The plane didn't save them if it was the plane that got them in a mess in the first place! Though, I do give credit to Airbus for building a marvel in aeronautical engineering that could withstand a swim in the Hudson.
Whats ironic.... aparently this A320 was so intact that it could be salvaged and repaired.. but the extraction work was so clumsy that it damaged the aircraft beyond repair.. so the plane survives ditching and being inmersed in water for hours and then its "killed" but some crane trying to get it out of the water...
@SCIFIguy64 The damage they did getting it out of the drink was not just "cosmetic" aparently they caused structural damage so it wasnt worth repairing anymore
I think he had no flaps after the bird strike, cos when the engines blew-out some fragmented fan blades blasted backwards and right through the flaps, I could see early on that the flaps had been fragged, and it figures that some ceramic fan blade fragments would have done that, there was no way that he could get it back to the runway, he knew exactly what he had to do, and that was exactly what he did, glide it down & land it on it's belly in/on the nearest body of water, the Hudson. Perfect.☺/
@eldiablo9604 that isnt what he meant b ice attack. by ice attack, he was referring to the ice in the Hudson, and they were hoping the ice wouldnt puncture or break the plane while in the river.

@sparrowlt Looks good. You could keep the fusalodge, tail, back wings, and left wing.

That is a great video. Just goes to show how much effort went into recovering the plane.
