People that think global warming is fake are just scared of the things in there life they will have to change like using less energy and nmot being able to have the great economy that we have today. Geography is only one part of the science and although calving is a natural process it has been proven that the process is being accelerated at fantastic rates. Also, the overall amount of Antarctic ice is INCREASING, not decreasing - which also seems to put the kybosh on this kind of panic-causing propaganda! Aside from the fact that IF all the ice melted, and sea levels continued to rise at the current rate, it would take 40,000 years before all the ice was gone (by which time I am sure they would have found something else to panic about)!
This specific ice shelf has broken up and reformed every year for the last 10 years and evidence has shown that the average temperature in the Antarctic cean is actually LOWER than normal - the global warming thing has become such a political issue that it detracts from the real issues (deforestation and habitat loss, to name a couple)

ice shelf means ice that is attached to land but projects into the sea. the part that breaks off is the part oer the sea, and probably some off the land too. yes it happens every year and is reformed in the winter.

You are comparing apples to oranges and you know it. The example of the temp in Chicago would be much closer to others taken in Chicago. I live in a much smaller town, but I still check my thermometer; I don't rely on the local radio station. A temp may be computed using an average, but two temps do not make a temp; they make an average and that average is not a measurement; it is an average of two measurements.

i saw a documentary on histrory channel on de relation between sunspots n global warming. type little ice age on wikipedia. it mention that there was low sun activity between 16th and 17th century.
I found that correlation between solar activity and global temperatures ended around 1975. At that point, temperatures started rising while solar activity stayed level.
There just happens to be a massive volcano under the western Antarctic where this is happening, the official sources claim this is regional warming which might have something to do with the MASSIVE VOLCANO under this area? and the EARTHQUAKES that are reported in the region??

The wilkins ice shelf began disintergrating in 1998 (hottest year in last 100) every year since has been cooling with 2007 being the coolest in 100yrs. This is a regional event, not demonstrated on the rest of the Antarctic continent which has shown no sign of warming at all.

It's a result of CO2 increasing in the atmosphere to a level never seen in the history of Homosapiens that increases the heat trapped in the atmosphere. Regional variations may mitigate the warming in certain areas (like W Europe which will cool in the short term cause of a slower Gulf Stream), but it is not stopping.
And one cold winter means nothing. Climate Change is about extremes...both hot and cold. 2007 (a La Nina year) supports this.
Google "froze to death" and see the reality global warming is having on people all over the world including Thailand & India this current winter. Hundreds of people are freezing to death in climates that have not been seen since the 60's

Well I can say one comment on that, from my own personal experiences, and that's the fact that being overseas for studies, I've seen winter in Eastern Canada for a few years now.
Today was the FIRST major snowstorm of this year's entire winter where I am. Just yesterday, it was merely raining, and the day before there was barely any snow at all round the town and rural areas. All past years, I swear, they had storms all the time and meters of snow all winter.

Perhaps you should learn to write before you try and convince people of your knowledge of geography. Geography is only one part of the science and although calving is a natural process it has been proven that the process is being accelerated at fantastic rates. Also, the overall amount of Antarctic ice is INCREASING, not decreasing - which also seems to put the kybosh on this kind of panic-causing propaganda! Aside from the fact that IF all the ice melted, and sea levels continued to rise at the current rate, it would take 40,000 years before all the ice was gone (by which time I am sure they would have found something else to panic about)!

This specific ice shelf has broken up and reformed every year for the last 10 years and evidence has shown that the average temperature in the Antarctic cean is actually LOWER than normal - the global warming thing has become such a political issue that it detracts from the real issues (deforestation and habitat loss, to name a couple)

No, it hasn't. Your 'factiod' is based off a single, very hot year, and because no year has been hotter since, you say it's 'cooling'. That's just pure deceit through misrepresentation. The temperature of a single year means nothing, you must look at an average to know anything about trend.
The last 15 years averaged is the hottest of that span, ever. The mean temperature of Antarctica has been increasing. The arctic ice cap might be gone entirely by 2015. Why do you pretend?

My point (and I think on this matter DarkDragon and I seem to agree) is that C02 is a limiting factor in plant growth.
6xC02 + 6xH20 reacts via photosynthesis to produce C6H12O6 + 6xO2, or
6 carbon-dioxide + 6 water = 1 glucose + 6 oxygen molecules.
I used to grow hemp indoors in a C02 enriched environment, 1600ppm, for a good reason, and with astonishing results.
Now google "A big tree grows in Brooklyn" and try to gauge the merit of criminalizing C02.

The earth is cooling dramaticaly despite the staggering growth of coal powered plants in the past decade. The computer models did not predict that real-world fact: therefore the computer models are wrong (no surprise given the complexity of climate).

