@CosmicNeons727 Use your imagination dude, spoken/written language is so fucking limited it's like 2 retarded babies trying to express ideas to one another. We need to develop a perfect visual expression that can be shared. It's gonna happen.
:-) i know i was saying what do i have to do to bring him back. i've been to the "other side" by just about any means of "getting there". first time was when i was 17 and literally dead. after 3 days on machines they told my mom "she MIGHT make it". i like natural methods. never tried lsd. just shrooms and opium and i have a medical marij. card. i've used fasting and isolation and music/meditation. i know how get "there" hehe. just wanted to bring terence back. bad joke, sorry :-)
What I believe he's saying is basically that the deep profound psychedelic visuals like the kind experienced on a large dose (LSD, Psilocybin, DMT, etc.) are in fact a complex visible language...the language of the psychedelic you took, your own mind, and the entire universe. Pure information transmitted to your mind instantly. Maybe this is what we're evolving towards, and when we reach that stage this ability to transmit profound information so freely will bring unimaginable change.
@Noednoefpoe I wonder sometimes if machines will actually one day takeover , just like how you talk about information being transmitted instantly, computers already do that so in a sense they are superioir to us, our bodies are just bio machines, we have to realize we are spiritual beings, free your soul from yur animal minds
what I take away from this is something I also remind myself of: the human set of senses is not the standard...we see, hear, taste, touch and smell in diff ways than other organisms, yet we compare how other organisms sense their environment to ours instead of realizing that the known universe we perceive is not the same universe a housecat, a bird, an octopus, etc perceives it to be. once we realize we "see" only a subjective version of "reality" it both humbles us and allows us to grow up
@Wyrdmaven Of course, it is just like other planets, why do we look for things "Humans" would be of, such as water and oxygen that humans need to survive, what if their are other beings who maybe use something we would die of, or if they are invisible to the human eye, we only think what we know.
@Wyrdmaven PLEASE HELP!!! I asked some dude on youtube, what happens when you die and he sayed "Life is indeed a scene in an infinite movie, and we are given a script with repeating themes, however it is our duty as conscious beings to transcend our scripts in order to break the cycle and 'become." well if you think about it we can have a singularity on technology.so isnt fear good for that purpose? maybe thats why the government wants to keep us all sober?
“Know that a word suddenly shot from the tongue is like an arrow shot from the bow. Son, that arrow won't turn back on its way; you must damn the torrent at its source". Quote: Rumi "Daylight".
A sharp metaphor of a man from the Middle Ages. I suppose Rumi didn't know the boomerang. A word isn't only a sting in our flesh but it reflects between human faces. We always tend to imitate. Our mind is a miiror and transformer. A word unknown masks. TM's suggestive skin fascinates. Geat vid tnx!
the Tower of Babel reflects the broken Schism-reality; some force of disturbance breaking up Infinity and All-Possibility ("reaching God", or rather godliness, a quality) to divide and reign over the human species.
Why religious fundieschoose to associate an argument about linguistics and information in relation to how we interpret - filter - our world on a day-to-day basis is beyond me; it has nothing to do with morality and making good/evil choices, but rather what Reality we can access
Anyone reading this is actually seeing language ..my thoughts are now visual to complete strangers . If I write something such as' A mirror looks at its own reflection and thinks, my I look wonderful today' most people with an inkling of Imagination will be able to visualise it in some way .. If this' ONE ' word was wrtten in hundreds and thousands and hung in an art gallery it would also be a visual representaion of thought .We have evolved to create meaning out of symbology as expression!
We first started with pictures, then we created sounds with our mouth...what could be next??? Could we really evolve to learn to see what people think?
and i know we will be abel to do this in about a year or 2... we now already can read, i know this is the start of the learning a visabel language. think about it :)
yeah squids do that because they have less evolved depth than we do. Why would we ever strive to regress and fold ourselfs up? We dont communicate this way because we have evolved a neo cortex and have the ability to imagine complex images, we dont have to show anything we dont want to show and that is the new addition to our abilities after transcending the disabilities of visual communication, all the while including the gifts "communication" can give us.
i think its not really worth trying to understand what he is trying to say, but rather create your own meaning of the words. we can all access our minds eye through meditation, psychadelics, and entheogens but the truth is it never really goes anywhere. if you can train your brain to be able to "trip" whenever you want, you can not only find the answers to your questions, but realize that the question wasnt worth being asked in the first place.
i think they can understand what your thinking. and when you think something crazy about the universe or our heritage and get butterflys in your stomach its hard not to feel a scence unexplainable joy. nothing compares..
We have a form of this in the interpretation of body language through facial gestures and so forth. I experienced a new form of communication recently in deep meditation where a row of panels appeared before my mind's eye. The panels were gray and had uniform images which changed in response to my thoughts. They actually changed in answer to my thoughts. It was absolutely amazing. Hands clapping signified that my thoughts were correct in relation to the images. Wonderful language.
