Agree w/ m4p5t0n. Sonic was one of the best games in my childhood & I became disappointed w/ the storylines & characters of the most recent releases. Sonic a half werewolf? ..wtf! I have to agree with a lot of these notions. Sonic The Hedgehog is one of the few franchises that probably should have stuck to 2-D, sidescrolling platforming.

Take Capcom's Mega Man/Rockman franchise. Even X8 was 2-D sidescrolling, and Mega Man 9 was retro to the limit. The ZX series is also sidescrolling.

I actually like the later games a lot, but side-scrolling platforming is just better for this character.

I honestly don't think they are going to fuck it up, I think Sega saw how bad their Sonic games have been over the past years, and they have come to their senses. It said it's built from the ground up, no wherehog, 2D was when Sonic was the best, I think it's going to be a great comeback for Sonic.

But it probably would've been a short game, comparable to a downloadable title. Kinda like, I don't know, THE ORIGINAL SONIC GAMES. Yeah, I know they were short. But that was the 90's. Even if they were short, the experience still rocked. I mean Mega Man 9's a downloadable game with NES graphics, but that doesn't mean it sucks. That was chosen as an artistic choice. I'm probably going to hold off until I see some actual gameplay.