Todays report caused me to use google, by which I found this clip, along with NASA imagery and reports of last years disintegration, followed by the winter refreeze, and the recent re-disintegration. It was an amazing cycle!
I also discovered recent snow in Kuwait, Dubai, the earliest snow in London for 70 years, 3x average snowfall in the US, best ski season in Euro Alps for a generation (same paper warned 6 months earlier that skiing in the Alps was history), and other chilling news. cheers.

ricksterr14-There is no 'global average' temp. An "average" is not a temperature. All temps are local. Only actual temps mean anything. You can average 100degrees in Chicago in the summer and
-100below in the Antarctica on the same day and get an average of 0-which is exactly what the average would mean. Does your furnace run according to the "global average"? If not, then neither does the planet. Thus the "global average temperature" is irrelevant and meaningless and so is "global warming".

actually a temperature IS an average. temperature is definined as the average kinetic energy of the molecules of a substance. but, judging off what you've written i wouldn't expect you to be aware of that, or of any other scientific knowledge.
when you assign a temp of 100 to chicago, you do realize that not all of chicago is exactly 100 degrees. rather, that measure is an AVERAGE of chicago's microclimates. it's all a matter of scale -- just like global temperatures

You are comparing apples to oranges and you know it. The example of the temp in Chicago would be much closer to others taken in Chicago. I live in a much smaller town, but I still check my thermometer; I don't rely on the local radio station. A temp may be computed using an average, but two temps do not make a temp; they make an average and that average is not a measurement; it is an average of two measurements.

ricksterr14-I need to point out that you could also (in the winter) have both Chicago and the Antarctica at 0 on the same day and still end up with an "average" of 0. Whether 100 and -100 or both places at 0, the average tells us absolutely nothing about reality.

ricksterr14-the sandwich will not be replenished. Unlike your sandwich analogy, there's plenty more ice "upstream" and it continues to be created every time it snows down there.
Something else you need to consider is that, figuratively speaking, there's a burner on under that ice - there's a volcanic rift under that area and active volcanoes on that side of the continent.
The heat isn't coming from us, it's coming from under the earth. It's the same thing in Greenland.

you want to cool the planet? More carbon dioxide, itsn't that what dry ice is made from? If carbon traps heat in, than should it not keep it out as well? Isn't water a bigger greenhouse gas than carbon? Is it possible that a hotter sun is creating more water vapore ergo more greenhouse gas. Look-up Carbon dioxide at wikipedia. If our sun has been burning hotter what would cabon tax do?

So what! That is what ice does, it melts. We get hot periods and cold and so on. We just came out of the ice age, does that not mean we are going into a hot age??? i saw a documentary on histrory channel on de relation between sunspots n global warming. type little ice age on wikipedia. it mention that there was low sun activity between 16th and 17th century.

Now hold on a minute, is it GLOBAL warming or is it REGIONAL warming?? The wilkins ice shelf began disintergrating in 1998 (hottest year in last 100) every year since has been cooling with 2007 being the coolest in 100yrs. This is a regional event, not demonstrated on the rest of the Antarctic continent which has shown no sign of warming at all.

Sorry. You're very wrong. It's not regional warming. It's a result of CO2 increasing in the atmosphere to a level never seen in the history of Homosapiens that increases the heat trapped in the atmosphere. Regional variations may mitigate the warming in certain areas (like W Europe which will cool in the short term cause of a slower Gulf Stream), but it is not stopping.
And one cold winter means nothing. Climate Change is about extremes...both hot and cold. 2007 (a La Nina year) supports this.

petetions can get signed multiple times for a few reasons.
the signature checking depends on the body charged with checking them, naturaly.
the best case senario is that someone can compare the ink signature to another recent ink signature. sometimes it comes down to a poor quality scan, which is actualy still very helpful for the checkers.
the amount of signatures required and the number you could fake make changing the overall numbers next to imposible and very risky.

But real world car Engines are inefficient and make deadly Carbon Monoxide

And yes that wasn't an error, real world combustion technology produces more Carbon monoxide which is poisonous in large doses and dangerous cause it mixes easily with air then CO2 which is 5x heavier then air and doesn't mix with it freely unless it is riding up in it on water vapor like during precipitation cycles.
CO2 prefers to seep into moist ground,permafrost,snow,and water and just doesn't "magically" mix with air

The circulatory CO2 in the Atmosphere can only get up their by riding on water vapor.
As the Oceans and Seas and lakes and such evaporate to make clouds they take Co2 seeped in them up with them and then the CO2 "rains down" and feeds the plants and gets reabsorbed into the Oceans and permafrost and soil.

Do not get me wrong. That ineeficient Combustion engines emmit CO (carbon Monoxide) is bad and improving filtration tecnology as we try to move away from it is neccesary.
It cost "Big Auto" $50 for a Combustion Engine, $500 for a Hybrid Engine, and $7000 for a Electric Engine.
Which do you think they rather put in a car they make to maximize profits unless thier gas cars Sales slump like it did last time gas threatened $4 a gallon making them have to make Hybrids to save their ASSets?

No, I am saying that the major problem with the people saying "Down with Evil Big Oil" and "Down with George BusH" aren't even anywhere near how Gian Dynamics or 200 year old Combustion Technology works.
The Atmosphere is 85.5% "Dry Air" and up to 5.5% water vapor at any given time and a local patch's tempature depends on Humidity,water vapor, absorbing heat from the surface below, not the IR Absorbtion rate of Air's "GHG"

Efficient Combustion would make CO2 and Ozone, but current Combustion technology is ineffecient and makes mostly Carbon Monoxide
Carbon Dioxide is 5x heavier then the Atmosphere so if cars really made CO2 (and Ozone) it would always smell like after a rainy day with a bunch of "Spooky fog" (like when Dry ice is dropped in water) all over the city streets instead of "Smog"

The right angle cuts are PERFECT right angle cuts.
These cuts, some 45 miles long, do not and CANNOT happen naturally.
Perfect right angles do not appear in nature, therefore these were caused by some type of man made machine

Have you ever seen cracks that went in straight lines with no deviations? No ice crack or earthquake has ever formed a straight crack and never will. In fact I really see no cracks on that prism

And by the way man breaking off ice to form surfaces like that would in fact make it formed by man.
For it to be natural, it would have to be formed by forces of nature or non-human animals