On a 4+ grams shroom trip the other day I encountered what seemed to be extraterrestrial intelligences which spoke to me in deep drones, and I was somehow able to understand their meaning whenever they did it, as if they telepathically conveyed the thought while simultaneously droning from their mouths. Craziest trip ever.
just curious, were you alone, in a meditating setting? I've eaten 5.5 grams with company of others on more and less doses and all I came to was that nothing that I ever knew was real, and that it couldn't be and if I were to feel the presence of extraterrestrials I probably would have shunned that as mart of the matrix I felt I was apart of. any reply back would be appreciated.
I was alone during the entire trip, and laying down with eyes closed listening to music during the peak. I've tripped a few times before on shrooms, but I'd never dosed over 3.5. A bit over 4 grams was a big change, and the fact that I mixed two different types may have added to the intensity.
Sign language is a language still - coded meaning. Meaning is constituted by the understanding of implications: "What do you mean?" or "I see what you mean" we say. Language is a means of encoding it, allowing for its "transmission". This implies an emitter and receptor - a matching internal dictionary is required, and yet it still lies victim to their differing perception. To see meaning is sort of an exteriorization of the unconscious/mind, where its constituiting information lies.
(Cont) It'd be like seeing INNER music. He means not to hear nor see language, but meaning - the octopi tale is the closest to conceive of what that'd be like in a living being, but still isn't it; it's a physical representation of what each means.
This world is also made of language in the sense that space is the medium through which it is expressed - spoken language as sound, or physical forms which require extremities/outlines, etc, to be distinct; or else, everything would be everywhere.
ok........ but the ablitiy to speak and understand metaphor is surly a form of visual language on par with a higher level communication? to communicate deep meanings through the use of metaphor is something terence is a professional at.
Those things only suggest ideas. T.M.'s lighted octopus reads the lights in another octopus the way I would read a letter from my mother detailing directions to the family reunion next weekend. It's like being able to read morse code from a blinking light X a million or something.
I disagree with the analogy Terence makes here in reference to octopus and their visible language. It is insignificant because humans do in fact already communicate visually in the form of sign language and 'body language'.
Now 2007moltiva, if you want to get into a debate concerning human perception and the possibility that humans may eventually learn how to interpret different sensory stimuli other than sight, sound, taste, smell and touch, I'm sure we're probably on the same page. Other than that, please don't condescend to me claiming that I have somehow missed the point. It should be remembered, visible language is all that deaf people have.
By the way, you spelled 'subconscious' incorrectly.
Sign language is closer to T.M.'s point than the more subtle "body language". The octopus analogy makes sense, to me, be because it suggests a new amplified sensitivity in future human communications. Deaf people without a doubt have lighted pathways in the brain that most hearing people do not fully develop. The octopus is reading light waves, perhaps, and patterns in light with more intense meaning than a hearing human would read, for instance, my facial expression or my posture.
Those things only suggest ideas. T.M.'s lighted octopus reads the lights in another octopus the way I would read a letter from my mother detailing directions to the family reunion next weekend. It's like being able to read morse code from a blinking light X a million or something.
Sign or body language isn't the same as if you could change the pigment in your skin to communicate better with another race, there would be sort of an unspoken communication of familiarity.
I think we do this somewhat with body language. The eyes also give things away. There is also the language of dance where we change or form and costume even to convey things. Though this has more forethought than what he is talking about.
I find myself with this octopus "curse" sometimes. I seem to be too honest sometimes which sucks when dealing with everyday society but Im happy with it.
yes Yes YES!! Some people may ask how such a performance is practical (what is practical is merely what serves an end) What is his End? HUMAN EVOLUTION FOLKS!!! HE'S TALKING ABOUT HUMAN EVOLUTION, CONSCIOUSNESS!! Fabulous Video!! ;-)
I respect the spectrum of thought he brings out of me when I heard this and I'm a huge fan...
but to play the "other guy" the octopi display the colors based on moods and feelings and they are "visible" without verbal communication. But don't we already do something similar with body language and facial expressions ?
Have you heard of superficiality? When we communicate with body language and or facial expressions, we are not necessarily displaying are innermost feelings, aspirations, desires etc. We are merely putting up a facade to hide are naked. An octopus' ultimate curse then is its honesty and its inability to lie or be superficial.
It is really hard to tell mainly because our thoughts are extremely complex and everyone's reality although sometimes similar is ultimately unique. I don't think people can completely lie through their physical actions, not just body language. It is just that different actions can mean so many different things to each person in each context.
The final destination of consciousness is truth, to yourself and others. So at some point there will be no need to lie.
