuser isnt really an app. Their are certain things you do on your phone that require permission. Like If u flash a new rom from ROM manager, the superuser will come up asking for permission

  • So I tried this and I have a Superuser Permissions icon under the "all apps" tab, but when I select it there is nothing inside

  • worked great! the only thing is that once it was done rooting it took me to a screen and i just had to click reboot and it work!

  • @tmdr16 do u have the latest radio and software on ur phone?

  • hey! it still has the message waiting for device ...what to do!

  • hey thanks @geejay2215

  • boooooo u suck

  • @palomadoe it will not factory reset your phone and sprint might not know it just depends on what is wrong with the phone when u bring it in

  • I'm about to root my phone so that my iPad can use my phone's internet wherever I am.. I have two questions:

    1. Will this reset my phone to factory as soon as the root is complete?

    2. Will Sprint people know that I tampered with my phone if I bring it in with any sort of issues in the future?

Thanks in advance for answered my questions, this video was the best simple version I watched thus far.

  • @ronaldo97 U positive it isn't rooted? I got a new evo and it did the same for mine except it is rooted

  • hello i tried to root my htc evo phone and it does not put it on recovery mode. it just reboots it and on the urevoked screen it says done. but its not rooted. any tips on what i can do?

  • @knowxvill hm that's weird. well u need to have a newer version of the Mac software but Idk how new

  • Unrevoked comes up on my mac as three apps, one says reflash, another says reflash.dmg and the other says unrevoked recovery flashed tools. I clicked all three of them and they each take me to a Reflash application, when I click it, it says that its not supported on the system... This is very frustrating.

  • Ya my bad jomix. I hadn't been on in a while

  • @jomix24 you do not have to factory reset. Just go ahead with the root process. Once your rooted everything will look and be exactly the same until u install a new rom

  • @RootYourAndroid I kept looking around and eventually realized that. Thanks for the response tho. I still couldn't get this to work though. I ended up using XP to root it.

  • @RootYourAndroid idk what thte problem is. My phone isn't recognized by unrevoked at all. I eventually found out that I didn't have to reset my phone. Thanks for the response. I ended up using XP to root it.

  • @andreinagiron unrevoked doesn't show up in your apps. Does it say error 67 on your computer?

  • Do i have to factory reset my phone before doing this?

  • when it started rooting my phone in the begging it failed and said

Error: failed to get root. is your firmwire too new?

    what do i do?

  • Hey I just rooted mine and now I'm getting error code 67. I went to uninstall unrevoked but it doesn't show in my apps. Do you know how I can fix it?

  • when i plug my phone in and start unrevoked, it stays on waiting for device. i have debugging and charge only set. do you have any idea why this happens? thanks.

  • @dbrancs I don't think it is. One way you can check is by going to recovery mode (hold power button and volume down while phone is off) and at the first screen at the top it will either say s-on or s-off. If off, its rooted

  • yo man. after its all done. unrevoked comes up and says " failed to flash recovery image" and i dont think my phone is rooted. is it?

  • What doesn't work? Unrevoked should tell you what is wrong. It depends on what point it doesn't work at

  • its not working on my evo using my macbook pro. what should i do?

  • Thanks! Worked for me better than all the other videos.

  • it wont work on my mac>;/

  • It might actually mean the update that gave evo users blockbuster and swype. 3.71 or 3.70 something like that. I'm not sure why it is doing that though. Maybe this update restricted the root process I'm not sure. Sorry man

  • I dont get it, ets telling me that i might have too new of the firmware Error message, but i got 2.2?!?! Any ideas?

  • That's fine. U just have older version of clockwork mod. Is this after it reboots?

  • Mine is a black screen with green text. I'm lost. Help. Asap.

  • Sorry ill re-do it today

  • dude you need to make a better video for us stupid guys who dont know anything step by step using your phone as an example and your mac of course cuz i dont have windows. thanks for all your help

  • Probly*

  • Wait okay u mean the black screen problem. Just press reboot phone now. Sorry about that.

  • What do u mean the back screen? Like once it is done rooting? Please clarify like tell me a point in the video and I will help

  • wish you showed it with an unrooted phone..

I didnt know what to do once I got the back screen.. there are bunch of options