It's interesting that he makes reference to mind interface, but limits the implications to people having the ability to express psychedelically induced mental imagery through a virtual reality mind interface. This would be just one of many social and cultural possibilities arising from this hyphothetical technology.
HELL YEAH...that's very likely. I am so excited to find me ahold of some of this stuff he speaks of. Man would I love to experience that stuff. I'm far enough from my ego death experience that I could go for another trauma about now. Bring it on!!! I'm tired of reading and hearing all about this state of mind. There has to be a way to bring this stuff to the common people and administer it like Internet..hell...though the Internet. Download some syntax.
not in the sense the mckenna is talking about. writing is a REPRESENTATION of sounds produced by the mouth. Mckenna is talking about language based solely on visual light.
sure, concepts that represent spoken word. He's talking about something radically different. He's speaking of a language that expresses itself solely in the form of visible light, which would drastically change our views of the world if we ever learned to do that. after all, the world is made of language.
when we were born the world is just a chaotic confusion. eventually we learn to transform reality and ideas into linguistic objects... language. without language, we wouldn't have much of a concept of reality at all, does that make sense?
who knows what animals think or undesrtand about reality? see no reason to assume that language is the basis of all thought. In fact, all thoughts take place in an instant or clear comprehension, and the relatively slow language-brain has to try to keep up, sometimes failing to accurately express even the most simple, lizard-brain concepts.
he aint a new age prophet dickhead matt.... hes just used the natrual instruments of the mind- aka DMT,shroom juice etc to unfold the truth. wake the f*k up people
@fluxogram Utilising your own Brain juices far outweighs a quick fix - it just takes too long without a guide. I believe he could be a prophet to a lot of people because his
four-dimensional semantics ratchet-effect their desires.
The ideas he is expressing are interesting, but it is amusing to see him wrap his own exquisite language skills (which are based upon sight and sound and heart, which trumps the wild vicious octopi language method of only sight) around a perspective that seems obsessed upon visual beauty and try to merge that nice but one dimensional aspect with the aspect of human language, funny really.
I proclaim Terence McKenna to be "the new age 'Prophet'", our very own "modern day 'Messiah'". From here forth be the dawn of self-actualization. Spread the word, "evolution of the mind is among us, for that time is now". - M.D.C.
...His reference towards the end about humans experiencing visual language through virtual reality makes me think of the brain chip, and how it is parallel to his hive mind theory at 2012. Was McKenna unknowingly promoting a matrix-like reality that is now achievable through technology? It makes me a further skeptic, but still learning a lot of interesting stuff about octopi and language, or communication through symbolism rather.
As Terence has said, there are two major currents associated with this change of epoch: one negative and one positive. Which manifests and where depends upon our decisions as human beings. Billy Meier is more direct: there is one current, the Beast (das Tier), which is the manifestation of authoritarianism and anarchy as brutal feudalism, ignorance, religious delusion, hive-minds, enslavement, exploitation, egoism, selfishness, destruction, disharmony, and bloodshed, etc.
The other current is that of the Silent Revolution of Truth, which awakens self-responsibility, harmony, peace, freedom, love, knowledge, intelligence, logic, self-recognition, cognizance, creativity, oneness, unity, beauty, truth, spirit, and evolution, etc.
This comment has received too many negative votesshow
Hmmm....maybe I am being to litteral here, but we do have visible language that allows communication with the eyes rather than the ears. It is called reading and writing.
Reading and writing creates the sound of words in your mind or in your ears. To communicate by just seeing alone is what he's on about -- like feeling something when you see a painting. Words come later.
Yes, we use our eyes and non-verbal physical cues to communicate even more than verbal. That is now an established and accepted fact. Even our eye color changes are steeped in meaning. But Terence is correct in that we have the potential to go far past these "cues" to share and unspeakably deep syntax and grammar. Great post.
This video is a moment of psychedelia captured, the transmission of alien information between "entities", we so commonly refer to as "people" "human" "us"
but are actually all unique alienoid channels of an ancient conscious metaframework working through the tissues of an evolved "ape"
Hi, I have not watched the video yet so I thought I would post a comment. I am just waiting for it to load up so it does not do that stop start thing which I find really annoying because it usually stops just when something important is said.
Dont we visually communicate using scrunching and folding of facial tissue, (eyebrows, nose such as in disgust, lips, etc.) and repetetive gestures of the limbs most specifically the hands? Thats not a question i know we do. Squids are simply much more visual
We, the human being, also have this talent - power in us potentially. We have suppressed it and shut it down. A basic 'blushing' is all that is left and that is ridiculed mostly or made fun of as 'naive'. As energy beings that is how we communicate - with colors, tones, light thoughts. We do here in 3D as well more than we know.
wow.... interesting idea... the trick is, what on earth do octopus talk to each other about...? i like octopus, and love to swim with them.... if i ever take acid, i can't think of a better environment than to take it with octopus :)

yes Yes YES!! Some people may ask how such a performance is practical (what is practical is merely what serves an end) What is his End? HUMAN EVOLUTION FOLKS!!! HE'S TALKING ABOUT HUMAN EVOLUTION, CONSCIOUSNESS!! Fabulous Video!! ;-)

@WIGNSWORD This is new age demonic religion!! We are not "conscious" beings - we are CONSCIENTIOUS BEings - meaning MORAL BEings!
HorChild 1 year ago
Apparently you haven't evolved to achieve consciousness yet. Don't worry its not for everyone. Your mind is beautiful in its own way.

@HorChild Different words. You would have to be conscious to be conscientious anyway lol

I respect the spectrum of thought he brings out of me when I heard this and I'm a huge fan...
but to play the "other guy" the octopi display the colors based on moods and feelings and they are "visible" without verbal communication. But don't we already do something similar with body language and facial expressions ?
trushafty38 3 years ago 7
we only understand BECAUSE we have behaved in like manner. this is always the case.
keepinitdown 3 years ago 3
Have you heard of superficiality? When we communicate with body language and or facial expressions, we are not necessarily displaying are innermost feelings, aspirations, desires etc. We are merely putting up a facade to hide are naked. An octopus' ultimate curse then is its honesty and its inability to lie or be superficial.
bassvibe89 2 years ago 3
It is really hard to tell mainly because our thoughts are extremely complex and everyone's reality although sometimes similar is ultimately unique. I don't think people can completely lie through their physical actions, not just body language. It is just that different actions can mean so many different things to each person in each context.
The final destination of consciousness is truth, to yourself and others. So at some point there will be no need to lie.
jasper756 2 years ago
if we couldn't lie, there would be no false boundaries between people.

Shroctopus 3 years ago 8

Download some syntax.

actually, as stephen king wrote, writing IS visual telepathy of language
redpaul79 3 years ago 2
not in the sense the mckenna is talking about. writing is a REPRESENTATION of sounds produced by the mouth. Mckenna is talking about language based solely on visual light.
metalsoul18 3 years ago 2
hey, the light waves bounce off the paper and transmit clearly recognized concepts, right?
redpaul79 3 years ago
sure, concepts that represent spoken word. He's talking about something radically different. He's speaking of a language that expresses itself solely in the form of visible light, which would drastically change our views of the world if we ever learned to do that. after all, the world is made of language.
metalsoul18 3 years ago
"the world is made of language"??? what the hell do you mean???
redpaul79 3 years ago
when we were born the world is just a chaotic confusion. eventually we learn to transform reality and ideas into linguistic objects... language. without language, we wouldn't have much of a concept of reality at all, does that make sense?
Mckenna explains it a lot better than i do.
metalsoul18 3 years ago
who knows what animals think or undesrtand about reality? see no reason to assume that language is the basis of all thought. In fact, all thoughts take place in an instant or clear comprehension, and the relatively slow language-brain has to try to keep up, sometimes failing to accurately express even the most simple, lizard-brain concepts.
redpaul79 3 years ago 3
he aint a new age prophet dickhead matt.... hes just used the natrual instruments of the mind- aka DMT,shroom juice etc to unfold the truth. wake the f*k up people
fluxogram 3 years ago 29
@fluxogram Utilising your own Brain juices far outweighs a quick fix - it just takes too long without a guide. I believe he could be a prophet to a lot of people because his
four-dimensional semantics ratchet-effect their desires.
AClarke2007 1 year ago

afroblue 3 years ago
...His reference towards the end about humans experiencing visual language through virtual reality makes me think of the brain chip, and how it is parallel to his hive mind theory at 2012. Was McKenna unknowingly promoting a matrix-like reality that is now achievable through technology? It makes me a further skeptic, but still learning a lot of interesting stuff about octopi and language, or communication through symbolism rather.
bryanteague 3 years ago
people are dreaming of code that creates reality. the word is singing reality into existence. superstring theory. we are life technology.
spectrumfrequency 3 years ago 6
As Terence has said, there are two major currents associated with this change of epoch: one negative and one positive. Which manifests and where depends upon our decisions as human beings. Billy Meier is more direct: there is one current, the Beast (das Tier), which is the manifestation of authoritarianism and anarchy as brutal feudalism, ignorance, religious delusion, hive-minds, enslavement, exploitation, egoism, selfishness, destruction, disharmony, and bloodshed, etc.
elgaed42 3 years ago 2
The other current is that of the Silent Revolution of Truth, which awakens self-responsibility, harmony, peace, freedom, love, knowledge, intelligence, logic, self-recognition, cognizance, creativity, oneness, unity, beauty, truth, spirit, and evolution, etc.

Hmmm....maybe I am being to litteral here, but we do have visible language that allows communication with the eyes rather than the ears. It is called reading and writing.
PropagandaPolice 3 years ago
Reading and writing creates the sound of words in your mind or in your ears. To communicate by just seeing alone is what he's on about -- like feeling something when you see a painting. Words come later.
skonthep 3 years ago 5
We have that too. It's called body language (including facial mimics) and it constitutes about 80% of all communication.

Great post.
Stepper11 4 years ago
Its great because the theory he is describing is at it's highest emergence in reality BECAUSE HE IS SAYING IT
What is spoken, physically comes to be!
So speak in pure information, not in a lingual format, but the format of energy and consciousness, teaching must be through the soul, to the soul
krinnn 4 years ago
This video is a moment of psychedelia captured, the transmission of alien information between "entities", we so commonly refer to as "people" "human" "us"
but are actually all unique alienoid channels of an ancient conscious metaframework working through the tissues of an evolved "ape"
